Game Randomly Quits

I've been playing this since it came out and just recently it quits randomly.  I have to save the gae about every five minutes because I don't know why its quitting.  This has never happened before and nothing has changed about my computer, either.

Has anyone else had this problem and how might I fix it? Thanks.

paiste13: There are many known reasons why SC4 will just crash or "randomly quit".

More information is needed to help you. For instance, do you have the NAM installed? Any other mods? Did you place a puzzle piece over a transit-enabled lot? etc.

I have had the game 3 weeks and the only thing that has semi stopped my random "quitting" is playing in software mode. I tried everything, drivers, reinstalling game, with & w/o mods, reinstall windows, gaming tweaks, etc etc. I have a pretty lean, nice machine, E8400, 9600gt, 4g ram win xp, 250g hd. I think the game just doesnt like certain machines/hardware and no matter what you do it doesn't help.

I even tried an old ati card I had, x1900 and the game was a slide show in a big city. It's kind of funny my pc runs every modern day game at 50+ fps but this 5 year old game is just a hog.

I think some people are lucky and it just runs great, unfortunately you and I are not. 

If the game wasn't so great I would have dropped it 2 weeks ago.

Yes there is a fix, however, it applies primarily to Vista/Dual-Core users. I used to get this crashes at the stupidest of times. I've applied the fix, then clobbered together from different posts on different sites, and I have been crash-free since January.

Been dealing with it since the day I installed the game.

Possible reasons:

Graphics Card Drivers

Sound Card

Using scroll wheel on mouse to zoom.

Save Game Crashes

Virtual Memory overload.

Any of these...All of these, could lead to a potential crash.

Personally, I have found no solutions to resolve the crashes permenantly.

You just learn to adapt...save more often.

If you play like I do, and build in "pause", then simply remembering to save before restarting the clock does wonders.

And if for some reason I have not saved in awhile and the game punishes me...it's a good sign to walk away from the game for a while.

I'm not saying it's a good thing...but it can be a "use lemons for lemonade" situation.

I also have this problem that it randomly quits without any reason. The only thing i noticed is that when you try to play the tutorials and the already build in cities in the game it will randomly quits. And also if you import cities and try to play it it will also randomly quits so i suggest to not play the already build in cities, tutorials and DO NOT import cities and play them.

Hopefully this might help you guys if you dont ever tried this.
