Pittsburgh - An Australian CJ

Hi everyone. Sorry for the delay on this update but I spent the last three days reading zelgadis' CJ which is really good. Anywho here's the update.

UPDATE 8

A random man named Charles Kensington was walking through the bush, about 20 kilometres east of Pittsburgh. He was sent on an expedition to find a route to Adelaide, as surprisingly there was still no land conection between Perth and Pittsburgh to the rest of Australia. Charles was accompanied by Robert Wallace, another explorer.

  Robert asked Charles "How many days to you think it'll take to reach Adelaide?"

"We've only been walking for one day it'll certainly take longer than that" replied Charles.

"Yes I'm aware of that. I'm just asking what your estimate is"

"Well I can't make an estimate until we have already be...Watch out for that log Robert!" Robert tripped over a tree root poking out of the ground. "Are you okay?" Charles asked pointlessly. Robert just gazed ahead of him. To Charles it appeared as if he was gazing into thin air. "Robert?" 

"There's gold!" Robert yelled in excitement. Right in front of Robert's face, was a nugget of gold the size of a fist. Charles picked up the nugget and gazed at it as Robert stood up and tidyed himself. "We're the first people to find gold in Western Australia. We'll be rich!" Robert said with excitement. 

"Yes...we will be rich" Charles muttered under his breath. He swung the golden nugget at Robert's face, knocking him unconscious. Charles threw a passed out Robert into a billabong and made his way back to Pittsburgh.

In Pittsburgh-

Governor George was sitting at the head of a table in another boring meeting that would get nowhere. 

"And I say we should ride our carriages on the left side of the road!" yelled one counciler to the other.

"No, we should drive them on the right side of the road! Becuase that's the right side to pick!"

"It will cause a whole lot of confusion whenever someone drives from here to Perth!"

"So what we'll just follow everyone else then and be sheep?" 

Governor George thought he should intervene "Silence. We'll drive on the left side because that's what we have been doing since we built the first road and it is what we will continue doing. Now is there something important to discuss?"

Suddenly, the doors burst open and Charles Kensington barged in throwing the golden nugget on the table. It slid across the town councilers and stopped right in front of the governor. Charles was too tired to speak.

"You've found gold?" Governor George asked.

"Yes. There's gold in Western Australia. We must find the rest!" replied Charles.

"Governor George walked over to a glass cabinet that was holding a pickaxe that had "In case of Goldrush break glass" written on it. He broke the glass and grabbed the pickaxe. The councilers all followed him out of the hall and they rushed down the street. One of them yelled "Goldrush!" and then hundreds of people were running after them, rushing to get to the gold. That's why it's called a goldrush

All the people ran to the area the gold was found. Only a few Eucalypts grow here, but Robert still managed to trip over one .

So the people cam and squatted in this area. The goldrush encouraged migration into Australia from all over the world but mainly Britain and Ireland. The mining areas had been divided into "claims" which people could buy in order to dig for gold. 

With all the migration into the gold area, the population ballooned. After a few years gold left to find ran low and it became to difficult, the quitters then abandoned the gold sites and moved to settlements. Pittsburgh's population continued to rise as a result of high natural growth and increased migration. By 1860, the population of Pittsburgh was 90,000.

Nice work... I have a suggestion though. You see, if you want to take pictures of single buildings, I suggest that you don't fully zoom at it because it gets a little blurry and people who might have eye problems might not see it. Once again, good work
