    Update Time!

So I thought i'd focus on roads for the next few updates, as I am a roadgeek 9.gif

This will be a two-part update, the second part

    coming tomorrow night.

    Tiny history lesson folks.

During the 1950's and 60's, the world was crazy about motorways. They were building them left to right, destroying anything that got in their way, going right through historic neighbourhoods. Eventually, people grew angry and revolted against such motorways, causing many projects to be left cancelled, and some uncompleted. Portage was no exception to these revolts, as evidenced with many motorway stubs/halfbuilt junctions.

Today we'll look at the M8

    motorwaysign.png

The M8 was a planned 13 mile long motorway to connect the M1 to the M5, and form an inner bypass to downtown Rogan.

    (I'll have a map eventually)

The first stage was built through the Shelby neighbourhood along an existing DeLeon Avenue, disconnected many side streets from the main road

    M8.jpg

The next stage was to cut straight through a neighbourhood, demolishing houses and all. A Y-stacked junction was built to reroute DeLeon Ave/M8 a bit south to connect with the new stretch of motorway. This left behind two slabs of abandoned pavement

    M8Y-stack.jpg

The road was built through , and the neighbourhood was divided into two.

As for the rest of the M8, we'll take a look at that tomorrow ;-)

I'll throw in a random neighbourhood picture for you

Nice motorway! I like the added touch of leaving the slabs of concrete. You should add a mossy, weedy texture for a future update 4.gif

The 'Y' stack looks great in with all those nice suburban streets.

    Hello fellow AFDES observer state:

Youre CJ is very aestheticly pleasing and it is very realistic too, with a well developed downtown and a smooth flowing highway through the suburbs you're CJ has a bright future!
