OMG i am so amazed by this, you make all of us try harder, make us look differently at our own cities and in the end help all of us make better cities.

Youre STAR TREK :D

    Another Map Approach
    /idealbb/files/Spot-Granton11.jpg

Okay, we're still in Granton. This time we'll look at a map that captures the entire city view and shows a few highlights.

    /idealbb/files/Granton_RoadMap01b5.jpg

Okay, so the graphic wasn't quite truthful...in fact there are THREE images above. I'm not sure if I find this approach too busy. I will continue to play with the idea.

    That's it for now!

Wow!  You must spend as much time in Photoshop as you do in the game!

    Great work!

    Train Maintenance Facility
    by Opie

Time to have a look at another BAT structure, this one designed by Opie, who wins today's admiration for a structure well-done!

Since we're still in Granton, that's where the structure went.

    /idealbb/files/Granton_RailMaint01.jpg

I really do like adding rail facilities, as they were so integral to 1950's economy. Here is a closer look.

    /idealbb/files/Granton_RailMaint_Close.jpg

I really like the work people such as Opie and the others are doing with the BAT. I intend to work a lot more of people's creations into the Digby world.

Next, we'll be taking a look at the public utilities in Granton, and start talking about simoleons, finanaces, and such.

wow... you have quite the journal...

Anyways, i started looking at everything again from page 1, and then when I got to the one map showing all the towns, I started reading the names. Now I don't think that this was asked before, but...
Did you get the names from a map of Southern Ontario? They seem almost too farmiliar...

And here's bunnies for you: 35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif

I really love your cj and it is the best I have seen yet. I like the way you have all those little villages and the farms. But really, since you started this cj, there was no huge progress in your city. Add more stuff. I really like how you give tips on how to make a realistic city, they are good tips. It would just be nice to see the city grow more and more frequent updates. We just need the pictures with a little story, you can stop the photoshop modifications now (even if its that that got me interested more). It looks nice but it takes a lot of your time for nothing. And one more thing, your brazil stuff that lasted for 3-4 pages was soooo boring, I stopped reading it after some posts.

As I say, keep those screenshots coming and keep this cj alive please.

PS One thing I would like to see from you is more tips on putting the educational, public, water power, etc. buildings and when and where is the best time/place to put them. And show them to us where they are in your city. That would be a good update.

Hey. I just recently got back into SC4 (compare join date to post 9.gif) and was scouring simtropolis for realistic cities, similiar to Carthage from last year. Had quite a few disappointments, as city after city had wall to wall skyscrapers, cities with no sense of scale or place, and generally boring development. I can't tell you how impressed I was when I saw this journal. So today I read it the whole way through, all sixteen pages, and I'd like to thank you for getting me very inspired to dive back into SC4! Fantastic work - best CJ on simtropolis, by far.

This thread has always been a source of inspiration for me.
It keeps me playing SC4 until the Sims 2 is released...

You must spend a lot of time on it. Congratulations for all your work !

    Mulgrove
I know I said we'd be looking at the utilities in Granton, but since it's been a while since we made a small town visit, I thought we'd take a quick side trip!

    /idealbb/files/Spot_Mulgrove.jpg

    /idealbb/files/Mulgrove_visit.jpg

Like a lot of towns in Digby, Mulgrove is on the ocean.

    /idealbb/files/Mulgrove01_z5.jpg

Normally, wind-swept land is the bane of the farmer. But in Mulgrove, it is a blessing. The land here is perfect for the famous Mulgrove Apple. For reasons not entirely understood, the Mulgove Apple will only grow in this area.

    Green's Grocers
    by Havoc

Now we'll take a closer look at the town center. There's a special building here, too!

    /idealbb/files/Mulgrove_Greens_Close.jpg

Since apple farming is such an important part of Mulgrove, we'll take a stroll out to the country just to the west of the town. The orchards around Mulgrove dominate the landscape. The tell-tale yellow and red patterns on the trees remind any visitor that they are in Mulgrove Apple country!

    /idealbb/files/Mulgrove_Farms.jpg

Of course, apple farming isn't the only thing people in Mulgrove do. The town is still close to the ocean...

    /idealbb/files/Mulgrove_Whales.jpg

Walking through Mulgrove at night is safe and peaceful. Of course, if you go out for a stroll you won't see anybody, because everyone is inside their houses watching television.

    /idealbb/files/Mulgrove_NIght.jpg

And that's Mulgrove! Hope you enjoyed your visit. (Don't forget to take some apples home!)
