Here's another quick update that i have been working on today. The render shows the base section and the mid section of the tower. This gives an idea of what the tower will start to look like in regards to textures.

That is so great! It all looks like it is supposed to be. By the way, what happened to the Crescent Tower?

Man, this is coming together to be a really nasty (in a good way) Freedom tower, certainly the most realistic I've seen so far.

I imagine in the end you'll brighten it up a little, and layer a reflection over the glass? To be blunt, it's a wee bit dark. 3.gif

here's an update on the roof of the Freedom Tower. Noted from earlier requests i will try to brighten up the window colours on the base to make them match the newer, lighter glass from more recent renders of the real tower. Also i will be posting the newer versions later today with the possibilities of some night renders comming soon.

All that detailing is amazing nycc06! The roof of the building really is beautiful. In fact, the entire tower is for that matter, and I can't wait to see it finished! In the spirit of constructive criticism however, the white of the windowpanes is a bit overbearing when you're zoomed farther out, and we lose the beauty factor of the glass- perhaps lower the thickness a bit? 4.gif Can't wait to see your alternative versions/nightlighting. 9.gif

thanks for the replies. Gecko_2006; in response to your previous comment, i can understand what you mean by the window frames being overbearing, however, at this stage, the window count is probably well over 60,000, and each window frame would have to be altered individually, which i really don't want to have to do. I'll try to tone the colour down a bit to see if this makes it any better.

Here's the alternate versions as promised. The bottom left is the original render with the new roof. The middle is with a lighter base and the bottom right is a slightly darker version of the model.

Let me know what you all think and i'll choose the version that is the most popular.

First off, I love them all... alright now for some input; The middle one seems to be the best and most acurate (had to open up some Freedom Tower pictures to be sure) and the one on the right seems to fit an evening shot, would need to see a night shot to make a definite decision. Anyway awsome work and best of luck 4.gif

All 3 of them looks impressive nycc,i cant really judge which is the proper version since certain pics of 1 World Trade Center has a dark wall base lobby entrance like This, which its the previous artist impression rendering.

This is the Latest Artist Rendering which shows a all glass lobby wall and looks like the models in pic 2 and 3,but if comparing it all,pic 1 will be my choice for the 1 World Trade Center tower because it looks very detailed and much solid with a dark base.

looking forward for more updates on this 1 WTC 4.gif

    all the best

Thanks for all of the replies. To sort of bridge the gap between the light and dark versions of the base, here's the second version of the tower with a new base. Let me know what you think.

Ok, here's the first night renders of the tower. I couldn't decide between the two window colours shown in the renders. In the actual pics of the tower, the night shots show gold/ orangey windows, but i also think that the green works quite well also. So, I'll leave you to decide which is best.

I was never a fan of the blueish windows, yellow all the way 3.gif

Looking great though, really impressive work. Can't say I like the light on dark on the bottom section though, I was partial to the original variation/ contrast.

its looking real good... tho i would redo the night windows. It will take time, but instead of single window on off, collapse into mesh and attach them in groups like 6 or 8, that way when you use the randomize night window script it will have a better office look to it. You may have to load an older version of the model, since the script once applied it not really reversible.

I've never seen any pictures of actual computer models of the Freedom towers. But I'm keen on the blue/green glow more than the other. I always liked that. I have blue hued lights in my own home, so I guess I'm biased. 3.gif
