GLR cars show up as colored boxes with downloads

I downloaded a few different GLR (Ground Light Rail) cars, using one at a time of course, because I thought the subway cars were a little ugly to be on the street, however, every download shows the cars as colored boxes. They are in the shape of the downloaded vehicle, but each side a different color like red, green, blue, etc. I've heard of this happening before, so is there a way to fix it? I downloaded all of the dependencies as well.

Did you check for any missing dependencies (more downloads)?

    Yeah, uhh...
Vester_DK (who has since left) was talking about changing the textures so they wouldn't require hardware rendering, but I don't think he got around to it.

What video card are you using?

Also what GLR files do you have?  Some of them like SFBT already have automata included with them.

I tried a few different sets all with recommendations from other users. none of them worked.

It seems that you still have an automata or mod conflict.  How is your plugins folder organized?

After you put it in hardware mode, try lowering the settings for shadows and building draw speed, then restart the game. That speeded up my game massively.

The reason why the GLR cars are showing up as colored boxes, is because they were rendered with textures larger than the software render mode can handle, there is no fix for that other than running SC4 in Hardware render mode.

Get the latest drivers for your GPU chipset,...there should also be some sort of software that comes with the chipset that enables you to "tweak" the GPU for optimal performance. Keep in mind that SimCity 4 was released in 2003 and many of the video cards available today, aren't listed in the Video Cards.sgr and the Graphics Rules.sgr file won't recognize that you are using a higher power GPU, or video card.

Or, you can just download the fix, which, by the way, nobody had a prayer of finding without some help. Thank you for the heads up,  vil.
