Well, here is  where the Ganoga Valley began, I mean the whole planet of Genesis started here with the solid and above water land.

pant, pant, pant, ahem, pant, pant, pant, enheh clears throat... 46.gif

Whew!!! Finally made it through all 108 pages of the classic!9.gif 39.gif39.gif

Al righty-then, MrB!  Worth the time and the read!!!44.gif

Most of the CJ's I've read since joining SimTropolis tend to lend themselves to differing styles and categories and I read them as such.  Yours  (and it's the oldest active one right?)has reached across the ways of making a CJ, entertaining us with both story and quality city building.  I always liked the concept of the start of highlighting the lives of ordinary & extraordinary citizens across backdrop of massive behind the scenes events both of nature

and man, which you've still kept up!!  During those pages I saw little evidence of RLS other than a needed vacation or two!  Okay I'll stop slobbering!  9.gif

Anyway, wow, keep it up and I'm looking forward to reading about the next mystery, the "Vegas of Genesis" and the next 100+ pages! (you'll still be doing it by then, I know your style by now ! 9.gif)

    Peace!  (and quiet) 10.gif

Very cool stuff you have done over the past couple of updates my friend. The "S" shaped appartments especially caught my eye. I have never seen them before. Your also quite the storyteller. And here I thought your talent was only in making great cityscapes..

I'm not suprised your journal is 109 pages (and counting)..

    Great job..

Peng74, the one on the right is an asteroid and the left is an underwater volcano.
purpledaddy, nice of you to have commented like this. It was appreciated, but I don't think that I will be doing another 100 pages......lol
    hamsterTK. monster?.....hm, not on Genesis I think......lol
sorchin, another nice comment. Thanks. The *S-Living Appartments* are Nexis lots, never been uploaded, that's why you never saw them.

Ok, ever wondered what the Ganoga Valley really looks like? Here it is........just another teaser.

    ganogavalleyfotobc5.jpg

I will be back this weekend with the part two of the Gloryville update.......imagine, 18 pictures!

Have a nice week, at least the rest of it.

    Gloryville.......................The Endpart 11
    Part B..............Tenzel and Oxalis/Megantic

Today we visit the North and the far-east of Gloryville, Tenzel Outlet and the Las Vegas of Genesis, Oxalis/Megantic, also called Grey Rock by the westerners. Be aware.....18 pictures!!

    1genesisivgloryvilleregkq5.jpg

We will start off with Tenzel Outlet. Although we already have seen a good part of it in the Axis City update, there's still the major part that belongs to Gloryville today, which is somewhat interesting to see and has also some hidden history to it. Tenzel was the second town officially founded on Genesis, as a harbour for Gloryville, because it had deeper waters close to the coast. It didn't quite work out this way though, when the mayor of Axis, some years later, decided to open an even bigger and spacier harbour. The competition was intense. Then Tenzel became more of an industrial part of Gloryville in the earlier years, and that changed again after they lost their harbour, and even worse when it got attached to Gloryville's administration. The first industry that arrived in Tenzel Outlet was the Smurfer Steel Ltd, which produced heavy and clean metals from the ore harvest of the MacVicar Mines (or known as the Genesis Standard Mines). It was the major employee in Tenzel for more than 60 years. During the same time two more bigger Companies were born here, the Swamper Signs ltd and the Jim's Construction Company. It was also the town to receive the second Starbuck café owned by Dr Evel at that time and is today more than 100 strong on Genesis. Famous people that lived here were Miss Evermind, the former PDG of the Genesis Orbital Stations (GOS) and partial Creator of  *Forscher One*, the vessel that once reached the other side of the vast empty solar system and still emits new and pics from the other side of the universe. Another one was Jim, the biggest Mansion builder around and Mr Ninten, who was in the same buissness of construction, but concentrating and specializing in Hi-Risers. And least , not last, Mr Swamper of the famous and only sign Company on Genesis, the Swamper Signs ltd, which is now situated in Nexis City.
This was a little history of Tenzel Outlet which is built right near the Tenzel river's merge into the sea. It was entirely built by the Gaburans from Mahoon at that time, therefor a Housing project was built before to hold several hundreds workers. On this Retro picture below, we see the beginning of it all, when the power Company was founded to produce the power for Gloryville. Today Gloryville gets the power from the massive Powerstation in the Nexis Islands.( we get to see that in a later update). Power is produced from the newly found OCEG, Oxygen Compulsive Erosion Gas.

