You're very impatient, you know that?...

Gee thanks for your rudeness. This is a discussion forum, not a commercial technical support desk. You may need to wait for a bit before someone comes along who can and wants to answer your question. Being polite helps with the second of these. Waiting 24-48 hours is not unexpected, so please be patient and don't bump your threads. Also please speak to others politely and respectfully, as listed in the rules that you agreed to when you became a member of this site.

    Thanks.

    Edit:

I have Gmax to support it, and it shows that.

Actually it doesn't. It says 3DSMax which is a completely different piece of software. It looks like you may have installed the wrong software somewhere along the way, so how about backing up a bit and explaining exactly what you've done to get to this point. Then someone may be able to help you.

All I did was download Gmax, the library that came with it, as well as the tutorial, and the help program. Perhaps it had to do with the buffer I used? I used the direct 3D. But I don't know.

Where did you download it from? What website and link?

You've obviously missed one or more important steps in the sequence so could you please list them very clearly because it is difficult to understand from your description what is happening. For example:

    1. I am using a (PC/Mac) with (WindowsXP/Vista/whatever the mac OS is these days). I am using (
    SC4
    Vanilla/Rush Hour/Deluxe)

    2. I read these instructions here: (link) which said to....

    3. I went to this site here: (link) and downloaded this file: (name), and installed it to here: (folder on computer) using the installer. I registered here: (site) and received the registration code by email and entered it as instructed.

    4. Then I went to this site here: (link) and downloaded this file: (name) and installed it to here: (folder on computer) using the installer. I registered here: (site) and entered the registration code given by email.

    5. Then I ...

    etc

    Thanks

    1. I have PC with Windows XP, I play SC4 Deluxe. (Not that it changes anything anyways)

    2. I read instructions on turbosquid.com which said to download gmax and the other files (that I mentioned on the previous post)

    3. I went to www.turbosquid.com/gmax to download Gmax and the other files and installed it in D:/gmax. I registered at the same site to recieve the registration code.

    4. Then I used the registration code to gain access to Gmax and it asked me which buffer I should use. So I chose Direct 3D.

    5. So Gmax is well functional, and I try out BAT. And It shows me this pop up.

Did you install the BAT after gmax? Did you try running gmax before you installed the BAT? Did it work until BAT was installed? Are you sure you got the BAT plugin for gmax and didn't accidentally get the one for 3DS max? (This wouldn't have happened if you got it at the official SC4 site, only if you got it from here or another fan site, as some also have the 3ds max plugin)

Are you sure you are clicking on the correct icon (you don't wan't the gmax icon, you want the BAT icon).

There was some kind of problem with BAT for some users and they needed to apply some extra files to it. The details should be on the official BAT page on the official website, but I can't remember the exact details of the problem.

I think there are also some instructions for correctly configuring gmax in the Omnibus. What was the other choice when you chose Direct 3d?

I would have, but it told me to install gmax first. So I ran gmax, it still works even after I installed BAT. I'm sure I got the plugin for gmax, otherwise the file types would have not had the gmax icon on them. I was clicking the BAT icon.

The other choices were HEIDI, which made u pick either software Z buffer, or custom driver, then theres OpenGL, then theres custom.

I have no idea what I'm missing though. The popup just tells me '3DSMAX'. That doesn't help..

Posting over an over again wont get your questions answered faster, and it is rude espiclly if you do it again after specifically being told not to.

It's not like I have a choice. It's either that or my topic gets sent to page 52 in no time. [comment deleted] Show some empathy before you call someone rude.

You do not have sc4 installed. Your Sc4 plugin directory should be in C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Plugins\ 3ds max is a completely different program than gmax. If you want the BAT to run, download the BAT from http://www.simcity.ea.com/index.php (find the download link) and install it AFTER gmax is installed. Do this in order, you will be fine. 3ds max will not let you on after about 30 days because you downloaded it, so just uninstall it and use gmax.

I can't say for certain as i haven't had that error before but maybe

it has something to do with selecting direct 3d i think the default

is open gl(i forgot which is the default)that i found seems the

best option, try a reinstall & see if you can get it to work, but leave

the default in place whatever it is.

It probably isn't that but it looks like something didn't install right

so it's best to try a reinstall if you haven't already.
