I wouldn't really bother with moving them out--it's actually kind of convenient having the Readme there, but if there's a more convenient spot for you to put it, it won't cause any issues.

Just don't delete it--it'll come in handy.4.gif

I was able to make GLR bridges before installing NAM 2009, now I can't. Were they eliminated?

I've read Z's thread about the development of his new traffic simulator over at SC4Devotion, but I don't understand one thing: with his simulator, the commute time graph in all of my city tiles has gone from showing a commute of anywhere between 15 and 110 minutes to between 0.5 and 3.0. Is that intentional, or is it conflicting with something? I don't mind short commutes, but 3 minutes seems a little low for the heart of a city (region) of 2 million sims. Can anyone shed some light on this topic?

toroca, what I know of Z's simulator is that there is a modified Graph Exemplar included for the Commute Time Graph, which adjusts the scale.  This is not present in the other Traffic Plugins.  I'd hazard a rough guess that it may be scaled in hours and not minutes, though Z may have a better explanation.

I just don't get the option to run a GLR bridge across a river anymore when I drag GLR tracks across one. It's very odd. It only shows the elevated rail bridge. 15.gif

There is a draggable GLR starter piece as part of NAM. You then use the elevated rail tracks to drag from the end of the piece. Makes things very easy.

The folder is there and contains other bridges I've installed. It also shows GHSR and HSR bridges. No GLR bridge. I've very sure I was able to make them before. I tried searching on STEX under "GLR" to see if the bridge came up, but nothing.

Another thing, the NAM Readme doc doesn't list the GLR bridge under the "Additional Bridges" section. I recently reinstalled my game, so I think I may have lost the bridge then. I'll have to look in my backups.

I also discovered something else that's not working: Wide angle avenue curves. The plugin is there, but I can't lay any wide angle avenues. Something's either wrong with my installation of NAM January '09, or there's something wrong with the release itself. See attached screenshot.

sounds like you are looking in the wrong place. the GLR bridge is contained in the "NetworkAddonMod_Additional_Bridges_Plugin.dat" file in the NAM plugins folder at My Documents/SimCity4/Network Addon Mod/Plugins.....you're looking int he additional bridges folder.....it is not a standalone bridge, so you will not find a download for it anywhere else other than the NAM.

EDIT: its the file at the top of the pic you attached....

from the sounds of it, you have a conflicting controller file installed. the problems you describe are not problems with the mod itself, cause i do not have these issues. there is a new release of the NAM essentials, March 09.

I just replaced my NAM Jan '09 with the March '09. I still have issues with bridges, and not being able to make wide radius avenue curves. In the screen shot below you can see what happens when I drag these three networks across water.

They revert into the networks they're based on. This is irritating because before January I was able to use all these networks correctly. I will try the NAM Essentials update, but shouldn't these work because I've installed the actual full March '09 NAM?

Where did my bridges go?

did you get fukuda's metal arched rail bridge (in the pic) from the STEX?

if so, remove it.  it has a conflicting RUL in it that is not compatible with the NAM.

edit: full march 09 NAM is same as Mar09 essentials.....

if you could grab a screenshot of the 'additional bridges' folder like above, then i can see which are the conflicting bridges.

Edit for solution:

the 3 bridges made by fukuda that are on the STEX are not compatible with the NAM.  i checked this myself.  each one of those 3 bridges contains the network .ini file, and since each bridge has zz_ in front, the .ini file in the bridge is overwriting the .ini file in the NAM bridge controller.

the .ini file in those bridges is very old, and does not support any existing or future bridges made after 007.  those bridges were later made compatible with NAM by removing the .ini file from the bridges.....

I tried your solution and got the HSR and GLR bridges to work. I still can't get the single rail bridge to work though.

Screenshots below. I took the screenshot of the Additional Bridges folder just before I removed that Metal Arch Bridge. That's why it still appears at the bottom of the list.

Jonathan, yes, I understand that. However, the bridges were not showing up in the dialog box. After I tried chOcO's suggestion, they now appear again. However, I'm still not getting the single rail bridge.

yup, jonathan is right.  you dont have any STR bridges installed.  you only have the HSRP bridge pack, the HSRP bridges included in the HSRP mod, the garabit rail and old road bridge.....

try to build the cable stayed HSR bridge.  if it works, you have the most recent bridge controller, which has the support for every available bridge.

ch0c0, thanks for the tip about that metal arch bridge. Jonathan, thanks for catching the STR bridge thing. I thought they were just part of NAM when you dragged across water, like GLR and HSR bridges. I'll download a couple of single track bridges and see what happens. I'm still wondering what's preventing me from plopping wide radius avenues, though. There may be another plugin conflict, but I have no idea what it may be.

BTW, I can make the cable stayed HSR bridge.

I'd suggest reinstalling the NAM

Jonathanquote>

Jonathan, I installed the full NAM March '09. I can't remember if the wide radius avenue curves had their own menu or if they show up under the "Avenue Puzzle Pieces" menu. They used to work. So I may have also installed a plugin that is blocking them. I can build wide radius roads and rail.
