Rush Hour crashing on new iMac...

My old PB G4 died and I just bought a new Intel iMac and moved over all of my Sim City 4 files to the new computer. I started playing and as I build the city a few mins in, the game crashes back to the desktop. I tried re-installing the game (including the universal update) and I am still having the same problem. I am wondering if it could be the many STEX plugins i moved over to the new machine? Any other ideas?

The crash seems to happen randomly. I could be adding a road or zoning or scrolling across the screen and it locks up and crashes. Sometimes the cirt will run for ten tweenty mins before a crash and other times it dies 1 min into the game. There isn't a specific function i can point towards. I would love to avoid getting rid of the plugins as they are all part of a city that i have been working on for very long time, but I don't see any other options.

Are intel mac users having much luck with Rush Hour in the first place?

Thanks for any insight into this. Sim City is really the only game I play.

Do you have the NAM? or any other transit enabled lots.

There is a problem when hovering a transit enabled lot over another one. It causes a crash to desktop. (By hovering I mean when you have selected it out of the menu, but not yet placed it)

Do you think this may be the problem?

Try reinstalling without reinstalling the universal patch. I had pretty much the same problem after installing the universal patch (I'm on an early Intel iMac), eventually reinstalled without the patch, and it works better.

That's odd, it was working great on my new imac when I last tried it. Do you have any plugins?

I had a thread with an issue like this. The game ran fine until I placed a BAT. In that case it was McDonalds. If it was already in the city I dont think it crashed until scrolling brought it on screen. Either way, I got the game running REALLY smooth without the universal update. With the update I had several issues. The video card seems to be the issue of most problems more than the fact it is or is not an Intel iMac. As suggested try it without the update or without plugins or any combination of that.

Since SC4 RH is the only game I play, and apparently this applies to many other forum
members, the choice of my next PC will depend on the fact whether of not SC4 will
work well on a Mac, too.

I want to buy the latest iMac, but if SC4 does not run or runs badly, I will have no choice but
    to buy another Microsoft PC.

If I remember correctly, the latest iMac has a dual core processor.
As far as Mirosoft PC's are concerned, I know that turning off one of the processors, will make
the game run far more stable .

If the same trick (switching off one of two processors) will work on a Mac as well, it may
make the game run much better. Provided the software on a Mac allows us access to
    switch one processor off.

Since I don't have a Mac, would somebody out there be so kind to look into this ?

    Cheers,

    Erik.
