When everyone thought that everything had been discovered all island all countries everything. THEY WHERE WRONG! out of no where had popped up a large island east of portugal. large enough to hold cities suburbs everything.

Captain Joao (john) portugain has made one of the next biggest discoveries of human kind how this was possible was un-explainable but captain portugain didn't care he knew this was his oppurtunity to own an island and make it into one of the worlds most knowned islands and most popular tourist destinations and this would take the help of portugal government too. and here in year 2000 had come of something un heard of and un-explainable and now the start of a new civilisation. he went back to portugal to get maaterials, equipment and more importantly people. finally the discovery of an island by portugal wasn't civilized by another country, but by portugal itself.

(note: the picture is the best i could do lol. my mouse isn't that great and therefore the shape of the island isn't that great but its fairly close, oh and its way over size lol)

update 2- and we have people...

finaly captain joao had come back with a crew of 50 just enough to get started...

there first prioreties was to get homes and sheds to hold there materials started...

prioreties number 2 to get building... get water and electricity started it was too hard just drill a few metres and they already had water with the first water pumps in place. with mistakes learnt already around the world with pollution and green energy there first source of power and was decided to remain that way was solar energy.

they finally began getting power lines in and rail roads to get everything where they needed it... the first rail road being called the captain joao rail lines.

and finally from just a population of 50 people it has now risen to a population of 1500 in 2 years.

there is now shopping centres farms for food and football fields for people to enjoy themselves here in PORTUGAIN.

update 3- the major factors

badajoz was growing fast and so was the population and therefore so was the demand for more and more recreation. more schools farms and sporting venues were being created and was making sims happy.

the one thing that could help sims to relax was a beach so there the first beach in portugain opened june 25th 2002.

more zones for houses being created

more houses being completed

the one thin that could help portugain grow faster than ever would be a new port so there it was the first port or portugain completed july 15th 2003.

one side of the river now known as Badajoz River was becoming crowded and to help this they built the first bridge ,bridge joao, to only consist of 2 lanes each side.

(this is just an overview to show u what ive done at this point)

GIGANTIC PORT and a quaint little town. Must be the first time I've seen that. I'm sure we'll see the town grow into it quickly, though!

And I thought I spied a skating rink up there in one of the neighborhoods. Any chance you could give me a link for it? Nice start on this journal, by the way. I'm sure we're all looking forward to more pictures!

Cool updates, I really like the town and the port.

As for making better pictures... 1) you can turn of the UDI icons in the MySims menu, 2) don't pause the game while taking screenshots to avoid the yellow frame. 3) Don't show too much panned-out views as this makes the buildings more grainy. 4) maybe try to make more zoomed-in pictures (you can do a mosaic if you want to show more of an area). 5) picture editing software (e.g. GIMP) to experiment with colors, levels or contrasts a little bit.

update 4: its growing...

the city is growing even more with population expecting to hit 11,500 or more

new shopping centres are being built and farms being removed. and more and more houses being completed than ever before.

these being the main two farms left on this side of badajoz.

and we take a closer look at the suburb here in badajoz.

as you can see in this picture the farms are no longer there, instead it has been replaced by more residential areas.

finally the people of portugain have crossed the river and began building this wasn't all that was done but was the first to be built, a hotel right on the river and for more supplies farms were built. plenty more residential areas and supermarkets had already been built but what came of it?? what does it look like... you shall find out soon enough.
