    I quess I'm having one of those blond moments, but I still do not get how the rail is laid to connect it from one side to the other. Each time I try it, the lower section raises up. And yes I have read the readme's but I'm still in the dark about how to build a rail bridge. could someone help please? and I do have the lastest version of the NAM too.

    Check this out....i borrowed a texture from peg....to try out this idea...heres the piece i made...
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//00001newJeronij04.jpg align=baseline>
    Now here are how the lods are extended.....this is what makes this work....
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//00001newJeronij05.jpg align=baseline>
    This is the end result....a double layer bridge using unmodified nam pieces.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//00001newJeronij07.jpg align=baseline>
    this is where the prop sits and where the embenkment really exists.....its just covered up
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//00001newJeronij06.jpg align=baseline>
    and a couple more ingame shots
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//00001newJeronij08.jpg align=baseline>
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//00001newJeronij09.jpg align=baseline>
    i figure ill have to develope my own water textures for this or may be ask peg for permission .....id have to work on the textures first..
    what ya think

    ok this might be the coolest eddition so far into my model collection

    so i figured id push this as far as i can...i added a shadow and worked on the textures....this is complicated stuff compared to the avereage plop....its now becoming a kind of Construction Kit..lol...anyways tell me if this is way to complicated for release....since theres only three new props here...(ie you could do this with the jeronij modern walls with these additional props)...i think it might still be way over the average builders head...no offence...maybe just give it a difficulty rating...lol

    heres kind of a pre howtouse tutorial...again tell me if this is toooo complicated...40.gif

    1.first we build a raised viaduct.....i used those nam over rail pieces because i dont want posts....so far i dont see this as a problem though there could be issues..

    00001pegJerBridge01.jpg
    2. next we add our little wall caps that cover over the nam rail textures...this is one of the new props mentioned above..just a jeronij wall with an grass overhanging prop.
    00001pegJerBridge02.jpg
    3. next we add our arches....another new prop
    00001pegJerBridge03.jpg
    4. The we add some pillars and the bridges...
    00001pegJerBridge04.jpg
    5. Then fill in the bits with our existing peg and geronij bits....leaving one lot empty on either side of the bridge.....
    00001pegJerBridge05.jpg
    6. next simply plop the underbridge model into place on either side...heres a shot with one side just ploped...The lods in the model do all the work...esentially they tell sc4 to view my model over the terrain....
    00001pegJerBridge06.jpg
     and then a couple of shots....i think this is very cool...though i might have to come up with my own water model....ugh35.gif

    ya i thought of it a while back but never thought it would work...took about a day and half....but with the model i can now put anything under there....and at different levels....eyecandy multilevel viaducts are a reality with no special network pieces....the limitations?...only that the piece has to be used at the depth designed for ...but who cares...as seen above i have used the same piece rotated for each side...in otherwords i could make a center piece....then you have variable width...do the same with trees underneath....whatever....its gonna look sweet...

    That has to be the coolest thing I've seen on this website since, well, probably ever.

    Great work, buddybud!

    thanx all

    im quite excited about this...i made a middle piece a flat end piece and a 32 m deep piece...all the others are -16m so far...
    anyways ive discovered the limitation in terms of height..for those of you who care....the lods have to  extend down in a pyramid shape to allow the model to be viewed at all angles THROUGH the embankment...thus the taller the model...the brioader the base of the lods and model...so -32m is about all im willing to do...it gives you a 5 square wide base so it takes up a bit of room.... but it looks stellar...heres some pics of all the pieces so far implemented...love it...

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//oo1zpegbrip003.jpg align=baseline>
    remember this is just regular nam elevated railway tiles...no modifications....cant get much deeper realistically but it adds....some depth...to the pieces me thinks...plus there all varable puzzle pieces...

    first of all, i would like to thank everyone for their hard work on this project.  it goes great steps into adding realism into the game.

    i do have a problem that i am unable to correct, and i hope that i am posting it in an appropriate area.  when working on the under bridge scenery in my city, i have come across a problem.

    this does not occur everywhere.  i have gotten it to work correctly in other areas.

    i do believe that my terraforming differs from the 2 areas, but i don't know how to fix it.  can anyone show me my mistakes or guide me to a place to find the answers?

    thanks

    edit...no you made no mistakes...its the way the game engine works...but

    thats got nothin to do with me...actually youll note that diagonal terrain acts differently in two of the four possible directions....this is what the ribbed corner and sunken corner pieces are for....though they dont look the same as the regular diagonals...these two

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Corner%20Top.jpg align=baseline><ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Corner%20Bottom.jpg align=baseline>....other than that we cant do anything about it...its part of the game engine...

    anymore problems let me know...

    The only way I've managed to get past the terrain stepping that you have there is to dig deeper trenches.  The 14/15 meter depth that the sunken highway digging lot goes to simply isn't enough to make the engine properly fold the terrain square.  There's a sweet spot at around twenty meters or so that will make the engine do what you want, and you'll still be able to have a good looking sunken highway, complete with ramps.
