Following Calistan's brutal attack on the city of Callia, the Queen of Illium conferred with her High Council. Today, Queen Alexis II declared an official state of war against the Federation of Calistan. Upon this statement, the Illium Wartime flag was raised over the capitol.

illium_flag_copy_812.jpg

The Red field behind the Illium National Shield symbolizes the absolute power of Illium, despite all odds.

The Black field on the left stands for Illium's absolute resolution to be victorious.

The divided white line symbolizes the continuing forward progress, and shows our ability to make distinction between power and resolution.

The Black Phoenix stands for Illium's immortality and ability to rebuild after any crisis.

Arcadia consists of two large countries. The origional, Democratic Republic of Pratt (Just Pratt for short) and the Constitutional State of Smelt (Just Smelt for short)

prattflag2.png

Pratt Flag:

Blue for the beautiful ocean that surrounds Pratt

Yellow for the fields of ripe wheat that polka-dot Pratt

Green for the green forests of southern Pratt

The Liger (National Animal that Resides in Southern Pratt) symbolizes Strenghth and Pride, while the Unicorn (An exinct Animal that once was found where the big city of Gainveville) symbolizes the majestic beauty of the land

smeltflag.jpg

Smelt Flag:

The Black symbolizes the oil off the coast, which started the Great Oil War and later seperation of Smelt from the mother country of Pratt.

The Red symbolizes the blood that was shed in the Great Oil War, that citizens of Smelt will never forget

The Pratt flag is at the top left because in order to split apart into two nations Smelt was required to keep the Pratt flag somewhere on their own flag

The Black cube represents the loss of life in the war, and he whole in every citizens heart from it.

Wonderful guys. I had started a new thread about tis, being new, but someone pointed this out to me. I really think this helps one shape their cities. It determines how they build, etc, and it's just fun. Here is mine with the appropiate description:

post-468468-0-00780900-1327289035_thumb.

Symbolism/Explanation:

The Cross of course represents Christianity, while the Cresent is the symbol of Islam. While Berlin is a Catholic kingdom, the Cresent is meant to represent the marriage alliance between Berlin and Saui Arabia, in which King Brandon married an Arabian princess, who even, with her father's reluctant blessing converted to Christianity. Furthermore in the Third World War in which Berlin, Saudi Arabia, and other Islamic forces were united, despite religious differences, for common cause against the New World Order, so this symbolises that union. Brandon, however, with Louis XX, was made King of Jerusalem, the traditional kingdom that existed before the crusades, but in order to maintain peace the Muslims are allowed to practise their religion, and indeed live rather peacefully together, conducting their buisiness and maintaining friendships, though only the heirs of Berlin and France have right to rule the kingdom. The fleur de lis is of course a symbol of the Blessed Trinity, and the dragon a symbol of strengh, ferocity, and bravery rather than the evil symbolism sometimes attributed to it. The fierce unicorn symbolises the Arab marriage union because of the horse, as well as bravery, and purity, for the unicorn it is to be remembered is a symbol of purity and can be only caught by a virgin.

I plan to do a city journal on this, too, but in the meantime here is this and give your own flags and any brief explenation.

EDIT: Yes, I am using the Berlin map from the original game. Thus the name.

Joe90: Those coats of arms are stunning - did you do the whole design for each one?

Pretty much. Everything is there for a reason.

Wonderful flags. I just love flags, especially yours Joe. It rings with everything European. Here is my new one. I have abdoned my old project and have begun a new Republic of Thorland, a small repulic on the land mass of Iceland. Same idea, founded after World War III and similar history of the war, but this is a mixed government with a Don elected for life, an aristocracy, and a lower house. Here is the flag.

<a%20href=ThorlandStandard.jpg">

Latin words at top mean the Republic stands for liberty and truth and the motto at the bottom, a common one in nations, is simple: That unless we are united for common good, we will fall divided.

S.P.Q.T is of course like S.P.Q.R with the Roman Republic, and stands for the Senate and the People of Thorland in this case.

The coat of arms represents the Nordic history of the country though these newcomers are not Norse.

These flags are from my new City Journal, Zouérat Islamic Federation.

Zouérat Islamic Federation is an alliance of different Islamic nations and has a flag to represent the Federation (similar to how the EU has a flag).

The Calistan Protectorate, an Annex of Her Majesty's Illium Empire.

calistan_flag_113.jpg

And a decorative version

calistan_flag_decorative_copy_198.jpg

The Red field behind the Eagle symbolizes the blood shed of the forefathers of this nation and the strength that the bloodshed has brought to the nation.

The black slash symbolizes the fortitude and strength of the Calistan Protectorate, that stands clear and strong against the bloodred background.

The Black field, separated from the rest by the white divided line, with the Illium Empire's National Symbol is to show that the the this nation is a Protectorate of Her Majesty's Illium Empire. The white line is divided to symbolize the connections of the Empire and the Protectorate, but remains to show that the protectorate is still a sovereign nation.

The white eagle symbolizes the power, resolution and sovereignty of the Calistan Protectorate. (can anyone spot the irony?)

The Olive Branch was only just recently added, signifying the peace that stands between The Illium Empire and the Calistan Protectorate, but remains red to symbolize the significant losses incurred in the the war.
