Hey all,

Today I bought Simcity4 Deluxe Edition (original game, no copy), and tried to registrer it on the official Simcity website, but it gives an red error:

Your serial number, *****************************************, for SimCity 4 Deluxe, is either registered already or is not valid.

Does anyone know what to do? I'm not happy with this situation.

Thanks 19.gif

to my experience, any game's serial can be counterfeit or hijacked with a key generator. since this game is ancient, a key generator may have already have stolen this reg number. I suggest contacting EA. hope this helps. EA has a bad customer support policy just to warn you.

Aaaah, I don't want to contact EA for this. They say that I need to send the game to them, that costs more than the game itself. I'm sad about this. Won't buy any old EA game anymore...

Don't believe them! Your game is likely NOT registered yet - I had the same problem when I registered. My problem turned out to be the wrong game name in the registration form - try your game number on one or more of the name options in the registration form. Turned out my game is SimCity 4 Deluxe, not SimCity4RushHour, like I thought. I fought with the people at EA for a month before solving my problem. Don't give up, the people at customer service will eventually coach you through.

I wouldn't even bother with that. It's nothing but a headache. Simtropolis.com seems to be the choice when looking for a file. Cus in my opinion, EA abondoned SimCity4.

Thanks for helping people. I know EA, they are sometimes lazy. I'm an owner of a fansite of Sims, and met EA-people many times.

    Edit: doesn't work...

Honestly I would not even bother trying to register it. You can get the files EA has on their sight, on simtropolis. I cannot believe that they would request that you send them the game, to verify that you are not attempting to register a pirated copy. Seriously the game is eight years old. Not to many games have that shelf life, they should be excited that you actually bought a copy of it. Good Luck :/

I went back to the store and they gave me a new game of Simcity4 Deluxe Edition to try the serial number. Again no results. I'm so sad about this. I will try a key-gen now.

    Thanks for helping people!

No, you can't get those files on Simtropolis - all those links lead to the official site and you must be logged in and registered to download. Did you try entering the number without dashes?

All I can say is, try again. Even to the point of creating a new user account at maxis or EA.

"Challenge everything" Yeah! Challenge my patience!

Are these games used?  If so someone else has registered them, and you won't be able to.

I suggest getting the box set.

    It's Vista Compatible

AND.. has the lighting and update stuff SimCity.com originally offered. Although you re not gonna get the buildings that are posted there. But who cares really... There are so much more infinitely better stuff here on simtropolis.com than what that site has.

I have been playing the game for 5 years....NEVER had regisered there.

I think you'd be better off getting the BOX set which is a valid seriel number if you are really interested. But get ready for a huge pile of red tape with EA getting registered.

    Good luck to ya.

I bought SC4 Deluxe years ago, played it a bit then put it aside. Now that I've recently begun playing it, I can't get all the EA files. EA tells me to "register the game" but when I do, it tells me it's already registered. I've been going in circles with this problem - to the point I've given up.

You can find most of the files you'll ever need in another thread (up above) on this site. Forget EA.

Unfortunately one file you do need is the official patch, which is (far as I know) only available through EA's site, it doesn't appear to be available via that pinned topic. Everything else is, including official landmarks, the Lot Editor and BAT, the buildingprop_volx.dat files, and the BAT update for nightlighting. If that is already included in the new "box" as Vincent says, that may indeed be your best bet (some of the landmarks are good, you can get those via the pinned topic; the other "buildings" he speaks of, you can live without). But look around - you might find The Box even cheaper than SC4 Deluxe!! No joke - I was in Target just a couple days ago... SC4 Deluxe: $19.99 - same price it's been for the past couple years. The SimCity Box: $16.99. It was $29.99 shortly after it came out. You probably can't get a refund now, but maybe your store might be so kind as to substitute that... certainly worth a try.

I have a same problem. I'm from Hungary, and I tried register product AFTER I went home from shop. And ea.com tells me my game is already registered. I'm a little confused, because I don't know, where can I mail with EA. If I know well, no EA office in Hungary.
