okay i have the CPT Meadowshire Terrain Mod and the CPT no.3 and 4 Terrain Textures.  However, i want to use PEG's MTP lots and some of them require the MTP textures and terrain stuff.  Would downloading and installing the MTP terrain and textures override my Meadowshire terrain with snowcaps or at the very least screw my game all up.

They would probably cause some kind of conflict. The only way to know for sure is to try it out. (If the game is screwed up, just remove one of them and it should be fine. If you are really concerned, you can back-up your plugins folder before you do this.)

I use the MTP textures for lots with my CP Meadowshire and others.  However, one couldn't use Peg's new terrain modd with them.  (I'm sure the files are separate.)  Terrain modds can only be used one at a time.  Awhile back I got mixed up and had two CP terrain modds in the game at once.  The game might have crashed, but it just showed the terrain modd that loaded last, which happened to have zz in front of the title.  If it hadn't been named that way, the game might have gotten confused and crashed, tho.

I just discovered last night that Gizmo's night modds or one of RippleJet's accompanying modds will cause the Meadowshire snow caps to disappear if it loads after the terrain mod.  I had the terrain mod in my Program Files Plugins folder, and the night mods in the My Docs folder, so they loaded last.  When I moved them to the Program Files folder, with the terrain mod, the snow caps were back.  Very interesting...

Have fun.

Yeah i guess you're right i can try it and see.  I just didn't want my game to become fubarred.  I'd hate to start from scratch again.  plus i'm workin' on a cj and that just wouldn't be fun.  thanks for y'alls help though...any more info or experiments with this subject would be much appreciated.

Again if you do something risky, don't be afraid to make backups of your regions and plugins.  Doesn't hurt!

alright, i've never backed anything up manually, where would i store the files...burn them to a disk...email the files to myself...

and if i back up a region i downloaded would it save the cities i have in place or just the blank map...

man it sucks not knowing what you're doing...haha but i'm learnin'

Anything you need to back up can be burned to a disc if you wish, but you'll be using lots of them if you back up frequently unless you use re-writable discs, which, based on my experience, tend to exhibit a higher failure rate when re-used several times.  I typically do weekly backups of plugins, regions, and albums to a folder unrelated to SimCity stuff, then when I have time I'll do more "permanent" backups to an external hard drive in case my nearly seven-year-old computer decides to kick the bucket.  There's no need for a fancy backup or "synchronization" program unless you want to get really obsessive about it.  Just copy and paste or click and drag -- whatever works best for you.

When backing up a region, any progress you've made in your cities will be saved.  This is useful for those times when you take a city's growth in a direction you think will be good, but it doesn't quite turn out as you planned.  You can then use the "Import" function in region view to revert to a previous version of that city from your backup folder.

To answer your initial question, Pegasus mentions the following at this download:

"Please Note: This dependency contains no material that alters the appearance of game default props or textures... and will not interfere in any way with playing a non-MTP or rural themed city.  The MTP SUPER PACK combines both MTP props and textures into a single download. However, it will install props and textures as separate files to make any future updates easier and faster."

You need to query the lots to find the name, then look at the readme for the lots to see what other files [dependencies] you need to go along with the lot.

I had to double check this but none of Pegs MTP lots require any terrain mod or textures.  i went through every page and didnt see them as a dependency.  I would be screwed cause for a long time I used one of Cycledogs terrain mods.

Now Peg does have some dependencies for his MTP sets like the MTP Super Pack or the MTP Logging Industry Resource.  But they are just for the lots and dont modify anything else.

I must stress to you that when you download from a certain uploader, especially if they have their own site.......Please go there for help.  As a member of PCG I must point this out.  Its easier and quicker to go to SimPeg.com and ask for help there.  Same goes for items of the BSC.  They can help you a lot quicker and he will know exactly what is wrong considering it is his custom content.

Im not trying to flame on you but you can get better help there on his content.  Peg almost never posts here.
