Good thing nobody's filed a recall petition yet!  I'm sure there's developers trying to call every day, the land values must be skyrocketing with this summers zoning moratorium.  2.gif

You have inspired me to try a new way of SC4... starting at the grassroots farm level.
I have developed a few city squares, and now finding the AG demand really tapering off... even in neighbouring areas. How have you avoided this?
So much demand for R and C, but all my stats on I is in the negative. I only have a region pop of 20,000. THis has never happened b4, but this is also the only time I have tried begining in this fashion. (normally just jump straight into planning for a metropolis).

Any tips when you get time?

I've had similar problems with the I-Ag demand in my CJ as well (see the link below).  Basically the demand is a function of the population of the region combined with the wealth levels.  Generally, starting a new village of R$ residents will kick the demand up a bit.  The Region Census program in the mods section is a good way of figuring out the actual RCI numbers in your individual cities and regions (not to mention great for region screenshots!).

Hope that helps.

P.S. Waiting for more updates! 1.gif

radenskloof-
I'm having good luck w/ a farming region, building only small towns, many R$ folks and giving them a tax break, low taxes on Ag, only elementary schools in the outlying villages, and no water for most towns.
I have 3 large towns/small cities w/ water, High Schools and some manufacturing. Seems to be holding Ag demand for now.
Of course, they have to use the village witch doctor for health care, and that rural crime might pick up w/o cops around.
Keep an eye out for the Mohawk Valley CJ in a week or 2.

Thank you both for your advice...I will give it a try.

This CJ (and also the New Holland CJ) have both sent me in a completely new direction... away from skyscrapers and into the back yard.

Keep it going.

Perhaps the Digby Government planned this vacation just to get prices to rise... 37.gif

    I'm Back!

Wow! I leave for a little while, and come to find that we've surpassed 40,000 views!

Hmmm..guess I'd better get back to working on the journal.

Okay, since we've been gone for so long, I am going to prepare a little recap of our six main cities, then I'll get on to the promised Power Report. After all, City Hall and Regional Council have been asking for it for weeks, and are getting testy...

Gosh, I am so out-of-practice that I couldn't even remember that my graphics had to be JPEG and not GIF! (Sigh)...

    Just  a Friendly Reminder!

I don't mean to harp on about this, but at the risk of sounding like a nag, I just wanted to reiterate a couple of preferences I have about posting here in the Digby City Journal. Please don't take this as a prohibition on posting, as I don't want to discourage discussion...but...

    /idealbb/files/Paste

Please don't paste any of my
    already-posted images into your replies!

It tricks viewers into thinking I have posted another graphic, and disturbs the flow of the journal.

If you have done this in the past, I would be most appreciative if you would go back and edit your posts without the graphics. If you do this, you will create good karma around yourself for days...

Let's try to keep the journal as trim and clean as possible.

I love to get private messages, so if you don't wanna post here or if you want to help keep things lean, just send me a private message and I will always respond!

However, I don't want to discourage thoughtful discussion and interesting comments, as I enjoy them! (Just try to limit the one-word responses and the bumping...)

Okay, let's get on with the journal.

    Population Update

To get up back into the swing of things, we'll have a quick look at a report on the increase in population in the region.

The graphic below represents only the eight major cities. The many other towns and villages are reflected in the total regional population.

Some areas have suffered a decrease in population as residents have moved to adjoining (unreported) cities and townships. Increases are only reported in cities where construction has occurred.

Have a look at this graphic to reorient yourselves. I'll post again in a while.
