Map refuses to render!?!?!?!?!

Ok, I downloaded this map from ST-Exchange (Yokio Bay) and when I try to render it nothing happens. Here are the dimensions of  the map and config:

Yokio Bay.jpeg-             3073 x 1921

Config.bmp-             48 x 30

I think it might be the ratios. I even reinstalled the game to see if something was corrupted with the game.

Thanks to anyone who figures out the problem..

The dimensions look okay. But without knowing what you did, it's hard to say what went wrong.

How long did you wait? A region that size may take a hour or more to render.

Did you make sure that your screensaver did NOT engage while the rendering was taking place? If it did, you'll end up with a flat, grass-only region.

What exactly did you do to try to get it to render?

Try re-downloading the two files and putting them in the Region's folder again. However make sure that the .ini configuration file is deleted from that folder. I think it is usually called region.ini

Then start the game up and try to render again using Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R and all that stuff.

Kwill95: That almost always means you didn't install the required config.bmp file. Any map that is not 1024x1024 pixels in size needs a config.bmp. Creators should supply this on their STEX uploads, but you have to download it from the link that says config.bmp for each map. You then need to install it to the folder for the region before you render the map.

MonkeyMan09: I can't find any map on the STEX called Yokio bay. Could you please provide a link to the map that you can't get to work, otherwise it is very difficult to help you without being able to see the map.

The most likely cause of this problem is that the map is in 16.7 million colours. SC4 requires the map to be 256 greyscale, but without being able to see the map file I don't know if this is the problem or not. If it is then you can fix it using a graphics editor.

I have downloaded beachside from the stex and it doesn't render.  I get no error messages but nothing happens except a region.ini file is generated.  I did resize the downloaded grayscale file and created a config.bmp file.  Just to check, my config.bmp file is 54 x 38 adn the details.jpg greayscale file is 3457 x 2433.  I think I did the math right.
