Parkland skyline is dominated by residential towers, and that includes its tallest....

Dont worry, it is still realistic... check out austin to see where i got inspiration for my skyline...

i recieved a comment in the CJ section that i felt was very relevant and give a little insight into how i go about working on Parkland.... here is the question, followed by my response...

    comment:

i have been looking at your
    CJ
and i do not get a thing.

Why did you lay out transportations before the growth of the city? You have immediately created some big road ring around the city, but i thought that comes when a city really needs. If i am not mistaking you have done some jump in the future of 20 years and then missed some part of the natural growth. So is this natural growth or not? Regards.

    response:

but im going in a certain direction with my
    cj
, and higher will come later. it is natural-esque growth. it is modeled after many many real world american cities and has the natural growth look. it is a recreation, not of one city, but american cities. i have a vision of what i want my "end product" to look like, and i lay out roads first. then i create the infill as i have imagined it. once i get it all there, i then treat it like a real city and grow it out from there.

I had to stop by to take a look at this and tell you I am really impressed. Love the curving avenue very realistic n the GLR is fantastic. That picture was amazing I had fun looking though all the details. I also like the single track railroad you used even more to add to realism! Curious to see what it looks like south of that especially with 4 highways leading south!! Can't wait to see some more fantastic work keep it up my friend I will be back in here!

oh no no... thats west, the screen is turned... lol... and there is only one "highway" leading that direction. i needed an elevated bridge that looked more realistic for the avenues that crossed the river.. i never thought to think people might think those were all highways going across the river

Sorry it has been so long since the last update. I will have one soon.

It has been quite the hectic time here where i live in Nashville. We lost our house and one of our cars. We lost almost everything in the house and are displaced for a short few months while we try and build back again.

Here are some pics to show you whats going on...

These are after the waters started going back down and they let some people back in my neighborhood.... I waded about half a mile down the street in chest deep water. the water got about 4 feet into the house and the house already sits up 3 feet anyways because of flood plain laws in TN

Man thats heavy... Hope the waters clear out soon and you can start rebuilding as soon as possible. I got some family down there going to Meharry, she said the flooding wasnt too bad, but then again theres a whole city beyond that campus that you dont get to see...

Just noticed your CJ, and that downtown pic was one of the most realistic I've seen in a long time. Never understood how to tie in surface parking to CBD's like that and get the same results in my own regions. I guess living in the big apple has clouded my vision and I just dont know how to create cities like the ones that exist in the other 99% of the U.S. 2.gif

Well Im off to catch up on the rest of your earlier posts, good luck man, hope everything dries out quickly!

thank you all for your thoughts! they are very much appreciated! I finally have internet back, and somewhat of a makeshift office set up, so, although im not promising an update soon, with all thats going on, i am trying to find time to work on the city, so i can work towards that new update, whenever it may be 4.gif
