Who has seen it?

Thoughts?

Persnally I almost stopped watching it during the first 45 mins, but it definately got much better towards the end.

I dont think it will ever replace BSG, but it doesnt seem so bad so far...

From wikipedia "An extended version of the pilot will have its world premiere exclusively on DVD on April 21, 2009.[1] In early 2010, the first season, composed of the two-hour pilot and 18 hour-long episodes, is expected to begin airing on Sci Fi Channel in the United States.[2][3] The rights to broadcast the series have also been picked up by Sky1 in the UK and Ireland.[4] The pilot was leaked onto the internet on April 13, 2009."

I wish I had a desire to watch this show... but I really don't. I'd rather just be satisfied with my fond memories of BSG.

Didn't know about this thread, glad i searched before making a new one. Anyways, I own the DVD, mine arrived in the mail the day after it's release and I've seen it like 5 or 6 times now. Cheese89, do yourself a favor and watch, give it a try. You may like it because it answers a burning question that BSG didn't and I believe this series is going to tie into BSG very nicely. And don't forget everyone, sometime this fall the BSG film The Plan is supposed to air on SyFy Channel. I look forward to that as well.

At sci-fi.com they announced in the Caprica forums that the series will air beginning Jan 22, with the pilot [minus the nudity + new scenes we didn't get on the DVD], will air before the series begins its weekly run. I just watched the pilot again last night for the umpteenth time and still like it as much as I did the first time.

I wanna see that too.  SG-U looks really good [ did I not see Lou Diamond Phillips in one of the promos?] and they haven't really given any kind of clue as to what this spin-off series is about, or what time-period it takes place in except those who came through the gate aren't supposed to be there.

Right now, my wife is into Warehouse 13 so that's about the only new series I'm even remotely paying attention to.

Have you seen the pilot yet?  I purchased the DVD before it was released from Amazon and it arrived a day after it was released.  I've watched it over a dozen times now and absolutely love it.  One of the burning questions left unanswered from Galactica is answered in the pilot.  SPOILER Highlight to read... That question was how did the Centurions become sentient?

Hmmm, Randomtask hasn't logged on since July.  I doubt he'd object if I changed it, since the pilot is long over, correct?  How about Scifi TV, or shoot me a suggestion?

    Scifi TV sounds good.

Pilot will be shown early next year to kick off the new show, but the rest of the new shows kick off over the next couple weeks.

EB:  How about changing title from SciFi TV  to SF TV?

SciFi is the plural of ScumFum.

And now we have seen SG-U's debut.

Apparently we have a concluding episode next week as we visit our first class M (L?) planet.  Will the natives be restless?  Will there be any natives?  Hope so, because the current crew has no aliens.  I miss Teal'c and Ronon.

I am not sure the time-line cutouts were well-enough signaled,

This has overtones of The Last Starfighter.  Kid solves a big game problem and gets dognapped by SGC?  Been done before, but what the hey?  How many of you have seen that old slug of an SF movie?

I wonder how soon we find out who the bad guys are in those disc-shaped ships?  The CGI is rather good in this.

Let's see:  What's worse than Gou'auld, Ori, and Wraith?  Hmmm.  Banths?  Green hexapodal martians?  Drei fusse tier?

We are so far away from Earth now, that anything goes.  How about Fenachrone or Chlorans?  How about some benevolent aliens?  Norlaminians?  Osnomians?  Arisians?  Can't just have the ascended Ancients, now can we?

There is a huge cast.  It came with an explicit sex scene, which means that SF TV has now grown up.  After all, what else is there to do in your spare time when you are trapped on an alien ship at the end of the known universe?  Wonder if this is going to be a generational ship?

I remember The Last Starfighter decent enough movie, havent seen it for a while though to see if it holds up well.

"Greetings, Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan armada"

I wonder if Alan dead foster did  the novels of all those Mid 80 Sci Fi movies.

Supprized they havent remade it yet.

    havent watched SGU yet.

There is only one thing I am looking for in a science-fiction TV series. Realism. Unforunately, serials that are scientifically realisitc are few and far between.

Although I can enjoy Star Trek, and other stuff of that sort; I am increasingly seeing the innacuracies, lazy writing, impossibilities, and general over-the-top Hollywood style drama. It does kind of ruin it for me, and takes me totally out of the immersion.

I want a show where there is no sound in space; where artificial gravity is created via centripedal force; where nebula are mainly invisible to the eye and far larger, where planets have atmospheres, flora, and fauna different to that of Earth, where proper Newtonian physics is implimented in translation/rotation....the list goes on.

So far I have found a grand total of two shows that do this.

The first is the BBC mini-series Space Odyssey: Voyage to the Planets.

Babylon 5 used rotation for gravity.
