Finaly here is a decent sized update. I have been veary buisy with school and havent gotten Tons done. Stage 1 of the expansion is now comepleted in Catilina, so that is what this update will focus on.

    /idealbb/files/p142.jpg

Here is one of the reasons for the expansion. The suberbs of Verona have been getting veary croweded lately, as is illistrated in the rowhouses.

    /idealbb/files/p237.jpg

Here is one of the many Rec. parks in Verona, this particular one is called Opolatchee Center of Recreation.

    /idealbb/files/p327.jpg

This station is were the yellow EL Rail line ends and the Golden rail line begins. This railway will streach the length of the Verona Peninsula, connecting downtown with the suberbs and the cities outside the region.

    /idealbb/files/p417.jpg

Catilina has also grown a city center, which by the time the expansion is completed, should be the 3rd largest city center in Gotland. The only two larger would be Verona and Sagronda Bend.

    /idealbb/files/p516.jpg

Seen in this pic is part of the Gold line rail track and a hitech industrial district (ok, the industry here is plopped, but so what).

    /idealbb/files/p610.jpg

Finaly, a pic to show you were every thing is. Everything above can be located in this picture. Take note that the old sector of Catilina is not shown in this picture.

Hope you liked reading this update as much as I liked makeing it!<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif>

Well, about all the pines, It is really just something that I prefer because of were I am. I live in Florida, and if you didn't know about 90% of the trees in Florida are pines. Thats just about all we have! I have lived in FL for all my life, so I naturally want a lot of pines in my cities. Its kinda odd since I hate pines in the real world, but get boared with a city if it has no pines. <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/22.gif>

Come to think of it, how did you manage to get your entire region covered in pine trees? Did you plant them all by hand or something? Whenever I plant trees at sea level, they always come out to be oaks and maples. Anyhow, love the region. Looks absolutely incredible.

It is a modd. To find it, do a search for god mode tree modd and you should find it. There are several varients ie: a modd that will fource the game to make only Oaks and maples, only pines, or only cacti (sp?). It is made by Teriusu, who has made any other good modds like the snow capped mountain modd, the snow modd, and the mayor mode tree modd.

    Hope that helps!

I was also thinking, Should I realy leave the area to the right a National Forest? What do you think?

start showing more close ups 1.gif for every region shot that you have you should put in like 3-4 closeups with every region shot...because we can all see how the region is spreading out but i wanna see what kinda cool ideas you are comming up with and youre developments and how youre blending commercial and residential areas together.

Catilina is a very nice city, but the road layout that you've chosen, although non-grid, is somewhat artificial. Are there traffic jams?. Try to replace some of the roads by streets, and it will look better.
The region looks good. However, the highways aren't straight enough, and I don't think that there are many cars on them. It's too late to rebuild them.
    I like the airport.
    Good job!

Thanx for the suggestions Simmax! The reason I use all roads is that streets can't go diagonal (who ever heard of suberbs with no diagonal roads!?) I also like roads because there color is a bit more realistic for suberbs. Only well worn roads ie main roads are the gray of streets, and suberban roads tend to be a bit darker. If only I could get rid of the median, and replace the traffic lights with stop signs it would be perfect.

Also, I to am bugged by how the roads came out in Catilina, but I just can't bring myself to start over. I don't have any traffic jams ANYWERE, and my highways are well used. This might be because I use DMs better pathfinding modd, but I don't know. I do like my highway layout though, in real life very few highways are straight. I wanted to give the impresion that the highways were built after the suberbs, and were fourced to wind there way through them.

Again THANKS for the comment and suggestion. It helps me much more than the simple your city is great comments (though I like those too <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/2.gif>)

very cool city, i like cities that aren't all streets. when i picture the road types in SimCity, i see a street as one of those tiny almost-two-lane roads that are all over the northeast - the ones from before cars.

when i think of roads, i think of the nice wide, 2 lane roads we have everywhere here in california - short of some really old roads and rural areas, which is where i save streets for.

i don't know how florida's built (i've never quite made it in there), but i think that in an urbanized area, mostly roads is definitely the right way to do things. save the streets for rural areas.

again though, great job, and i like the abundance of roads. it looks good. i'd love to see more close-ups too.

I just finished working on Elba and got a few close ups <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/2.gif>

    /idealbb/files/p145.jpg

Here is a pic of the newest ultra modern building in Elba. While it looks like 2 buildings, there is a massive underground mall connecting the two.

    /idealbb/files/p238.jpg

Elbas old Harbor has been re built, and elba is once again the premire port city of the region. Here we can see the comercial docks.

    /idealbb/files/p328.jpg

A replica of the Statue Of Liberty stands watch over the harbor, It is named The Lady Of Freedom.

    /idealbb/files/p418.jpg

A pic of the main residential section and harbor.

    /idealbb/files/p517.jpg

And, the Industrial Port, just downstream of Lady Freedom.

Thats all for now! Keep the comments comming!!!<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif>

I am not quite sure what you are asking, but I will try to answer as many questions as I can.

I do use modds, the super demand modd, DM's traffic fix, some terrain modds, the plop modd (though I only used it to make that hitec area and 3 buildings in downtown), and I think thats it. I got a lot of my inspiration from were I live and Joerg. I have no traffic.

    anything else I missed?

I think the inverted colors look great to. As for the rail, No it won't cross as a bridge, and it was origionally designed to be a scenic train rout through the National Forest. Thinking about it now though, I might build a tunnel crross the straight to connect the future farmland there with the peninsula.<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/1.gif> I definitly wont make a bridge though.
