These are not the real streets, these lines are baselines for measuring key landmark, topograghical markers for a more realistic SF.

Exact re-release date not determined, but it will be soon!

BLOODY HELL!

When will anybody include San Jose and the South Bay in their SF Bay Area CJ???

I have only seen one, but it was very sketchy.

BTW, good start 1.gif.

Paroxysm, you could make your own. Anyway, the layout looks good, although Van Ness is curiously absent. I think you should have less districts this time, maybe a couple in SF and then one for each of the other counties.

    Reconstructing San Francisco

    19thCentury.jpg

    > 3.gif>

Welcome back to the San Francisco Bay Authority (AKA – SFBA-v-0.2). This version will start from day one groundwork of the central bay area. As you can see I have laid some baselines for measurement purposes ONLY(Repeat-“these are NOT roads, but they are close to where the real roads will go”2.gif. My sources include many “old” maps and “new” maps of San Francisco. I have started with a 19th Century map, a 1906 map, and a 1920’s era map. 1936 is when construction on the bay bridge began, so I will not place them until much later. As the city progresses further, I will use 1950’s through current day, in order to lay in the mass transit lines (i.e. GLR and Freeways). Rail line will be laid using today’s current placement.

My math used for conversions (Not 100% accurate but close enough for SC4 conversions to within 1 lot):

    1 Lot = 15.625 meters = 51.25 Feet = ~0.01 Miles

    64 Lots = 1000 meters = 3280.50 Feet = ~0.60 Miles

    128 Lots = 2000 meters = 6561.25 Feet = ~1.25 Miles

    256 Lots = 4000 meters = 13122.50 Feet = ~2.50 Miles

    > 3.gif>

    Sample Block Sizes -

(This requires constant readjustments, and continual measurements against the referenced baselines) –

    Main SF – 5 x 8 Blocks or 5x 7 Blocks

    West SF – 5 x 11 Blocks or 5 x 10 Blocks

SOMA – 16 x 9 Blocks (on a diagonal, hint use graph paper)

    > 3.gif>

Skewed Reality-  San Francisco appears to run a basic North/South & East/West orientation but it doesn’t. It does in Richmond and Sunset. It also does in the old east part of the city. BUT when these two areas met near the eastern portion of Golden Gate Park, there is a 7 degree (7 out of 360 degrees) skew! SC4 only “allows” for 90 degree and a false 45 degree, much less a 7 degree! And the supposive 45 degree areas of Bay View, and SOMA don’t go 45 degrees, neither does Market. In reality, it is closer to 30 degrees. So sacrifices have to be made and street realignments have occurred to get this about 90%ish accurate. To the lay reader this recreation will look spot-on. Meanwhile to the natives of SF, they will spot numerous  of these errors/fixes that I had to do to make it work without have crazy stair-stepped streets every 4 to 8 lots.(i.e. _____|---------, very unrealistic going 8 across one up then eight across then one up and so on).

The First post and area will be the ferry terminal area of the terminus of Market.

    Coming soon.

Good see this coming back! I got a couple more buildings coming your way. For security's sake sometimes I copy the sc4city file from the region folder and back it up in a separate folder just in case. I usually do this only with me mega huge cities of 600,000+ population. With the 2 gig of plugins I use and the huge file SC4 sometimes crashes during a save and blanks out the whole city. So I've learned to back my city files up. Since you are doing a recreation CJ I suggest you do the same. For now I got 650 California St Building coming up. I also got my eye on one of the Hyatt's as well (theres 2 i think).

    I love coffee and buildings.

Looks great! Just wonder how you are going to place the zoning on the  !-80 area, because of  the grid.
