While browsing around some of the script files I found this list of ordinances, with several that I've never seen in the game.  Anyone know of anyway to get these to show up in the game?  I always liked the parking find ordinance.

All of thoose are in the game alredy you just have to know where to get them. To get them:

1Go to Mayor Mode and click the finance icon. (S loookig thing on bottom panel.)  The amount of money your city is spending and erning will be displayed along with a arrow at the top right corner.

2.Click that arrow to expand the panel, and you should see City Ordinances in the upper Green Section .

3.Click that then you will see the ordinaces

I have only 20 ordinances which I actually have been working on listing into a complete list this morning. ( will post soon ) but the list above is much larger! Are you sure there some are not unused?

Yeah, after reading the list, I matched up all 20 of the ones in the Game Ordinances panel, and there are tons more listed by bklj2007 in the original post. 

IS there any way to get the game UI (Ordinances Panel) to actually list these additional Ordinances for use??  Perhaps MAXIS/EA did not finish writing some of them, or left them out by mistake.  Our modders here could perhaps fix that, providing them with realistic values.

Hey you know what?  These all sound relatively familiar.  I bet you found a list from SimCity 3000 Unlimited.  I think these all were in that one, and SC4 is just a stripped down subset of them.  Just a thought.  Anyone know?

Please be aware that all versions of Sim City 4 do not show you the 

- Junior Sports Program Ordinance until you have placed at least one Park structure in your city.

- Landfill Gas Recovery Ordinance until you have placed both a Landfill and a Gas Power Plant IN your city.

- Neighboorhood Watch Ordinance until you have placed at least one police structure in your city.

- Trash Presort Requirement Ordinance until you have placed a Recycling Center in your city.

(I've been studying Ordinances for a few days since being inspired by this thread: The Worst Ordinances ever (Poll Included) and I'll be posting some collectively interesting information I've learned about them soon.)

Yeah, those sure look like SC3000 ordinances. They probably just copied the code, and forgot to remove some of it when they implemented the SC4 code.

If they just copied SC3 code into SC4... i wonder if its possible to use it for more (new) ordinances?  I bet if this were possible, our massive amount of GURUs on Simtropolis would have found a way to do it by now.  So I expect not.

Considering that the original poster mentioned that he has always liked the Parking Fine ordinance and there is no such thing in Sim City 4... im guessing he is perhaps only playing SC3KU. (I actually dont remember if modding was even available back then.)

I'm not sure if we can have those Ordinances or not.  We will have to let some modders weigh in on that.  The Experts would know better.  But I sure hope so!  

In the meantime, since you can't have these extra ones... why not use the ones we have available?  Here is a list!

That one was only used waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in late 2000 when they started work, but pulled in Feburary 2001.

Hey barryborder22 where did you find those 2? They weren't in the original list. Guess I'll have to update the master list on Ordinances (Complete List) thread now... I'm hoping to get a modder or a few together with me to recreate all the missing ones, and even put them back if they can be unique, helpful, and realistic... or perhaps create completely NEW and useful, unique, and interesting ones.

By the way, do you think Centerline Maintenance refers to the paint on the city roads?

I fully understood the purpose of every other unused ordinance, but the Municipal Services one...im not real clear on yet. Does that mean the we get better prices? or does it mean we get more bang for our buck in those services? Im just not sure what that would mean. I'll have to research Municipal ownership of local services i guess.

The text is still stored in the ltext files and the advisor files are still there in the lua script files, but many of them are disabled because the ordinances were never implemented.  There's probably more left as those were just the first ones i happened upon.  Here's a message left in the game that refers to the electronics job fair

Mayor, I fear that we're going to become some backward burg if we don't enhance #city#'s appeal to high-tech industry. We need to sharpen our educational system, including higher education, to attract the big brains. Perhaps also up the ante a bit with a high-tech ordinance.

I also noticed the transportation advisor's name was Glint Wheels, until they thought was too weird and changed it to Jamil Herd. Has anyone noticed this?
