You know every floor in that tower was sold out within days. This one company wanted to buy like 40 floors but all investors were limited to a few floors each. Pretty crazy!

Oh well...China will make something bigger eventually I bet. Or India.

I actually like The Building. Looks Kinda futuristic. Don't know if i'd care for looking down from the top floor though

The thing I take away from that picture is how damn close to vast expanses of endless cheap sandy land it is....and thus how pointless the building is.

But then again, they have reclaimed land here.

...keeping in mind that the fundemental economics of a skyscraper is that it is less expensive to build UP than OUT. Every time I see a pic of the building or city I imigine the caption in massive white letters across the top, "ECONOMICS FAIL".

If they could pack up and go, I'd call the whole city a circus, but unfortunately, the spectical is limited to those who find themselves living there. And like Wyoming, if you find yourself living in Dubai, it's because you don't know anything else of the outside world or something has gone horribly wrong in your life.

Hey, I resent that statement! 3.gif  I have lived in 13 different cities in 8 different states, I know something other than Wyoming.19.gif  I choose to live here because I like the isolation away from bigger cities in more populated states.  Wyoming is financially doing better than any other state in the country despite the current situation.  Besides, Wyoming is easily one of the most beautiful states in the nation.  The Bighorns, Tetons, Yellowstone, Devils Tower, Medicine Bow, Black Hills, Snowy Range, Flaming Gorge, and Fossil Butte are all located in this beautiful state!  Now if the wind would just die down a little bit.  After all, Wyoming is the windiest state in the country and my hometown is the windiest city in the country. 47.gif  And PS, absolutely nothing has gone wrong in my life neither.  I love my life! 44.gif

Sorry, had to get that off of my back.

And as far as Dubai goes, I wouldn't want to live their, but that's just my opinion.  The Burj Dubai is a monstrosity, but it's cool that we humans could build something like that.  Don't know if they will be able to actually make any $ off of it, but my guess would be that it will drive up the cost of nearby property with a view of this monstrosity.

Now the question is, how long would take for the building to be at least 80% occupied?

Okay, big and shiny is fine, when it can be justified. I just don't see any need to build something like this.

And I still say it looks like somehting the Combine would build.

You're asking WHY there's a NEED to build it? Hello? Every floor got sold out in like 4 days! I think that's enough of a need to build more. (I think they are)

Wow from that picture, Dubai looks like a nice place to live...

Actually, it looks sorta like China, except the country as a whole is a lot uglier and made of sand...

That's probably the nicest pic of Dubai I've seen. It looks really nice. It doesn't even look like a desert.  46.gif

For real that highway looks photoshopped.

Dubai will have an impressive and diverse skyline.

    The real-life RHW3.gif

Dubai and the entire UAE have been making some fantastic highways over the past few years.  I think they built a 8-lane monster across the desert and you never see more than 2 cars traveling it 3.gif.  At least Dubai's are getting some use.

Looks like a Chinese city! Looks pretty huge from that angle... makes you wonder why they have a massive highway going to the desert. 3.gif

That is just scary! I don't believe it! UAE is amazing, they are such creative people, aren't they?

@Micah: Silly you, to connect to all the other major urban developments in the UAE! xD
