Hello everyone. Being new to this concept of S4 modding and all that, I found out that after trying to get some of the stuff you guys have available here and specifically NAM i discovered a constant CTD situation. Now...i did read the FAQ and browsed for a few topics but then i found out that other stuff doesnt work with me

So, since i havent seen much WinVista complaining and being that my OS, I was wondering what are you guys personal experience concerning WinVista.

Thanks

SC4 works fine with Vista. I've been playing it on my computer since August of last year, and I haven't had too many problems with it (it's crashed a few times, but I think that's more because of my increased plugins folder than because of Vista). Of course, I am running Vista Home Premium with an Admin account.

I have had terrible luck with Windows Vista. As soon as I bought it SC4 started crashing about every 10-15 minutes still does to this day. I also have a huge plugins folder but I didn't think that had much with it crashing all the time.

I think SimCity works fine with Windows Vista but if you are using 2-core CPU only one of them should be turned on when running the game.

The reason why I installed XP beside Vista for SimCity playing is that Vista totally have problems with NHP SC4Mapper...

jimoehl93 - Try updating your video card driver. That and your sound card driver aswell. Run the most up to date Direct X... SC4 doesnt crash under my Vista after doing that. But it DOES run ungodly slow even with a Gig of Ram. Wouldnt recommend doing it unless you had atleast 2 gigs of ram.

I think the dual core problem only applies to AMD processors.

SC4 doesn't have any problems with Vista as far as i know. It's either some of your drivers (try updating as Need4Camaro said) or possibly faulty plugins.

For Me Vista has been doing wonderfully. I actually found that CTDs happen if you dont have SP1 installed for Vista. That's what I figured out.

Because when I first dealt with vista I had no Service Pack. So it was crashing. For some reason when I had to get another code I had to buy another OS CD. And I re-installed. When I first reinstalled it installed the service packl right after that. I suggest that you get the Service pack because it sorts out most of the problems.

    I had Vista's SP1 installed already.

Thanks for the replies...it seems Vista is not the problem then. However i got curious over that CPU thing...i have no idea on how to turn off one of the core's though...

I just got a new system (with Vista of course). I'm really disappointed that XP will be nothing more than a legend soon and I was worried that SC4 would be glitchy with Vista, but so far so good.

I'm using a quad core but nothing's turned off, and I have 4GB of RAM. I assumed right from the beginning that SC4 wouldn't even put a dent in that, even with my 6000+ plugins folder that clogged my old system. Everything else is running smoothly too. No crashes, no slowdowns, virtually instant startup. I feel badly when I hear horror stories from people with Vista (both here and otherwise) but I love it so far and it has helped make SC4 what I wanted it to be 5 years ago!
