cheat code lists , the (hopefully) officiall cheating thread

this is an open discussion , enjoy.

heres list of the cheat codes I know:

please note that cougar2004 made a thread that included a link(found in the cheat code section)to a file that added several cheat codes(including moolah)just install it in your program files plugin folder.

press ctrl+x to enter a cheat code , if it dissapearrs when you press enter , you typed it correctly , if not - you mistyped it.

some cheat codes are toggles - meaning it ends as soon as you retype it - other you restart the game to reset.

weaknesspays               gives you a thousand dollars

you don't deserve it        unlocks all reward buildings

recorder                                   starts the vidio recorder (I have no Idea how to use this - but feel free to ask , it is an open discussion )

stopwatch                                 toggles the 24 hour clock

whatimeizit <hh:mm>             sets the time of the 24 hour clock (military time)

tastyzots                                     turns off  zots(usefull for screenshots you intend to show)

whererufrom <name>             change city name

hellomynameis <name>        change mayor name

sizeof <0-100>            set zoom level

fightthepower               no longer a power requirment

Howdryiam                   stops the water requirments

zoneria                           you cant see empty zones

gol                                   starts the game of life!!! hahahahaha , try clicking the little green squares!

dollyllama                      angry with your advisors? turn them into llamas - that will show them

fps                                   display frame rate

terrainquery                   Display terrain values when query button is on

God mode                     reactivate god mode

drawpaths                     draws the paths that cars can take in your city.

new*** :

"plopalllots"                   plops just about every building possible in your city(warning , it has been poorly tested , do this at your own risk as a crash is very possible)[sometimes , you can build roads strait through the buildings that the cheat plops!!! and there still u-drive-it compatible!I have no idea what happens when there isn't enough space to put all the lots , also , sometimes it doesnt plop all the possible lots - use this cheat at your own risk , also , nobody knows exactly what this cheat is supposed to do - I am telling you what I saw. ]

plopallbuildings             does something similar to plopalllots , this is also poorly tested.

this is one that needs testing:

love money     :             gives unlimited cash (not sure how that works)please test.

I hear that if you hold the curser over a reward building write down the requirments , build it , then earn it , your city planner will reward it again!!! double rewards!!!

please note that some of them didnt seem to work right - if you know any more please post them - this is the "cheating thread" PLEASE POST!!!

if you did anything weird - you can post them too.

I tested the unlimited cash cheat - it did nothing , maybe sombody will be lucky enough to get it to work.

also , heres a max money mod you can use to cheat:

*** if you let the buildings grow with normal road options , then after the buildings have grown up replace the roads with rhws , then the buildings wont zot.

In other words - replace roads with rhws in developed areas to avoid the ncz(no car zot)

private schools are not as affective as public ones , but they dont have any monthly cost.

*** you can demolish the center of nam roundabouts and put something else in them.

although power plants and water towers/pumps will generate zots when not next to a road - just ignore that , they will still function so you can place them way out far freely , they also make good "median fillers" for the rhw.

ill try to add to this post here and there.

it will be nice when I figure out how to use the love money cheat , and the god mode cheat.

No. I can tell you that of all the cheats.... lovemoney is the only one I have never gotten to work....

However some others have sworn by it. And Ive seen it listed on other simcity 4 sites.

so im not surprised that blakesterville listed it above.

But you can use:
moolah <amount> - Changes your city bank account to the exact amount you put choose.

Hmmm... I wonder if lovemoney needs an argument like moolah to make it work... I'll try some more testing on it today.  There are tons of new Cheats available.... we just don't know what they all do yet... So if you want to try them, or reply to tell the world that you solved one of them.... scroll about 2/3 the way down in the first post of this thread.

You enter like "moolah 800000" Without the quotes.

And that will set your money to 800000 not add 800000 to your current amount.

In regards to the name change of your City....

DO NOT - I repeat DO NOT change it to an all UPPER-case name. I gurantee you that your city will delete itself. Oh, have I learned that one the hard way.

I could just be unusually lucky - but -

I have yet to see the game, independantly, actually delete a city;

How-some-ever I have seen a fair share of cities bounced into the "downloads" folder.

A little trick: If you want give a Mayor or City name what is 2 or more word, put it to double quotes.

So:

As you told us "DON'T" and "go ahead and try", I couldn't hold off of actually trying it myself .

OK, I started a new city with the name 'lowercase', saved it and went to region view.

Then I loaded again, changed the name to 'UPPERCASE' (without quotes) and saved again.

Quit and reloaded again. Works like a charm! In other words, I couldn't reproduce this 'bug'.

Additionally, I now have two new folders in my sc4 album: one for each name of this particular city. And each one has one screenshot in it. Also, the city hasn't been moved to the downloads folder.

Here are the two city names:

This was no blank city. I started the Mayor mode and built some houses and industries (the small dot in the minimap).

