Connecting Elevated Rail Station

Hello everyone.

I'm a new member in this forum and also new in SC4. I hope someone could help me solving this problem.

I have 2 elevated rail stations (see picture, which is taken from a city that I got from the net, which I modify slightly to contrast the two stations type). The upper station can be connected to elevated rails; while the lower one cannot be connected.

From my experiments with both stations, I found out that elevated rail stations that can be connected to elevated rails are those which have their own foundation (i.e the upper station having grey pavement-like structure as its foundation). When I hover the query tool above upper station's foundation, it says "Elevated Rails"; but when I do it on another which cannot be connected to elevated rail, it says "City-owned land".

My problem is whenever I click elevated rail station from the menu, I always get similar type with the lower station in above picture; resulting in I cannot join it to elevated rail.

Could anyone suggest me how to get elevated rail station like the upper station in the picture?

P.S: I use SC4 Deluxe version; and the problem is still there whether I install Network Add-On Mod or not. Currently I don't use any other mod.

Thank's very much.

Hello tjkn24,

Two thoughts - you say that you found the working station in a downloaded saved city - could be a plugin that uses a model similar to the station that appears not to work; should this prove to be the case - good luck on finding the plugin.

Have you tried to see if the station that won't accept elevated rail connections might accept monorail connections? Without being able to get in and see the actual transit enabling code on the lot in question - it is hard to say exactly what the problem might be. Should this be a custom lot - and you know it is - and you know which one it is - then it might be possible to determine just what the actual problem is.

    Thank you for your answer NetPCDoc.

    Could you tell me about the original el-rail station in your copy of SC4? Does it have pavement-like structure as its foundation (like the upper station in my picture)? Or like the lower station, of which you still can see land's grid in its base?

    I need to know this to find out whether the problem lies in "bad install" of my SC4 copy.

    Thank's.

    Hello tjkn24,

    My El-Rail Station - Original SimCity 4 + Rush Hour (no NAM) - has a white-tile-texture at ground level (like the upper station in your picture).

    If you have not already done so you might check (or maybe even double-check) your plugin folders for a plugin that might be over-riding the original El-Rail Station?

    Two other things to check on:

    1) have you installed EA's latest patch? (might fix the connection problem.)

    2) after doing the above - check the graphics settings? in particular "City Details"? (might fix any missing texture problems - such as paving under station.)

    Perhaps the 'street' in front of the one station has something to do with it? It's kinda weird intersection there.

    Could also be a slope issue.. have you tried building that layout on absolutely flat terrain?

    ive seen a situation maybe like this before. i fixed it by placing single tile streets starting near the avenue/road all the way along where i want my station and the tracks connecting it. elevated rail and monorail stations are kinda picky about the slope around them. this will flatten the area allowing for a clean hookup. im sure thatll fix it, i just used that methode last night to install this set up

    T = track

    S = station

    A = avenue

    P = pedistrian tile street

    R = road

    My problem is fixed now.

    I reinstall SC4, and the problem (not only with el-rail stations, but also others like monorail stations) disappears. I think it's caused by conflicting mods. Later I'll try to patch and reinstall NAM; hopefully it's still all right.

    Thank's everyone!
