Well heres my first CJ, I'm no Sim City veteran or writer but hopefully you will enjoy the sites of Cork (no relation to Cork, Ireland!).

 corkwebuv6.jpgcity6yo0.jpg

The Cork Financial District, many companies hav moved into this area due to its close links with the Cork Internation Rail Station, the Motorway and the Cork underground hub (just out of picture).

 financetowersn5.jpg

The main building in this area is the Finance Tower, at over 400 metres tall it is currently the largest skyscraper in Cork.

This is a nice start, so really good work with it. The banner at the top was a really good idea, and it was a very interesting way to introduce you new CJ. For someone that is not a Sim City Veteran you did qutie an excellent job, so great work. 9.gif

Looks very good so far!

If I may suggest one thing however,

you may want to download the "Traffic Generator"

from the STex. It kind of livens cities up more by producing

a lot of traffic. It puts cars on the road, Idk I really like it

anyway, lol.

Other than that everything looks really good, Id love

to see a night pic though, thatd be cool as well! : ]

Love it! Great banner and intro and the city looks cool. And, as someone who lives 3 miles from the North Carolina-South Carolina border in RL, I will certainly make a visit to Cork and pay my respects.

Wow nice start! The banner on top was cool! I do agree with tigerplayer91 in that you should get the traffic generator from stex, other than that, looks great!

Good start! I like your building use, and how there isn't the same skyscraper repeated ten times. This is especially good for a first CJ.

Very nice. I love the use of the BBC website! It makes it feel like a real place... in fact i may have to search google earth. I like the haze you've added to your images (i assume). It makes them look like they were taken from a distance. The CBD looks great. I look forward to seeing the rest.

Map of Cork City, light blue is the sea, darker blue is the commercial area, green residential. . . you know the drill.

Amerikaner - Thanks for your comments.

tigerplayer91 - Yes it does look like a bit of a ghost town and I'll have a look at the traffic generator.

Schulmanator - Ha! Good luck trying to find Cork where you live. 3.gif

tennis162 - Thanks, unfortunatly the website lost a lot of its quality as I resized to 800 x 600.

edmonton_stinks - Thank you, I spent alot of time making sure the commerical area didn't have repeating buildings everywhere. Will be a challenge to get the same variety in other areas of the City.

    deion30296 - Only 104? 3.gif

    jacqulina - Thanks.

feliwi - Glad you like it and thanks for replying.

jjune4991 - I take it you mean the big blue tower? You can find it here - https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=19616

psander5 - I did add a small effect to the images and thank you for your nice comments.

wallasey - You may perhaps have to wait a while before we move out to the suburbs, but I'm looking foward to see how well they turn out.

jacqulina - Thank you for your 2nd reply! Its really appreciated.

anarchy0029 - Thanks a lot, I'm also looking foward to more!

Perhaps in the next update we will move away from the Financial district for a bit.

Right, so in this update we're hopping across the motorway, to the largest stadium in Cork and its surrounding hi-rise development.

The picture below shows a statue to Cork F.C's greatest manager.

Haven't quite finsihed some of the areas in this photos, hence some repetition.

Don't worry about repetition among HK highrises, as many condos include massive development projects (or at least for sure in HK) that have more than one tower.

Ah I love that stadium, I could never place it quite

right in my cities. It always looked...out of place. lol

But youve done an excellent job incorporating it into yours,

    keep up the great work!

Thank you for your comments, now time for an update. We are moving back across the motorway into the centre of Cork city.

    centre4.jpg

Emerald Tower marks the commercial centre, while its not the tallest tower and has a simple shape, it has become the landmark of Cork.

penguin007 - Thank you for commenting, good to here you think its well layed out, I always thought my cities were poorly planned.

psander5 - He was a great manager, infact the best. You can find the stadium by searching dmscopio on the STEX, the download is in two parts.

tankmank - I'm glad you like the city and thank you for your comment.

panthersimcity4 - I love the HK stuff on the  STEX they just had to be included!

edmonton_stinks - Yeah you're right, I was looking at a few pictures of Chinese cities the other day  and noticed how the highrises just repeated each other just like in sim city!

tigerplayer91 - I love that stadium too, probably my favourite on sim city and there are alot of good ones!

penguin007 - Hopefully this CJ does these great skyscrapers justice!

jacqulina - Thank you for your comement and I'm glad you like the city.

I decided to give you a sneak preview of the industrial areas in Cork.

Update time, this time I'll be showing the industrial areas on both sides of the river.

    industry4.jpg

    industry3.jpg

The picture below shows the main container port, both importing goods from far away factories and exporting products the products that have been manufactured in Cork.

    industry2.jpg

    industry1.jpg

However the manufacturing industry has declined in Cork over the latter half of the 20th century as companies looked to countries with cheaper wages. Today Cork's industry is mainly hi-tech.

    AMD.jpg

But to this day a few of the large, dirty factories that transformed the region still remain in Cork.

    indsutry6.jpg

The picture below shows a small oil refinery, which is set to be expanded to meet the increasing demand of oil, in Cork and around the world.

Excellent industrial area! The PEG seaports look really good. Once again, I like the photo editing. It really tones down the bright blue loading cranes!

Thanks for the stadium pointer. I downloaded the rest of dmscopio's buildings aswell!