    2tenzeloutletretronh4.jpg

Tenzel outlet is the river delta of the big and winding Tenzel River, also the longest river on Genesis. Coming from the far western mountains, it sneaks through the valleys of the western Regions into Genesis's plains, only to empty itself into the Nexis lake and continue through the counties of Roundlake and Axis right into the sea right here in Tenzel Outlet, leaving a big and some smaller islands at its mouth. Pig's Island, the biggest one, was named after the great inondation of the Hawklyn Valley (West Axis today) that brought down some of the pigs from the Hawklyn farms and later they reproduced themselves wildly. As we can see there are several smaller islands too. The little smaller island that is blocking the river's mouth is called Jim's Island, because Mr Jim himself was the former owner of 90% of the island. The one on the left of the last one is Kotos, and above is the shell Island. The last one which is slightly attached to the Tenzelpart of Gloryville is called Bimmer island, Hanging in between the mainland and Pig's Island, having belonged to Gary Bimmer one time long ago. Gary Bimmer was the Captain of the second spaceship that arrived on Genesis.

    3tenzeloutletviewvp6.jpg

Pig's island is today completely overbuilt. It happened so fast that no one in the comitee ever realized that it was overbuilt, and then it was to late to form a park, the buildings and streets covered everything. It was later when a row some homes burnt down, that a smaller park was created (upper left of the picture below). The Boulevard that crosses Pig's Island from one end to the other is today called the Evermind Blvd, named after the famous spaceship engineer Miss Evermind, who once had a beautiful mansion with a lot of land here, where some hunters had the freedom to hunt the wild pigs. Of course, no more pigs have been seen here for many years except for a few that awfully look like humans.

    4tenzelblvdjj1.jpg

What once was the first and the biggest industry on Genesis, is today only a pile of pure and useless garbage, not recycable and just left there to rotten away by itself. Here once stood the mighty industry of the Smurfer Steel limited. When Arthur MacVicar found iron ore on Genesis near Coarseville, he needed a melting industry to convert the ore into metals. Mr Smurfer had the first idea to start the refining of the ore and soon it became the biggest producing industry in the region hiring more than 4,000 workers. Everyone in Tenzel once worked more or less for this Company. Some 28 years ago, the industry was sold to the Sirius Group (as almost everything else) and it was 24 years ago that it was shut and torn down. Now they're waiting to clean up the mess eversince, depollute the land and then build residential appartments at one time, which are so much needed in Gloryville and its neighbors. The new Steel manufacturing Industries are now in Cedar Bay, the biggest industrial park ever built. (that is near Nexis City)

    5tenzelsmurferdownfo9.jpg

As most of the industry has left Tenzel Outlet to become more and more residential, Cedar Bay got so big with its industries, that only a few and smaller Industries are still hanging in Tenzel trying to survive. Here is an example of these menaced manufactures (pic below), the Gokolt Co, which manufactures copper pipes, tools and other things. Working only with a part-time pace, it still hires some 400 people day and night though.

    6tenzelmanufnitexx0.jpg

Now let's go to the peninsula of Oxalis with the Grey Rock Megantic Mountain, just east of Tenzel. We all know from the discovery of this mountain that certain plants which only grow here on the mountain, exercise a certain effect on physical and mental health. It was Miss Kitty Kat from Hawklyn Valley that was able to identify the source of this flora in the earlier years. Eversince the same plants have been grown artificially in the Ganoge Valley mountain chain and now since more than 25 years, the effect is available in capsule form in Drugstores everywhere. This is also the main reason that Oxalis became a vacation resort in the beginning and today is much more than this with it being comparable somehow with Las Vegas on planet earth, not yet discovered by the Genesians.
Except for the village of Oxalis and some private land owned by folks such as the Sven family, most of the land, sea and buildings belongs to the gouvernment and is protected with the regional laws.
Let's have a look where it all started. The village started on the southside of the island, on the *sunny side* as they say. Some homes and some hotels were the first to appear, which were finally tossed aside to make room for the bigger Hotels, Casinos and other touristic attractions. The whole village moved westward for more than a mile.

