Its Official... "Tropico 3 announced! Viva El Presidente! November 20, 2008 We at Haemimont Games are proud to announce Tropico 3, developed in partnership with Kalypso Media. The game will return to the roots of the series, putting the player into the shoes of "El Presidente" - a dictator governing over an island banana republic. Staying true to spirit of Tropico, the new game will be a construction and management simulation with heavy emphasis on city building. Tropico 3 is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2009." Source: http://www.haemimontgames.com/news/index.html

I've recently installed Tropico to see how different political approaches (Snowball vs. Napoleon) would turn out.

OH MY GOD YES!!!!!!

*is officially in Heaven*

First The Sims 3, then Cities XL, NOW TROPICO 3? AND the addition of seeing Bush get kicked out the whitehouse may just make this the best year in history.

^ Lets just hope its not like SCS.

Thinking of all the potential the SimCity franchise holds and then creating SCS was a massive disapointment. With any luck the developers of Tropico 3 won't make the same mistake EA did.

I had the first one and played it for ages!!

I didn't bother with the second as I wasn't interested by the pirate theme.

I hope this will be good and moreover I hope my PC will be able to run it!!!!

I agree - I never played number 2 but I heard that it was no where as good as the first one so I didn't buy it.

Did anyone actually play the second one? I actually still play the first, but I always end up created a communist country, no matter how I intend the Island to be like. No matter, Vive La Tropico III! (and lets hope its similar to the first in general awesomeness)

Worms/Bracknell/Baltimore 11th September, 2009

Kalypso Media today release the demo version of the upcoming strategy game TROPICO 3. Take control of El Presidente and play the game tutorial and the first two missions of the full version.

MISSION 1: Bananas

The abdication of the old Presidente of St. Helena provided the perfect opportunity for your rise to power. Now as the head of state it is your job to lead this small island nation to a new age of prosperity.

St. Helena is a modest island with rich and fertile lands, which have attracted the attention of the American food conglomerate Fruitas LTD. You should make use of the gringos to secure the financial future of the island as well as your own Swiss Bank Account.

MISSION 2: Second Chance

The band of rebels led by your twin managed to drive you out of your own island. Taking the entire treasury, you hitched a ride on an old fishing boat, seeking refuge in your summer residence on the island of El Acantilado.

Chased away from their own homes, your most loyal supporters have followed you. Taking the burden of leadership once again you have promised them a fresh start. Your new island is a poor and dry hunk of rock. Several rich iron ore deposits are its only viable resources…..

Tropico 3 goes back to the roots of the hit strategy series closely following the original Tropico story-line. Tropico 3 is being developed by Haemimont Games who previously developed the popular Imperium Romanum and Grand Ages: Rome for Kalypso Media.

Anyone has played the demo? I found it really fun, will probably buy it at release.

I never played the older Tropico games but I think it's a really cool mix between city sim and strategy game. Lots of nice little details and things to just jerk around with. 4.gif
