Help: I'm getting boxes instead of graphics

Background:

I'm new at the whole 'modding' thing, but have played Sim City 4 for a while.  I recently joined here and downloaded the NAM.  Everything was fine.

Then I downloaded a highly rated mod that gave bus stops which you could put over top of the road sections (I forget the name).  It looked like it would work fine, but then after (and only after) placing one such bus stop, the icon for it turned into a large box, not a bus stop.

Initial Debugging:

When I tried to diagnose the issue I discovered that I had installed the game in a different directory then the default, so I installed the mod in the correct directory to see if that would fix things.  It didn't.

Please Help:

Has anyone heard of this before?  Am I just making a stupid-newbie mistake somehow?  Did I miss something in the documentation?  (I can't seem to locate the readme file.)

I searched and found the name of the mod I installed: RTMTV3. I also noticed that it mentions to install one of the two batches of props, but I installed both. Could that be what's causing this?

The only two reason i can think of are that you install the wrong depedencies or you install the depedencies in the wrong folder..most will install automatically in C://MyDocument/SimCity4/Plugins

Be sure to read the readme.txt before installing because most new people don't

when u have boxes its because you're missing dependencies. if the busstops are there, you're in the basically correct directory.. find what dependency you are missing, and put it in.. the boxes will go away..

While I did read through the documentation, I seem to have missed the fact that one of the set of props has a dependency (but the other one doesn't). I will install that and see what happens.

See what i have told you. Read the Readme file before installing..BTW some of the links provide by some readme file for the dependencies are not working so beware of that..if it happens just dearch it of the STEX and other Simcity community site

Okay, so I uninstalled everything and then installed just the one that had no dependencies. I opened my saved game and YAY there were the bus stops. Unfortunately there were no roads under the stops themselves so I tried to demolish and replace them thinking that this might work. Except, now all items from this mod are removed completely from my menu.

So I figure, okay, mine as well install the one with dependencies. So I installed that one, found the dependency and installed it, then saw that the dependency had four dependencies of its own.

Fair enough, I clicked the links in the read me only to see that they don't work (I was warned that might happen) so I did a search for the first one and it resulted in hundreds of results.

So now it's a matter of wading through all these to find the right one.

And that's just for the first. I hope these dependencies don't have dependencies of their own.

    *sigh*

Well, I can't see the first two anywhere on the site yet, but I found the third with the following message:

"This file has been locked for Administrative purposes."

When you see this message, does it mean that this is permanent, or temporary? Or is there any way to know?

    This is not my day.

Go over to SC4Devotion and look on their "Dependency List" .. it is in effect a "cross-link" to all uploaded dependencies.. If you look up each dependency in that file (linked on tthe lower left corner of the site as I recall) you will find what new consolidated file the dependencies are in.. download each of those (if there are more than one) and it should fix you up.. good luck

Thanks SC4Boy.  So I have all the dependencies installed now.

I still can't see the road and none of the great bus stops are appearing in my list of options.

I'm attaching a screen shot of what I'm seeing now.  You can see two bus stops with no road underneath them, the little "construction lot" that you need to build first, and the list of my transit options (some of the other bus stops are showing up from other dependencies, just not the ones I'm looking for).

If anyone is able to help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Tell me whats the name of the bus stop...i can't remeber what it is called even though i have it.
Just tell me the name of the thing you downloaded and ill do all the searching of dependencies for you

If the instructions said to install one of the two, but you installed both, you must know something the author didn't know.. I'd say either he meant what he said, OR there is some lot problem.. you might PM the designer if you believe you are right.

No, I've unistalled both packs and then installed one and tried it, uninstalled it and installed the other and tried it. Same thing with both, no roads and no more options to use any of the bus stops.

The name is RTMTV3 (Stands for Road Top Mass Transit Version 3), but I have all the dependencies (and their dependencies too) so I really don't think that's it.

I think I just might have to give up on this mod and find another one.

It seems I've seen a thread on RTMTV3 mentioned .. perhaps over on SC4D? you might consider doing a search on that in the forums over there just to see if there is info.. I don't like RTMT so I don't use any of them.. I liked em at first, but rapidly became disenchanted with it. (there have been many versions)

Disenchanted? Really? Why? I can't imagine bus stops that don't take up any space being bad in any way.

I will do a search tomorrow for all this.

Yeah, I read that in one of the many read me files. I didn't, however, take it to heart. Argh. (Let me take this opportunity to stress the importance of saving your city regularly.)

Well, live and learn. At least I saved it shortly after starting the city. I guess this is one mod I will be living without for now.