    7mountmeganticretroqb9.jpg

And this is what it looks like today, also called today by many the Grey Rock area. The village is now some 5,000 strong, but hardly will grow anymore because the space for construction is now limited everywhere on this peninsula. Overbuilding and overpopulation was feared last years and permits to construct are now limited.
Two big Bays are the main attraction sites for construction of the island . The mountain is inaccessible for the public to conserve its rare and unique nature and flora, and the whole northern side has become a wildlife reserve, only 14 years ago.
Oxalis /Megantic is not seasonable, since here it is always nice and warmer than anywhere else on Genesis. It is controlled weatherwise by the sea and warm eastwinds. We will later see the tropical side of it, then the hardwood forest a little higher that end into the conifers and on top it's icy cold and windy weather and hardly any growth.

    8oxalisviewpq3.jpg

In Oxalis/Megantic one will be able to find anything and everything for those who are looking for entertainment and relaxation. Hotels and casinos, playparks and beaches, shopping malls and simple souvenir shops, nothing is forgotten, and still more construction is undergoing inside the town changing the face of the town every year or so.

    9oxaliscasinoesdq5.jpg

Special about this mountain also is the fog that slowly sneaks down the hills to swallow first the forests and later at night the buildings and the whole town including the beaches. This is a daily event that many come to experience. The smell and feel of this fog makes people mysteriously feel good. Here is the Megantic bay (south-eastern side) with its slightly warmer waters.

    10oxalisbayqt7.jpg

Megantic bay is at the moment the most visited part of the peninsula. It has boatrides, some small submarines travel through the enormous coral riff and helicopter rides bring you closer to the mountain and islands. A real paradise for those who enjoy diving, the bay is full of marvelous undersea surprises and wonders.

    11oxalisbackbayil4.jpg

Of course, what is a family resort town without a beach? And here you have two large beaches that can hold up to 10,000 bathers at one time.Considered as one of the cleanest places on Genesis, these beaches hire a lot of villagers for the hourly cleaning and maintenance and also keep the economy going. Besides there is not one danger to see any sea predators coming to this area, since none have been seen for the last 50 years, all kept away by some underwater hydromystic soundwave that is emitted every hour.

    12oxalisbeachdr7.jpg

Here in the east part of the peninsula, one can rent a room in a small town that was historically rebuilt here with original materials brought from Uru during the Meteor crisis and relive a few days of that time that today is a part of Uru's history, or...if you can afford it, rent a room at the Royal Megantic Castle or any other modern or supermodern hotel. Something here for every taste and budget. So much to see live and experience you will have to come back next year.

    13oxalisoldtownha3.jpg

Here's a close look at the corals of the Megantic Bay, which makes it so much desirable to see, especially underwater. Simply a must place to visit.

    14oxaliscoralsse3.jpg

Now all we saw on the above pictures is only the tophalf of the town, since it continues underground with hotels, restaurants, boutiques and shopping malls. One third of the whole town has an underground life, which is as busy as the above ground. Here's one of the two main entrances, one in the east and one in the west (as this one on the picture below), but it also has more that 30 smaller access entries here and there, whether outside and inside some buildings. A Haven for the Gamer and shopper, but also a place to get lost....so you better make sure to grab a map before entering the world under the mountain.

    15oxalisundergroundtownzj2.jpg

Near the two biggest (and also oldest) Tower Hotels on the southside, we can clearly see the tropical influence of nature and almost feel the warmth of it. Just imagine to smell the salty air, feel the light breeze from the east and hear the sounds of the waves..........ahhhhhhh.

