Proposal verdicts:

Ntq$310: Your proposal is a complex one.  I'm happy that you've since decided to withdraw your proposal for a large office tower.  It would have been very difficult to approve such a building at this time.  If you can find a smaller office building i'd be happy to consider it.  Limit it to around 4 storeys in height, but floor plan is more flexible.

The branch building you've selected is also unsuitable.  It's a little too brutalist for Virgin Shores.  I took the liberty of searching for a few alternatives, all of which I approve of, for you, the mayor  and interested citizens to have a look at.

Your second proposal is far simpler.  I approve every element of you proposal for the resort area.

ericlewis91: I think Virgin shores can handle a McDonalds.  As the mayor has stated, we need to see a viable building first.  As for the location, I'd reccomend either of the two northern locations, adjacent to Patricius Maximus' commercial areas.

Remember; if you disagree with any element of my verdict I will listen to an appeal.

hmm ill like to first apolgize for making the propsal so confusing, i should have worded it, and thouhg of it better.

at this point this seems a good fit for a hq type building

it meets the codes i believe.

Now on the smaller banks i must say you pick a good selection, and i have not seeen those before.

the 3rd one i say i like the best with the 2nd and 1st also good, hmmm i would say possibly diverstity in the banks may be good?

Can I have one of those houses next to the beaches please? And since you posted those election results, that reminds me, listen to this. My county, Campbell County, Tennessee, just finished our elections. And for the mayor's office, it was a real nail-bitter. ONLY 4 VOTES SEPERATED THE WINNER AND THE LOSER. The guy who won, was a former mayor of Oak Ridge or as I said earlyier, The Secret City of Tennessee. And the guy who lost was in office since the 1980's. But last year, and now he is still getting slaped with all of these corruption charges the TN FBI branch is finding out about. And now it's 75 charges so far and it is still going up. But what can we say, that's life and sometimes people make stupid choices. And DTP, choose the Towne Bank lot. I mean you live near VA Beach. and I used to live LESS THAN 2 MILES FROM IT. Sorry about that, got a lilttle bit too overexcited.

Great, The health is fine, the education is fine, but could you build a library in the middle please? They are cheap, provide education for all, and have a big radius.

Virgin Shores is such a beautiful city. Have you considered a port expansion? I think I could give you a few of Peg's great industrial and commercial docks that would look great in the city. Maybe some gantry cranes would make the port look like it has more depth to it.

Hampi: I would be too if I were you.

    Thanks.

There will be a new town in the next update.

Ntq$310: OK, good decision to wait on it.

psander5: I'll commence construction on his resort area tonight, then. As for the banks, I like options 1 and 3. 3's cool because it's a local bank here in Hampton Roads.

I agree about the McDonald's proposal too.

Ntq$310: That building's only a growable version, so I can't use it. As for the smaller banks, I'll use a mix of the three, plopping one in Oak Grove, one near Hampus Village and Crazyarchitect Corner, and one in the far north by Patricius's commercial.

Matthew: Yeah, I like the Towne Bank one too.

Goldfish4209: Haven't seen you around in a while. Thanks!

Oh, it's just a prop in jeroni's street-side mod. It has no relation to crime, and as I've stated previously, there is none.

TimeMaster: You have a particular library BAT? If not I'll use the default or one of SG's.

supercity124: Please remove the Utility Commission banner from your sig. You're not the head of that department anymore. I welcome you to put a regular banner, but those are for department heads.

Also, I'm going to have to ask you to please not post unless you have something constructive to add and can be polite. I told you that I would have a picture of it next update, and have you seen an update yet? No. And I'm starting to get sick of the demanding posts. This is my City Journal, so you have to let me decide when and what to post!

Matthew: Just a prop that comes with Jeroni's Street-Side Mod.

    Interchange: Thanks!

Well, I already have all of Peg's stuff (beta tester), and there already is a new port in planning: Hawk Island.

    HOLY COW!

I never dreamed there would be this many posts after me being gone for a weekend.

I kinda got lost. So basically, the elections are over. (Congrats to everyone!) And you will start expanding to the north now?

Im just gonna have to re read the updates.

And after doing my Physics homework, I think I made the right desicion by not re running for office. These kinematic equations are gonna kill me.

Haha. Good luck with the physics!

I forgot to mention something else in the last update:

Patricius, what does the DOT think about paving Frontier Rd. out to the new residential neighborhood? There will be potential traffic problems when the area is fully developed.

I would like to propose a KFC restaurant in Virgin Shores, I will show you where the KFC restaurant should built

    174Overview-FullSize.jpg

It is south of the C&W Railroad Line, on the corner of the two roads right where the farm is, next to the river. The KFC Restaurant will be on Main Street, on a corner road next to the river and the bridge.

