Water cheat doesn't work?

I'm new to SimCity 4. I have the RH expansion and I'm running it on my Macbook Pro with the latest version of Leopard. When I started my city, I entered the power, water, and reward cheats (fightthepower, howdryiam, and you don't deserve it)--yes, I am a cheater. The power and reward cheats both worked, but the water cheat didn't. There's a news story every two seconds about the lack of water inhibiting growth, and when I moved in my Sims, they started complaining constantly about having no water. Does the water cheat not work for Macs, or is it case sensitive? What am I missing here?

No it should work. And I see no reason why it shouldn't work. Just try it again. And if it doesn't, water isn't that expensive. You could also try a capital "H".

I tried all lower case, the capital H, and other variations, and none of them worked. Now the power cheat has stopped working too--suddenly I'm getting no power messages. I'm baffled.

The water and power and even rewards cheat only work until you exit the city/tile. Im not quite sure why the water cheat doesn't work for you at all, but Hamish is right, water isnt really that expensive. If you really wanted to you could just download the radical ordinance mod and have a water tower/wind turbine supply water and power for the whole city at a very minimal cost.

You mean when you save your game and exit, then reload it, the cheats no longer work? Why have the cheats at all if you eventually have to build power plants and water pumps, then?

Even if the cheat is working the graphs and advisors say you dont have either if you don't see zots saying you have no power (symbols above the lot) the cheat is probably working put the game on fast forword and wait unfortunatly the advisors don't stop bugging you about power and water (i punish mine by turning them into llamas "dollyllama")

ps both cheats are all lower cas i went through the same thing last year

No, they still work, you just have to re-enter them every time you enter the tile.

Hello Lise,

My advise (not worth more than two cents, maybe even less on Macs) - when in doubt about the spelling (or existance) of a cheat code - find and install Buggi's ExtraCheats.dll, and let it show you what is available (please note - it does make a few more cheats functional, too).

I'm sorry - but as others have said - you need to re-enter any on-going cheat codes every time you enter a city.

These don't work on macs, so don't waste your time unless you are running it on something like bootcamp.

It's howdryiam incase you misspelled it...Anyways what is bootcamp can you give me a link or something so I can check it out, I know I need it too play Cities XL when it comes out.

You get it with leopard (I think) if you install it on an intel mac.

FYI, Cities XL might be released with a single PC/Intel Mac version, the way Spore was.

The same problem is also on Windows. The same thing happens to me. I enter all 3 cheats, and it says that my sims have a lack of water with hibits growth.
