    ComputerGuy890100: Thank you

    Raysfan16: Thank you

aiumkastarkius: Mission City is worth 380 dollars of 1929 stock money- or approximately the size of the current US economic stimulus package in modern day money.

Sternkrieg72: Thank you.  The depression updates won't come for a little bit, though.

    tahill79: Thank you

    chrissc94: Thank you

Korot: Thank you.  As for the Liberty Resort reading "Hotel ZaZa", I'm not quite sure how to fix that.

    GMT: Thank you

    suplado!: Thank you

Wow!  Record comments!  I have a few CJs to read and reply to now.  After this update, I'll have a list of 5 nominees for the Liberty Valley Planning Commission (LVPC)

    Update 46a: Mission City Harbor

In 1920, Mission City was a growing industrial center for the region, at 20,196 residents.  The Roaring '20s would bring a harbor, prosperity, industrial might, and the peak of competition between Mission City and Jefferson.

But first, something of urgent importance- the University.

In the 1920s, the Liberty Valley University expanded.  A sports center was built in 1921 with a football and baseball stadium, along with tennis courts and a soccer field.

    universitysportscenterlq3.jpg

Before dorms, the university used a system they called "rental shacks"  The shacks were built in four blocks, and were designed to be rented out for no cost to 2-5 students yearly.  The system started in 1925, and was abandoned in 1961.

    beforedormsaj3.jpg

As development on Mission Island continued, the farmland on the island was dissappearing rapidly.  Here's a photo in 1925 of east Mission Island.

    dissappearingfarmlandnx4.jpg

In 1923, construction began on an industrial seaport.  Here's a photo of the seaport in the 1920s.

    seaportln5.jpg

Here's a closeup of the rail bridge.

    seaportcloseupbk3.jpg

In 1924, the Courier rebuilt their headquarters.  The large loans taken out for the headquarters would ultimately nearly bankrupt the Courier by 1930.

    courierbuildingbm6.jpg

By 1925, Mission City was trying to get its first skyscraper.  Mission City still had a few advantages- it had a functioning seaport, a burgeoning industrial district, and a university.  Ultimately, though, Jefferson had the upper hand.

    Comments and questions are welcome!

Nominees for the Liberty Valley Planning Commission (LVPC): Part 1

Note: If you do not feel like joining the LVPC, then announce that you would not like to be nominated so we can pick someone else.

These are people who have commented enough to be eligible to be a nominee.  Just because you're on this list doesn't mean your name will appear on the  final ballots.

Nice port, but who designed that rail bridge? It is way to low for any ship to pass under, making the ships on the upstream side of it 'bridge locked,' as the bridge on the other side of mission island isn't high enough either for most ships, at leat for those in the harbour.

    Shingure: Thank you

    Raysfan16: Thank you

Korot: Thank you.  The bridge opens whenever a large ship needs to pass.

    I'm so sorry, everyone

I was going to Mission City to prepare the next update, and when the city opened, the game crashed.  I tried to open the city again, and the game crashed.  Then, I tried backing up the files.  The game still crashed.  Mission City is to far along and too important to start over.

I'm so sorry, everyone.  Due to technical problems, this CJ is forced to discontinue.

AND I HAD IT PERFECT!!!  I'D JUST GOTTEN A REVIEW BY SHINGURE THAT WAS GOOD!  I WAS UP TO THE 1920s AFTER 2 MONTHS OF PLAYING, AND THEN THE GAME REFUSES TO WORK!!!!  SO $^#$$^*^^%^#^#ING UNFAIR!!!!

    26.gif45.gif8.gif

AND I AM DEAD SERIOUS!!!  IF I GET ANY COMMENTS SAYING LOL, HA, ROFL, OR ANY OTHER LAUGHTER, I WILL FLAME YOU LIKE YOU'VE NEVER BEEN FLAMED BEFORE!!!!!!