Anyway, I gave it another go with one of the tutorials (free mode). The procedure and outcome of this test has been exactly the same as in my previous experiment above (no corruption, no vanishing city, new name working, additional album folder created by game, etc...)

Based on my own experiences and the fact that I never head of a similar problem before, I dare to predicate that your case might have been just an unlucky coincidence. Have you been able to reproduce this phenomenon in another test (backup your region folder first ), or has this been a one-time occurrence?

Now I really wanted to know it. I renamed the city again, this time to "** 1337 |\|@/\/\3 **". Not even this one could delete my city. Of course, this name as it's printed here cannot exist as file name, so the game automatically renamed my city file (and the album folder) to the valid name  "City - 1337 @3 .sc4". Again, no problems otherwise.

P.S.: I normally hate Leetspeak ! (But for testing purposes ... )

This thread is very different. And I have some data I would like to add here actually to this very topic!

Fast Cash

press [Ctrl] + X to display the console window. Type "weaknesspays", but do not press [Enter]. Highlight the word using the mouse, then press [Ctrl] + C to copy the text. Press [Enter], then press [Ctrl] + X to open the console window again. Hold [Ctrl] and press V to paste the text, then press [Enter], without releasing [Ctrl]. Keep pressing V then [Enter] while holding [Ctrl] while the console window is still open to amass as much money as desired.

A faster, Easier way.

to get money faster, type in "weaknesspays" and before you press enter, push and hold the shift key. this will keep the cheat box open. all you have to do after that is press up and the previouse cheat will pop back up! then all you have to do is repeat to fulfill your money need's!

The Sims

Put at least 1 Sim in your city. Then you will get promptings to drive one of the 2 missions it gives. They are cake walk missions and give you $20,000 or a huge Mayor Rating Increase.

Double rewards

Use the unlock all rewards code, and write down requirements for reward (hold the pointer over the picture.) Place that reward. Now perform the requirements for it. Neil Fairbanks will ask your permission to build the reward a second time in your city.

Neverending resources/garbage disposal

By giving you the ability to exchange resources between your cities, the game opens itself up for all kinds of abuse.

The big scam is that time only passes if you actually load a city. If you fill a city with nothing but power plants, water pumps, and landfill (and the appropriate connections) and then never open it up again, you can send in garbage and take out water and power without ever having to worry about paying upkeep or running out of landfill space. Not what the developers intended, but certainly a worthy trick.

Save money on building roads

Build two roads side by side. Then connect each segment with streets. You should have smoother traffic and the cost will be significantly less.

Land Value

Land value is enhanced by the proximity to water and high ground (elevation-wise). This is your opportunity to make some places that will be higher in land value, and make your place popular among your citizens.

Those are just a few I had noted down and had handy that I had learned over the last year.  Enjoy~!

I just tested the plopalllots cheat on my old computer , it literally ploped all lots everywhere in the city!!! it was very funny , but it kinda ruined the test city I was using to test it.

also , you can moolah negitive amounts of money!!! it was very funny when I typed "moolah -100"and I actually had $-100 , also , if you type "moolah lovemoney" it just set the city treasury to $0 , nothing special there.

I f your looking for the cheats , look in the link that cougar2004 put nere the top of this thread , look in the cheats section , and cougar2004 put a link to an extra cheat dll file , just put in in your program files plugin folder(it didnt work in my "my documents" folder)

By the way, using the video recorder is very simple - it's what I used to film some stuff in my CJ.

What you should do, is set the number of seconds to a high number and the prames per second to 20, in the recorder window, then click start. It might lag a little, but it's ok. DO what youre doing.

Once youre done, click stop, and go to your Sim City 4 folder in Documents, then go to Recorded Animations.

You'll see that each frame has been recorded into a separate JPEG file - you can choose format in the recorder window.

Now this is where you might freak out. Don't
If you have a software like GIF Animator from ULEAD or a movie making software, the deal is that you have to put all those frames in, shorten them so there are 20 frames per second, put them together and press play!

Everyone who looks at this forum. Instead of using "weaknesspays" and entering it a million times, go to this link....

This uses the program called Cheat Engine and you can put in more money into your city than "weaknesspays"

P.S. While you're at the video on Youtube, open the more info button...It will tell you the website where to download Cheat Engine.

P.P.S. The best part is that Cheat Engine is free of charge!!!!

It stands for Game of Life (gol).

Cheat Code

gol - Begins the Game Of Life. It shows a random game of life algorhythm on your city's map.  Try clicking around on the green objects that cover your city map. To exit this, press ESC key.

I think I will post any new information down here because the initial post is becoming HUGE! the u-drive-it cheat is pretty much useless - but it allows you to click a car on the screen and take a free drive in it.

hidepaths hides the paths that drawpaths draws.

two one way roads side by  side in the opposite also have a higher capacity than an avenue! a tip worth remebering. (it does the same thing an avenue)
