As you stand atop the hill, relishing in your victory, I watch you from the treeline almost a full kilometer away. A single laser shoots out of a device attached to the rifle scope I hold in my hands and produces a small dot of infrared light on your head. Sixteen miles away, the beam is picked up by the seeker head of GBU-24 Paveway laser-guided bomb attached to the under-wing pylons of an F-15E Strike Eagle. Receiving a warbling tone in his headset, the pilot releases the weapon.

Back on the hill, you wander about, wondering to yourself if the jet engine sounds you heard a moment ago. A feeling of dread sweeps over you. Fifteen hundred feet over your head, long green cylinder lances through the air as its fins make minute changes to the flight path. Less than twenty seconds after release, the weapon strikes its target.

From my position, all I see is a small point of light. A moment later, the hill erupts in a ball of flame. Korot is more.

I move in and secure the hill. My hill.