I probably won't start another CJ for a bit... the perfect CJ that is suddenly unusable is not something I can just... just.... automatically recover from... *sob*

Tough luck man. I can't tell you how many times that's happened to me. But starting all over again does open new doors. When you're ready to start again, I know I'll be ready to tune in!

phoenix7 has a good idea. If it works, then what I just said can be disregarded. If not... then... I'm going to have to come up with another idea.

phoenix7 had a good idea.  I reinstalled the game- WITHOUT SAVING FILES.  I re-applied backed up files from 1920.  So, I'll only have to re-install plugins, figure out how far I am behind, and get back to work.  Updates 45 and 46 will probably have to be redone.  However, just in case I delete those updates, here's the list of nominees, updated.

Final diagnosis- This CJ is dead... time of death, 6:23pm on February 16, 2009. After about 8 hours in the hospital, doctors could not figure out what was happening to this CJ, other than the symptoms- Mission City would crash every time the game opened. A fairly large reception of people sat in the waiting rooms for hours. The news of the death of this beloved CJ is just spreading, and will cause untold misery and panic.

Ultimately, N106, grieving over the loss of his second CJ, will ultimately eventually have a third one, which will hopefully live to die of old age, instead of the premature deaths wrought on the previous two CJs.

Have you looked into a plugin/custom content that you recently downloaded? Possibly that could be the cause of the continued crashes?

OMG! I followed this one from the begging! It inspired me to start a CJ (which I have not started yet, still transforming the map)! Anyway, could you post when you start your new CJ on here? I cant wait to see it =T. Still really depressed about this one.

Good Luck with your CJ man, this by far is one of the best, even if it isn't done. It would be become a great modern day city, I was so excited to see it happen =T

There is a way to get this CJ to survive. This morning, I was thinking- a true artist sees not roadblocks, but opportunities. However, 2 things have to happen:

    1) The new city I start in place of the old Mission City must be accessible

    2) My parents must not take away use of the computer for my extremely bad grades. If that does happen, then this is my last post.

EDIT: My parents are being reasonable.  You can expect the next update by Friday if I manage to rebuild Mission City.

Hey.....RL is first, always. I had a 4.08 GPA last quarter during school (in case your school doesnt do GPA, that means I got all A's and one B with bonus points due to taking Honors classes)

    Resurrection of a CJ

    Replies

Sternkrieg72: No next one.  I've figured out a way to bring this one back to life, and it will be awesome.

phoenix7: I tried.  It didn't work, but I figured out another solution.

Retrodude818: I'm starting again right now.  This CJ is back to life.

    chrissc94: It will survive.

Hawkeye9: This is my CJ, and I'm not starting a new one.  LIBERTY VALLEY FOREVER!!!!

dfnva: It probably was.  But, nothing I can do about it.  So, I guess I'll just start over Mission City.

ComputerGuy890100: I've figured out a way to bring the CJ back.  Can't wait for the wiki article.

bracra1: I'm keeping this CJ, I'm thrilled that I've inspired you, and this CJ is back to life!

830point35: Put your flag back up.  Modern medicine has managed to cure this CJ!

Raysfan16: Actually, my grades are back up now, so this CJ shall continue

So, the update won't be ready for a few days, but the election can be held while we wait.  I've narrowed the list down to 10 nominees.  5 will end up holding high offices in the LVPA, while the other 5 will gain membership, become backups in the event that someone cannot hold a position.

    So, here's the 10 nominees.

    Raysfan16

    ComputerGuy890100

    GreekMan

    newyorkrunaway1

    Hawkeye9

    Shingure

    dfnva

    suplado!

    Schulmanator

    Tomasneto

These are the people who have done one of two things:

    1) showed lots of loyalty

    2) created an awesome CJ and commented here

If you reject your nomination, say so immediately, and I will find another candidate.  Voting starts after I eat dinner tonight.

I, Raysfan16, respectfully decline your nomination in the Liberty County Planning Commission.

I am starting a quest to become Emperor of Liberty County! 9.gif

Just kidding, thanks for putting me on the ballot, and I can't wait to win a top spot!

Well at-least your CJ before the death of it was good. Sucks for the this CJ to close. This happens to be one of my favorite one. But same happened to me. Tromel City. Dead... Sliverton dead...... Basically, i'm on my third with you. We're in the same boat but on a different one with ideas and cities. Anyways, my point is good luck on this.

I will now start the elections. It is not too late to reject the nomination. The top 5 in election primaries will be counted next update. After that, they will compete for the top spots in a general election.
