8 of the top 100 posters on Simtropolis are openly gay or bi. Dunno how that compares to the general population.

It'd be tough to compare fairly, though, since 1) the inability to determine otherwise requires we specify "openly", and what percentage of people are open about it is dependent on their local culture's tolerance of it, and 2) some people are bound to be more comfortable coming out semi-anonymously on the internet than to their friends and family in real life.

It varies, but Wikipedia says it ranges between 2-10% of a population is openly gay. Of course, due to the fact that its a taboo in many countries, its rather difficult to come up with accurate data.

Bassed in what statistics? Usually the point 1 is more common than the point 2.

If you're in you're out, unless you're not in a position where you were in in the first place in which case you are neither in nor out but just in, but you're only out in here and you might still be in out there, but you could be out out there as well, depending on if you came out before coming in here.

Well folks do come in and out of here from time to time, and even some do occasionally comment, but as to whether one is out or in or here or there or where on Dukes list, well...

In is in and out is out, but some ins are out, and some outs are in. It is all a matter of one's differing milieux, eh?

You can only know that from actual experience.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

Depends on whether your relationship will be Platonic or Apollonian.

Platonic love is strictly admiration without physical environment. Apollonian love is strictly erotic.

Everyone does, pretty much. Having a warm body next to you in the middle of the night is a great boon. Having at least one other good friend is also greatly desired.

I am a reptile and I take offense to this comment. :P

You could always spend the night with a good-looking bird. :P

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Well, you need to find an appropriate wyrm.

Birds are warm blooded. Some wyrms are not. Your choice, but did you ever have a canary perched on your finger? Hot little feet.

Well, one reptile deserves another don't you think? I'd have referenced a dinosaur but it seems that they were warm blooded according to some new palaeontological evidence. Imagine a T-Rex with coloured feathers. Red probably.

Oh, and the last wyrm I saw represented was Fafnir, and he breathed fire, so I don't think he'd make a good bed mate.

Good on her!

Here's a picture of me and my boyfriend, we've been together for almost 4 months now, and it's been wonderful. Here's to another 4 months, and then a year!

I hate conforming to stereotypes! =P

+4000 points for you!!! Absolutely hate people conforming to any stereotype or trend and acting like clones of one another... What ever happened to individuality?

8 of the top 100 posters on Simtropolis are openly gay or bi. Dunno how that compares to the general population.

Well then again, the vast majority of the people on this here forum are indeed guys. Seeing also how guys have it somewhat harder than girls to step out of the closet, I predict this number "8 out of 100" is actually a lot higher! :)

I think I've heard in the past it's supposed to be about 10% of the general population (but that's just a very rough estimate since there's obviously people who are closeted their whole lives or don't like the same sex enough to consider themselves gay)

Problem is though, it's not just gay, bi, or straight... There's so much in between! One person could feel their attraction to one sex is next to 100%, while some other person might be 85% attracted to girls and 15% to guys <--- Would that be enough to put said person under one of these three labels? Nope... I personally don't like the strict labels they try to make us live by, but whatever, it makes no difference to me. Most people are awesome regardless of any of this horse-radish!

Unfortunately, no matter what demographic, some people in that demographic act like the stereotype of that demographic. I have met a few from a couple of demographics. Some stereotypes are positive but many are negative.

I think this is a political first. It certainly is for Canada.

As Premier, Ms. Wynne is now one of the most powerful persons in the country.

you guys are so cute :ducky: which one are you?

I think this is a political first. It certainly is for Canada.

More hopeful news from the north American continent! A fresh wind has been breezing from the other side of the pond, that's reassuring after so many darker years.

Also things are moving well in Europe for gay marriage at the moment. Yesterday a quarter of a million took the streets of Paris to demonstrate for marriage equality! Britain will introduce the gay marriage bill next month. All looks promising.

Looking to the East there's a different picture though, Russia's anti-gay bill has passed the first step in congress with only ONE person voting against it... so disappointing!
