Changing Terrain level

I could have sworn there is a "cheat code" that can change the height of you're map. I know there is one in the God mode, but that changes it way too much. When I use it the island goes under water! So I'm curious if anyone knows that "cheat" or if it even exists. Thanks.

There are mods that change the range of of heights you can have, they are called height mods and there are several by different creators. As the original game only allowed very low mountains people found ways to change this limit (which often involved changing the sea level and depth as well). Its possible you already have a mod like this in your plugins which is why you are having trouble with your maps being underwater. Some terrain mods had them built in as well.

If this is not what the problem is and you just want to raise your map uniformly, I'd suggest getting SC4 Terraformer. There is an option under the global tools I think to raise all features on the map by a uniform level. Its quite handy.

I seem to remember once I was raising the terrain using that god mode 'raise terrain' button while holding down SHIFT and the 3 button. I can't remember what the results were, but maybe you can test it with the Control and Shift buttons, as well as with number keys.

The god mode cheat is opened by pressing the [Alt] [Ctrl] [shift] keys and clicking the god mode icon.  Raising, or lowering the terrain in god mode is pretty extreme.

Well, as I said, the God Mod one changes it way too much for me. I need about a 5 meter drop in height all around the one city. I guese I'll just deal with it or try a terrain mod like sam said. Thanks for responding everyone.

    Hi, Jezus,

Do you have SC4 Terraformer?  Sam is correct, it allows you to lower or raise the whole region, after it's rendered, and you can specify the amount.  I believe it is in meters, as wouanagaine is European.  I'm not sure if you can just do one city, but you don't have to worry about about reconciling when you do the whole region, it that matters to you.  If you haven't tried it, I would recommend it, it's a very versatile program if you want to do any terraforming.

    Have fun,

Well, the problem is that the region is mostly developed and I really like how it looks. I'll just tinker with it.

As For SC4 Terraformer, well, I DLed it but it didn't work on my computer. I never tried to figure out why, but I will eventually. I'll definitely look into it though, maybe when school gets out.

Yeah, there is a feature in the Terraformer that allows you to select the cities you don't want to be affected, and you can even protect trees and buildings in affected tiles.  But I'm not sure how this would work in conjunction with lowering and raising terrain as I only played around with that before I developed anything.  Also, you need the latest Direct X update, which can be DLed from the Direct X site, and for start up errors, the MSVCP71.DLL file, which can be found here, is necessary.  I think the things I found most useful with the program were terraforming rivers, mountain ranges, etc, that went through several city tiles, and being able to pivot the view by small amounts so that you can look down canyons, etc, more effectively than with the game's four rotations.  There is also a ground level perspective, and all points in between that and bird's eye.  It's worthwhile for someone who does a fair amount of terraforming.
