I just got back from New York City, where I saw the Madison Square Garden concert of Japanese rock band L'Arc~en~Ciel as they continue their 20th Anniversary World Tour. Their band manager Oishi Masahiro was himself taking photographs of fans lining up at the barricades for the ticket stiles, and he has posted a few of these to Facebook and Twitter for band followers, where you can now see Yours Truly in full, goofy fan mode!

At one time, the visual kei music scene in Japan was supposedly big on glam gothic themes and flamboyant Versailles costumes, and all things suggestive of the relative exoticism of medieval or Baroque France blended with androgenous anime hair and kabuki were the pop culture rage. Hence, it is gratuitious French, not unlike the gratuitious German with decorative "metal umlauts" for heavy metal bands. I supposed when the genres meet, they can all wear powdered wigs and pairs of false facial moles...

Behold, the pop fetishes of Japanese teen girls. No, that is definitely not me anywhere in there, hehe, that is Gackt with bandmates of Malice Mizer. The wonder is why the artist Gackt would name himself after Klingon food.

L'Arc~en~Ciel has roots in that era, though they were never so far gone in cosplay land. They would say they just happened to have liked the printed look and sound of the name, without regard to its translated meaning.

Also Craig, as far as I know, the rail lines in Knoxville, go either to Chattanooga, or The Tri-Cities or Kentucky, I don't think there's a direct rail connection between Nashville and Knoxville.
