Power Plants

Hello All,

I have a few questions about Power Plants.

In regards to Natural Gas, Coal, and Oil;
1. How do they rank in Pollution?
2. If I want to reduce poluution, will 2 Gas plants make less, more, or the same amout as a Coal or Oil plant?

Coal Power Plants produce a lot (and I mean a lot) of pollution. They are the "dirtiest" Power Plants in the game.

Oil Plant is still very "dirty", but not as much as the Coal. Oil Plant is the best way to start a city (I think, but I could be wrong), in terms of pollution and $ (but I'm assuming that you know that already).

Gas Power Plants are a relatively "clean" power source, but they're not very useful due to their low capacity. And no, I don't think that two of them will make more pollution than the Oil, but I could be wrong.

Wait for more expert users though if you want better answers.

I normally go with gas for suburban cities, coal for dirty industrial, and have never actually ventured to try oil.

You should really try peg's geothermal power plant.

I was doing some figuring.

2 Gas = $18,000; Monthly = $800; 6000 MW/Month

1 Oil = $17,000; Monthly = $600; 7,000 MW/Month

So, is 2 Gas Plants better than 1 oil plant?

Coal fired plant pollution:

air:  200

water:  150

garbage:  25

Natural Gas fired Plant pollution:

air:  60

water:  65

garbage:  20

Oil fired plant pollution"

What is the stats for Oil?

If I use 2 Gas plants the Air stats stack right?

Yes each power plant will produce that amount of pollution.

it seems that 2 gas plants produce more garbage than 1 other plants

what about solar, nuclear and hydrogen power?

You would also need to consider the output of each different power plant to make a decision.

Coal:   6,000

Oil:  7,000

Natural Gas:  3,000

Nuclear:  16,000

Solar:  5,000

Hydrogen:  50,000

well i have found, by working costs, that the nuclear power plant is basically the same as the soalr power plants in terms of cost, its just got 4x the capacity, but capacity/costs works out the same as the solar power plant. i haven't worked out the hydrogen plant, but i would recommend using these sources of power, to  supplement , and not replace, your power generation. i usually shove all my power into a trash town, where all of the industry is, until my city has earned a solar plant, then i can put it down, and reduce my neighbor deal...
