    Welcome to page 14

To all: As we have 3 remaining nations, and 3 excellent candidates - there is no need for voting for the moment. But let's wait until next Thursday. If we have more than 3 candidates, we'll have to vote. I would like to encourage all interested to apply, please see here the rules once more.

Rules to apply to three remaining nations in Experimental City Journal Preparations : Developing Internations

We need people with reasonable commitment. We all do have our lives, and are not playing everyday or even every week, but are willing to contribute to this thread. If you are having a flash that you want to participate in this, like mrbisonm says, think about it 24 hrs and come back, with petriknl's ideas. Also,  READ THIS THREAD FROM THE BEGINNING , because it is essential to understand the philosophy of our experiment before participating.

So, for the future participants, please apply, bearing the above in mind, and with following as your showcase:
    1. create a city or village... as realistic as possible, presented in a cool picture
    2. make something up .. like your history / economy / companies etc etc etc.
    3. and this all should fit in the current Istrinian cultural, historical etc. background (this means: read this thread from the beginning  - you don't have to make a Mediterranean copy, but catch the essence of the thread)
    4. explain why you would be an asset to the team (story telling, building style, BATting skills)
    5. Post your application on this thread.

DEADLINE is 1st September at 18:00 hrs CEDST (Paris/Amsterdam/Brussels/Warsaw) or 12:00 hrs  EDST (New York/Montreal/Toronto) . The current participants are judges.

Finally I can present the community some Regional pictures of the SSR Sushill. I have completed most of the terra forming and am pleased with the results.

The original map had a lot of completely flat city tiles ... just as I like it  44.gif  ... but, nevertheless, I was of the opinion that the Nation needed a bit more variety.

I have created some extra rivers, mountains and a lake to enhance gameplay. I hope you like the result as I am content with it.

I know the woods are not planted yet ... but thats what I am working on right now.

Mickebear - Thursday is fine with me, you did say earlier in the week that the deadline was Sept 1st, so i think it only fair we stick to that. Good luck to anyone who is thinking of entering, and to those who already have.

NicolaiS - Region's looking good, a good diversity of terrain, could do with more trees, but i'm sure your already on it. 44.gif

Sloppet: Actually the only common mods are cycledogg's terrain and PEG's Brigantine. The rest is up to each individual player. But I suppose we have all NAM...

Sloppet: I like it a lot too, especially the mosaic.

That brings me to the question: How on earth do you make a mosaic?  I know it has been done in photoshop ... but how?

    well, it's very easy

    html code:

    <DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
    <DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
    <DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
    <DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
    <DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
    <DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
    <DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
    <DIV align=center>&nbsp;</DIV>

you have to make it this way if you want all your pics in the center...
    for example

    <DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src= http:// w ww. imageshack.us/image1tes.jpeg align=baseline></DIV>
    <DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src= http://w w w.imageshack.us/image2tes.jpeg align=baseline></DIV>

and you will gat a mosaic... 44.gif
    Do you understand? 48.gif42.gif

Perhaps you will need to change the jpeg file in Irfanview to a greyscale jpeg ... worked for me.

you can do something this way:

    open your map in photoshop
click on the image, then click ctrl + c
later go to file - new and in the mode selection click greyscale, be sure the pixel size is the same!
later press ctrl + v in the new file and save it.. and you have a greyscale!44.gif

Nice Mosaic Sloppet. One query you might be able to help me on, how do you get the RCI ploppables to not become abandoned. Everytime i place one, its soon abandoned due to commute time, even though there's plenty of jobs around. 41.gif

Peng74: RCI (esp. R) are difficult, but try following: first zone some R, let a building to develop, then plop ONE R-ploppable at a time, let the game go for some time to see if it stays normal, then repeat. But be careful with the R ploppables, because often they have an unrealistic habitant figures.

    EDIT:
Pikatchoum: I will send you tomorrow new map and config file (I am now at work during whole night), and tell me if it works alright.

    Hope this helped.

    Mickebear

EDIT2: does anybody know suitable BATs with Mediterraneanish look, which would suit our CJ??? I haven't had time to even Lot Edit lately, let alone bat, and I am running out of ideas...

Mickebear - As for Mediterranean style buildings, hmmm, not sure i've seen many, although the houses shown in my suburbs shot, with the red rooves, kinda look mediterranean to me. 19.gif _mcafee_ok=1

Sloppet - I have no idea how you did that mosaic! 46.gif _mcafee_ok=1 i ended up inserting each imagine, one at a time. 44.gif _mcafee_ok=1

Pikatchoum: I sent new map for you. Please remove Cycledogg's terrain mod from your plugins while you do the rendering, after rendering is successful, close the game, and put back the Cycledogg's mod.

Peng74: Your mosaic is very good, but remember to put some more trees 1.gif

Thanks guys, point noted, must include more trees! 9.gif _mcafee_ok=1

As for Mediterranean style lots or bats. I did a search on the STEX, and all i could come up with was some Row homes by Frogface. I don't think there's many out there.

If you are considering going for a mediterranean style, what you need are lots of white buildings. I've been looking at a few pics on the net, and nearly all towns on the med are a dominated by white building, mainly with red rooves.

    <ahttp://www.vanish.net/images/p0602/DSCN1152.JPG align=baseline>

I don't know how easy it is to change building colours using the BAT,  but it might be a way for you to go about it.

well, but I think even if you haven't all the mediterrain buildings needed you can still make a good city /region etc. etc.