    16oxalistropicalhotelssd1.jpg

*The Jewel of the Nite* as some call it. Once the darkness takes over Oxalis/Megantic, it becomes alive and lit by all means. It is easily seen and recognized from the airplanes or even from Axis Harbour and Gloryville Bay, the town becomes sparkling as a diamond necklace in candle light. On the left of the picture we can see the Queen of Nexis, one of the most luxurious touristic Cruisers around, which travels from one bay or one city to another. The last time we saw her was in the Axis harbour, some months ago. Remember?

    17oxalisjeweloftheniteqc6.jpg

And here is another picture of the Oxalis/Megantic county viewed from a different angle, the southside of the mountain.

    18oxalissecondviewih6.jpg

I hope you again enjoyed this part of the Gloryville update and leave tons of comments. It was a lot of work to present this. The next time I will come back, it will be with Atlas,Skinner and Three Towers, the third part of this series. We will have a closer look at the armybase, the richfolks county and some weird places on a mountain. Meanwhile the teasers of the Ganoga Valley will take an end with one last picture, but good news, I have some White Sands Teasers......haha
See you all then and be sure to be around not to miss anything. Have a nice weekend, Friends of NoG.

Well it looks like it didn't take two years (for you) and four months (for me) this time, Mr.B.  9.gif

I like your before and after pictures of Tenzel Outlet and Oxalis along with the ongoing storylinesof the citizen's lives which is one of CJ's signature styles.  I also liked that you able to show the ugly (in Tenzel) and beauty (in Oxalis) all in the same post. 10.gif  I guess "keep up the good job" would be kind of redundant by now, huh! 9.gif

This is a very wild concept. You seem adept at building on tough terrains. The region shots are incredible. I get envious.....!!

However, I wouldn't want to park at your beaches:

At least not until I get a new parking brake for my car....

    Thanks for dropping in.

I know that beachparking lot is somewhat very steep..... geeez, I didn't even realize it myself and now I don't feel like to rebuild it. It takes handbrakes in excellent condition (simbrakes?).....lol

hamsterTK, that's another thing I saw, that the boat might have some difficulties to get out of these islands, but you know, it is on Genesis and there they have better Captains than on earth. It's SIM ple for them.

Voulpiotis, if you want a big regional foto, have a look at this link. It is an olderpicture though.

If you talk about the Gloryville endparts , there will be  three updates left.

The southern part including Atlas,Skinner and Three Towers (which will be next on the list) , the airport in White Sands and the downtown itself of Gloryville.

And if you were talking about the regional endparts, there will be some five of them left, not counting the possibility of several  posts per update.

1.Nexis City and surroundings, like Cedar Bay, Nexis Islands, Crater's Notch,Cashmere etc

2.New Saphire, including Sandhill,Sapporo Mountain, Huberton, Wallace etc

3.Pharaon, also Bigrock, Naganik, Willow, Cherbrook and Cross Canyon (Hawklyn Farms)

4.Small Farming Communities, consisting of unseen municipalities randomly chosen in Genesis Region.

    and the last not least........

5.The Ganoga Valley, the complete Valley from Thunderlake toBarelake, the untouched part of Genesis, consisting of 10 townships.

I hope to finish the CJ with one last special  historical update and pictures of all the participant characters made with the Sim2 -TS2BodyShop tool, on the same day in March 2007 when I started this CJ 4 years earlier.

Just to let you all know that RL has taken me again.

I have already selected all the pictures that are needed for the next update and I also started the writing, but heck, there's so much to show and tell about these three cities that are the update 3 of the Gloryville region. This will probably the biggest update I have done in a long time since out of 50 or so pictures that I took, I chose 30 to upload......imagine....30. Wow.....and there isn't one of them that's too much. Anyways, I will have it done within the next week or two at the latest.

Meanwhile here's a teaser of Three Towers, the community in the middle of those three.

When the city began to build on the mountain side and while digging out some terraces for residential uses, they pierced one of the biggest waterwells on Genesis, some 300,000 Gallons an hour. Since they didn't need all that clean and cold water, they used it for something else, a beautiful creekpark?

    ThreeTowers-Teasers.jpg

Have a nice weekend, I'll be back later with another teaser, this time from the Skinner county, remember, the had the biggest party there ever, the Slayerparty.
