Ok, I already screwed up on this once, so I think its time to ask. I have a region with cites and terraformed land and all that stuff, but I want to add on some extra squares. So I did this by just changing the config file, but when I went in, everything was gone, the cites, the landscape, everything. So how do I add on succecfully? Also, I have some already Mapped Regions I want to add onto it also, is this possible?

I think you can only add them to the right and bottom sides of the region. But Im not too sure.

But you can create a new region of the size that you wanted the old one to turn into. Then import the cities from the old region into the new one. And this wont accidently delete your region, or anything like that.

    Ok, that answers part one.

So does anyone know how to add more mapped regions to my area?

    Hello Explodingsims,

When you change the config.bmp so that the existing cities no longer match the available holes -

the game will bounce your existing cities over to the "...\Regions\Downloads" folder -

this your old cities aren't really lost - but it may be a real hassle to import them into your new region.

As to adding onto an existing region without bouncing current cities -

    hamish:

I think you can only add them to the right and bottom sides of the region.quote>

I'm not entirely sure that I understand what you mean by "mapped regions" -

but you can add regions - either with the "create region button" in region view,

or by adding another folder under "...\Regions\" (and copying - with any desired

    edits - a "config.bmp" file and a "region.ini" file into said folder).

You can also copy, while not running the game, city files from any region into

your "...\Regions\Downloads" folder and then in the game import these into other regions.

Where as when you import from an existing region - the game will remove the city from

the old region while putting it into the new region.

Please note - the import function will only show you cities of the proper size for where

you are trying to import to.

    Please enjoy the game,

    How did you map it?

Was it greyscale, hand terraformed, or with the SC4 Terraformer application?

If you hand terraformed it, it will be harder. I'd suggest making a new region of any size you chose. Then import your old cities into this new region. After that continue terraforming the from the edge of your cities outwards.

With Greyscale or a SC4 Terraformer map, Almost same process. Make a new region. Then change the, either jpg or the map file, to what you want your new region to look like. If you use the same region file for your old one then when you load the game, and render the region you can then import your old cities from the old region into this new one seamlessly.

I hope that that made sense. If not, feel free to ask more questions. And I hope that its the best way to do it as well.

Well, What I meant by mapped, was I downloaded the regions from the STEX, and I wanted to mash some of them together into one bit super region, if possible. I just want to know how to do this.

Thanks for the advice so far though, at least I know my cities aren't lost!

So you want bits of regions?

Well it would depend on what file the regions came as.

I don't know much about the SC4 Terraformer, but I think you can import the regions into one "super region", then sorta mash them together to make it fit.

If they came as greyscale jpgs it will be a bit harder. Just open them in an image editor, put them where you want them to go, then blend them a bit to make them fit, or not if thats what you want to do.

Unless you just want to have the regions or parts of the regions as they are, you could just render them in SC4 then move the city tiles around abit.

I hope this is sort of the type of answer you want.

And it will be possible, just might be a tad hard or long. And have a read in the mapping section of the Omnibus as well.

Ok, my problem was that I added on to the Left, and that seemed to screw everything up. Sigh.

So is it possible to add to the left, without screwing everything up? Or Do I have, Do what I did before, but start another region WITH all my cities in it, and then import them into my new area?

New city tiles (any of the three sizes) can only be added to the right and bottom of any existing region config file (using Paint, etc.). From there, you can import city tiles from other rendered regions (directly or from the Downloads folder) into the new areas that are the same size.

If you successfully add new cities tiles to the left (or top) side of a region

(where they aren't enough like what previously existed to bump things

over and add new tiles on the right / bottom side) - then any saved city files in

that region are likely to end up in the "...\regions\downloads" folder and

have to be re-imported to the right / bottom side of your expanded region.

    -OR-

As you said - create an entirely new region - with the appropriate sized tiles

in the appropriate locations - then import (either directly or via copies to the

downloads folder) your existing "saved" city files into your new region.

    Please Enjoy,