I will submit this to the City Planning Department.

WOW, so much has happened since I left yesterday, I would have put in my comments sooner, but RLS had me by the arm. Took in an Astros game, which sucked lol, and shopped for bedding (ugghla), but I finally was able to get my sig to work, I hope the link works this time lol. Anyway to some business and comments. Awesome update, looks like we are in line on everything, I guess my only graph that I should worry about is land values, you tell me???

As Head of Recreation, I was proposing a couple of parks, maybe one in the city center and one by Oak Grove and Hampi's new residential area(by the hospital)

    Thanks,

hmm there is a thing called building plop dtp, you can use that to plop it 2.gif though if you dont want to use it that's ok.

And wow this forum is very very active.....i cant keep up :sweatdrop

Ohhh and seeing as we are expanding north what are your plans to get power and water to the area? or to even handle garbage?

We could do deals for garbage and water, or even power, though that would mean the expansion of the system would be needed exavntrally, thouhg i dont know if we reached garbage capacity.

If were making every tile self dependent may i would like to start developing a plan for the area, and a 20 tile area like the first one.

TimeMaster: I'll try and make it as centrally located as possible.

supercity124: Please resize your picture. The forum rules say no bigger than 800x600. That's 1024x819, which means you did resize it from the original 1280x1024.

I think the KFC should be OK, but is there any possible way you could actually show in the picture where? I'm a little confused by your description.

crazyarchitect: Sounds like fun... 34.gif 20.gif

I'll get you a land values graph in update 20. I didn't read this in time for update 19.

Those places should be fine. Just give me specifics.

    TimeMaster: See below...

    Ntq$310: I'll look into that.

Well to show it this update, I had to temporarily plop a windmill and water tower, but only the windmill can be seen in the pictures, as with your approval I'd like to leave it there.

I would be fine with making neighbor deals.

    UPDATE 19!

First, the first legs of the Green and Red lines are open for commuters.

Hopping on a city bus at the Main St. and Center St. stop, we then proceed west down Center St. and shortly make a hard right onto Frontier Rd. After another curve to the left, we come to the first stop, at S. Franklin St.

    196GreenLineSFranklinSt.jpg

After bumping across the Coastal & Western line, we arrive at the line's current western terminus, the refinery.

    197GreenLineRefineryStop.jpg

A few minutes later, we hop on an eastbound bus back to Center St., where we transfer to the Blue Line., which will take us north to Coast Hwy. There we wait a few minutes to catch a transfer onto the Red Line, to take us north into the heart of Hampi's humongous development.

It appears an error was made on the route map, as the road turns several times and passes through a roundabout before reaching the line's first stop, Kilallén Blvd.

    192RedLineKillalenAve.jpg

A couple monotonous blocks north, we arrive at an as-of-yet unnamed stop, and turn right.

    198RedLineUnnamedStop.jpg

Proceeding down the side street, we arrive at the Coast Highway and make a left turn to head north up it. After passing several more intersections, we arrive at this line's current northern terminus, the Northern Commercial District.

    199GreenLineNorthernCommercialDistr.jpg

We then disembark the bus, and hop into our car to finally explore what's down the Coast Highway. We get a little nervous approaching the Yellow Arrow, but pass through safely into another place, where there is an immediate smooth curve to the left, with a vast body of water on our right, and the railroad on our left.

[Pictures from the new city are linked to full-size, unedited versions]

    1912NeighborConnection.jpg

There you can see the windmill temporarily supplying power to something down the lines...

After traveling straight down the road for a few minutes, it curves again and we cross a magnificent stone arch bridge, wondering how the construction crews out here over a kilometer away from civilization could construct such a feat of engineering. Next to it is a rail Pratt Truss (correct me if I'm wrong, sometimes I mix up the Pratts, Warrens, and the like), and a sign at each end of the bridge proclaims it the Twin Bridges, which puzzles us as they are completely different. Hmm... something to ask around about.

    1913TwinBridges.jpg

After proceeding around another, even more gradual curve, we arrive in a small town, dubbed Oilville, pop. 116. A quick drive around town reveals nothing of much interest, except for the origin of the town's name, which is evidenced by the four symmetrical oil derricks.

    1915Oilville.jpg

A quick drive around town reveals to us another dirt road leading across the tracks to the west, so we turn onto it, and follow some undeveloped residential zones a little ways down to some industrial building. A little more exploration reveals that it is a furniture company, Perkin's.

    1914PerkinsFurnitureCompany.jpg

OK, this town's starting to get boring, and I have to use the bathroom, so let's go back home. 18.gif On our way back into town we pass one of the newly opened Virgin Shores National Bank branches, the Patian Branch.

