The most beautiful CJ I have seen on Simtropolis. The storyline is great but the presentation of maps, screenshots etc is the real treat for me. This is very entertaining and I hope you will continue for a long time with this CJ.

I've re-read your original post and start to this journal, I think you have done an interesting job in following theme providing area city names and tossing in a few twists! that includes the legal news. 16.gif
I've been debating on starting a journal as well, problem is after I found out how to use new maps, the Digby region you created and uploaded to Simtropolis (thank you very much btw) turns out to be my current favorite. Reason why I chose this region is because I wanted very much to experiment with a some bridgework and rail freight & ports. And since we all know how SC4 is with bridgework, well you know the game. So, even though what I had in mind is different from your theme / concept, even just being a game I didn't want to cause a conflict or look like a journal taking thunder away from yours.

This CJ is genius, read through it all so far, and the level of detail is stunning. Makes me wish i could play sim city 4 again.

Lewellen, I am truly in awe of Digby. Really. It is simply breathtaking.

I'm just really curious - in one of your photos about the level track mod on Page 25, there was a picture of little fences around your farms. I have the same BAT by suico, but those fences seem to come complete with rows of trees as well. Your fences do not appear to have any trees, and I would love to have that extra variety in my fences. Did you get these fences from Suico as well?? Please, please let me know where I can download them.

Anyway, I just have to say again.. Digby is my favourite CJ and I keep checking here regularly for updates. 44.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif

best regards
artemis

Oh boy...More Changes to the Posting Interface!

In an effort to try to keep my Digby posts consistant, I'm gonna have to play around here for a minute trying to match up typefaces...standby...

Hmmm..Verdana Size 2 is looking not bad on my system here...

Now For a Title Test...well, this isn't the best match...I seem to have lost the ability to use Arial Black! Drat!...

Maybe I'll just cut-and-paste my titles from previous posts...

Whoops...another problem...the editor does not differentiate between a carriage return (Enter key) and a forced carriage return (Shift-ENTER keys)...this means I cannot isolate and highlight a single paragraph for indent without affecting the entire post. I'll have to message Dirk about this.

Give me a second to muck around with the next update. In the meantime, look at pictures of me on my horse at www.fnmp.org ...they are good for a laugh.

Also, I apologize for the lack of updates. I am overwhelmed with work right now. I am on the implementation team that is installing a new computer system for my 700-officer police force..that, coupled with my playing the role of Captain von Trapp full-time in The Sound of Music (I kid you not, I do a lot of musical theatre also) is really taking up all my gaming time!

    Water Mod for Digby

You read it in the news, and now it is a reality! The water in Digby is now more consistent with what one would find on a northern east coast area.

When looking for a water mod that would get rid of the sparkly-blue default water of the game, I was initially going to let you guys vote on what you wanted. But then I realized that there was a factor that would alter the process. This was the Pegasus Factor.

The Pegasus Factor dictates the following:

1 - The BAT creations by Pegasus are superior, often exceeding the quality of even the Maxis creations, and must be accounted for by any serious user of SimCity 4.

2 - Pegasus uses water (such as his Ponds, Streams, and other creations). Water is water. It should look consistent on the landscape.

Thus, I had to abandon my plan to let the readers decide on what water to use for Digby. Instead, I needed to find a suitable match for Pegasus' ponds and streams.

Here is what I chose to pick from (using Granton Beach as our test area):

    Water_Samples.jpg

By the way, most of those above were created by Simtropolite timotheus, who offers a great variety of water options.

A quick comparison to Pegasus' water narrowed down the choices quickly.

    And the Winner is...Muddy Grey

The winner? Timotheus' Muddy Grey! Although the other water textures all looked great, there really wasn't much choice in the end.

Here it is compared with Pegasus' water:

    PEG_Water_Comparison.jpg

    That's good enough for me!

Want to see it in practice? We'll to to Naylor's Pass for a look:

    Spot_Naylors_Pass.jpg

    Naylors_Pass_Dananagua2.jpg

The Dananagua River is looking much more like a real river, and not one from fantasyland.

A realworld comparison with Pegasus' water can be found in Arlington County:

    Arlington_Dillford_Res2.jpg

I am happy with this, so I think I'll keep it!

Granton Gets a New Private Girl's School
As you may remember from the news a while back, Granton has a new private girl's school. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing depends on your income level!

Looking at the rear of the school:

    And the west side:

There are not, to my knowledge, any plans for a boy's school. Maybe the Board of Education thinks there's no hope for the boys...

For those row of trees going through the fields, you should get the 'Farm Fences' mod by suico.

I like the DLS's so much that I use that technique on my city, Newity.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//newityDLS2.JPG align=baseline>

What I mean by 2nd DLS is I posted 2 DLS's one day and that DLS is posted on that day.

Hey, I just want to say that lining those farms with trees reminds me of hedge rows in france. Also, it's very realistic, because it creates a wind break. Just a little 9th Grade knowledge there for ya.

P.S. This region has been something that I've been looking for for a while.

    Hello Paul!

    Finally - a new update!

Honestly I must say you are better than me - and I am a civil engineer - special field traffic engineering ... 30.gif

Anyway - I love your CJ ... everytime you learn somethings (and if it is only the small things you do with your cj ... )

In my current region you can easily recognice Pre-Digby and digby-influenced cities - the last ones are way more beautiful ....

    keep it on!

    Sweet another great Digby update!

I love the new water. It looks very cool and brings much more realness to Digby then I could have ever imagined!Great work with that!44.gif

Also after seeing all of the different kinds of water there are I may consider downloading the Venice type or U.K. water for my new region...29.gif

Thats one of the many ways Digby has helped me make better regions!!

    Great update as always!44.gif

Also will you be using PEG's Hydro dam in the near future?

I believe that if you check back a few pages, you'll see that Paul has been using the Farm Fences mod as well.. In fact he has dealt with it in great detail.. 30.gif

Hi paul, this ius my first time replying, I've known about it for 2-3 weeks it's excelente'.
I was doing something like this when I first got the game when it came out(not posted though) and gave up, with no tools and no know how, heck I didnt even know about this site back then, I just didn't go along with theLong-term grow and wanted skyscrapers... yet again more renewed interest in a game by inspiration of another. Great CJ Great game44.gif
