HOLY CRAP! I got the world's best idea!

Before I tell you my idea, I would like to apologize for supporting a game you literally wanted to flame and burn. I realised that I got tired of SCS as same fast as SC4 (A few months). Although I will not uninstall Societies, if I want to play it sometime. I think the reason why I got bored of both games, was simply because I was to shy to make an action that would take the city forward. Simply afraid of that something I didn't want to happen actually will. I give you the reasons. In SC4; money, in SCS; someone would get angry. I can say it with big letters:
I'M A COWARD.
So, now to my idea:
What about that before you play for the first time, you simply costumize all the rules and gameplay? And you won't need any programming skills at all (Nothing is needed to be downloaded either). You can add an historical aspect in your game, or you can choose if buildings can abondoned or not. You can design as many buildings you want to and give them each a special function. You can add any system you want, like social values, different classes, tech trees (See Civilization) etc. So basically, you're not just creating a city, but the game itself. But there are a few basics in the game:

-No grid, in difference to the previous games.
-To avoid lagging, the game is always in a 2D á la SC4, but if you're a real hacker, you can insert 3D into the game.
-You can upload not just your cities, but also the script for your costumized game.
-You can also make online competitions on your game, so you can compete against other players on who can reach 'Goal X' first.
-There are two editions, one with English as default language. The other edition are for those who doesn't understand English. So their name is 'English' respectively '[Local language] Editoin'. And there is also an online exchange/community for each language, and you can also translate the text in a created game you want the world/your locals to expeience.
-You're able to pick any place on your planet where your city shall be, and yes, there will be regions.

On this way, almost everybody can get their game as they want it and there is no risk that we will wind up in this situation ever again (Unless there is some graphical or basic issues).

Any questions? Appointments?

These ideas are either not new or have already been implemented by other projects.

No grid, in difference to the previous gamesquote>

Say, wasn't that already implemented in SC4? I believe the G key could turn the grid on/off.

To avoid lagging, the game is always in a 2D á la SC4quote>

LinCity classic has already done this.

,but if you're a real hacker, you can insert 3D into the game.quote>

LinCity-NG has already done this. It's also compatible with classic maps.

You can upload not just your cities, but also the script for your customized game.quote>

Any version of SimCity older than SC4 (SC3K and older) already implemented custom scenarios and city uploads.

You can also make online competitions on your game, so you can compete against other players on who can reach 'Goal X' first.quote>

Err... okay. If you feel comfortable buying dedicated servers for people to play on. And what goals are there to reach other than highest population? 22.gif

Multilingual support... implemented by too many games to count. SimCity, City Life, I think, Cities XL should have Multilingual support, Lincity, various other projects.

You're able to pick any place on your planet where your city shall be, and yes, there will be regions.quote>

Cities XL has already done this.

Sure, you could add all those features for people who don't want to buy a copy of City Life, or Cities XL, or SimCity. But how will you find time, resources, and money to develop it? Even if it is an open-source project, you'll need money to buy servers and development tools. There are other community-driven projects that exist, like Simtropolis 1000 and Simtropolis: The Game. I  wouldn't call it "the best idea ever," though.

Wouldn't you get bored of the open-source game just as quickly?

When I said own games, I didn't mean scenarios, but you can select your own entire systems and rules, which means, RCI or Social System; Happiness or Mayor Grade; Turn-based or Real-time-based? etc.

Plus, when I said grid removal, I didn't meant that it would be invisible, like in SC4, but that that the lots wasn't limited to square shaped.

Yes, yes... I was thinking there was an earth. You can cut out and customize how ever you want on the region, and you can make it any size and shape. Then you can terraform all of the region all at once. After, you can "cut out" a piece of land "to buy" for you to develop your city. If you ever need more land, buy it from the "Computer," so you can develop more land. You can also buy land from other cities. 4.gif