    1911VSNBPatianBranch.jpg

We decided to take a small detour on our way home to check out the other branches. The next one we come to is the Crazyarchitect Corner Branch, which is the largest of the three being located near the center of town.

    193VSNBCrazyarchitectCornerBranch.jpg

The third branch is located in Oak Grove, down the hill from the bus stop.

    194VSNBOakGroveBranch.jpg

While down here on the South Side, we decide to check out all the new construction in the resort area.

There appears to be a new hotel to compete with un1's Vacation Resort and LIH's Days Inn, the independently-owned Hotel ZaZa (of no relation to the LIH property in Hanging Cliff, Franklin County), and an Olive Garden and Outback Steakhouse to go with it.

    191HotelZaZaandOliveGarden.jpg

    195Outback.jpg

When we finally decided to head home for good, we pass one last new building, the new Library.

    1910Library.jpg

That's it for this update. Now a few interdepartmental memos.

DOT: Think about a passenger rail line into Oilville, extending the Red Line into Oilville as well, and extending the Green Line into Frontier. Also, get planning that freeway! I'm ready to begin on it.

Utility Commission: Think about utilities for Oilville. Can that windmill stay? Where should the water tower/pump be located? How should they take care of garbage?

DHE: Be planning for schools and hospitals in Oilville.

Virgin Oil Rep.: Think about an increase in refining capacity with new oil.

Planning Committee: You've got developments to approve.

DOR: Think about future recreation needs in Oilville.

    I think that's everybody.

By the way, Oilville and the previously mentioned Arrowhead Point are the same city tile. Oilville is on one side of the Wright River, and Arrowhead Point on the other.

: hmm i have alot to think about. I will first like to request a 5 by 5 area llike the one in virgin shores, and the one in virgin shores to be upgrade to the samething, this gives us much more opitions for power plants.

I fully support the windmill, and will like to request some land around that area to be avaliable to use for continue use of wind energy. now you mihgt be wondering why im requesting two land area's, thouhg wind is very nice, for a fully developed area it simply isnt enough. Though i do fully support it's use.

On water i think at this time shipping it from virgin shores would be nice, thouhg in the future i will develope the water system.

I will like garbage at this time to be shipped to virgin shores, and there shipping station to be upgraded if needed

I will develope the area in the future, but for the size of the area i find it better to use virgin shores utility capabilities for the time being.

Now unrealted from this i really like how my developments are coming along, and the way you've done them, i will like to request a bank somewhere near oilville, or arrowhead point. Ive certainlly became a land owner for virgin shores, i hope im giving a good boost to econemy.

Also dtp good job on the updates 2.gif this one came by very fast just after 18.

Wow, where to start, wonderful update anyways. On my last proposal, maybe we could use SG park tiles, for city center we could use one with a fountain, the other two could be whatever you think would be nice. On Oilville, maybe a baseball field near the new residential area.

DTP: Great update! Really liked the way you are showing the bus lines! And the new town is looking pretty to hope we can develop that town much more now!

The resort area also looks amazing! Hope many tourists come to Virgin Shores so we can get an even larger boom in economy!

That library also looks very nice!

I approve a increase of the refining capacity.

What's the best build a new refinery in Virgin Shores or build a new one in Oilville?

Maybe we shall place the new refinery in Oilville to get more people to move there and thereby increasing the population.

And like the real estate developer I am.

I would like to propose a new development  plans for Virgin Shores:

    Realestatedevelopment-1.jpg

Light Green: Housing development, Light Residential.

Dark Green: Some kind of park.

Light Blue: Commercial Development, DTP is free to choose what commercials that shall be built there!

Black area: I would like that street to be upgraded into a full road if my plans get accepted.

And I would like many other's want to open up some kind of business!

I would like to open up some coffee shops around Virgin Shores, the locations can be chosen  by DTP, if this plans get approved then.

    https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=11901

That's the building I want to be my coffee shops.

roboo1: Thanks. The streets are the SAM asphalt texture, btw.

Ntq$310: Well actually you can't refer to that city as Virgin Shores, as that's the name of the region/country. I haven't decided on a name for the overall original town yet.

OK, that land grant's fine too.

I was thinking something along the lines of offshore... and there's not really room on that little point for more than one windmill, but I can replace it with a bigger one as the power needs require.

I can import water and export garbage, just need to hook up pipes.

Thanks. A bank should help stimulate the economy of Oilville.

    Tommy_vercetti3: Thank you.

crazyarchitect: SG has park tiles? When did that happen?

I could do a baseball field in Oilville.

Hampi: Thanks. I was thinking of putting a small refinery in Arrowhead Point to complement the Hawk Island Seaport if it ever gets built. Probably a similar design to the smaller Sibelus Ln. refinery.

We should head from the Planning Committee soon, but those development pans look fine to me.

Coffee shop looks fine to me too.
