Hey everyone! As I lay out my sunken highway, it does not let me drag the highway over the lots.

Whats wrong?

Thanks,

you have to make sure there is enough ground between sea level and gorund level. If the sunken was 20m deep and you are only 16m above sea level you cannot sink!

I would say that. I can see that that is at sea level. Hence the container port.

Solution: Spend your week deleting everything and raising the level of everything else, making it the lowest. Joking, do not do that.

i just had an idea howabout you raise the land between the avenues and the use a 15m digger lot to make your highway (and then put walls on the slopes)

Thanks a lot guys! As you can see, I am working on an industrial port. I will remove everything and raise that terrain a little more.

I'd say you just should make a ground highway it looks like you have enough room.

Another tip, besides having the elevation high enough for you to use the hole digging lots, is that you don't actually use the highway to make a sunken highway.

Select the 'hole_digger_sunken' lot, map out with the lots whereabouts you want the highway to go and then drag a ROAD across the lots. Once you've done that, you can drag another road beside the one you just did to make the sunken part 2 tiles wide, delete the roads, and presto.. you have your set-up.

Most of the lots included in the hole digging set are for making tunnel entrances easier to achieve. Therefore, the 'sunken highway' lot we can see in your picture is actually used to help make highway tunnels.

I am pretty sure there is a basic tutorial on all this in the readme.

Best thing you can do in this situation is to make a raised higway. I consider this the best option in a seaport.

Because, indeed: a sunken highway or any sunken area is not possible under water.

I think a container dock should remain just above sea level... Make some experiments to find the deepest possible level. Build a flat area on that level, about 4 tiles wide. Use the ground lifter to build ramps for overpasses. Perhaps build some rail tracks to make the slopes to the avenues soft. If you like, use this technique to build walls and soft slopes all along the highway. Finally prepare the ground for the highway, build the highway. Use the ramps for overpasses or build overpasses on the slopes along the highway. Good luck.

Ignoring that the thread is a month old and the problem has probably been resolved by now, has anyone notice he's using the wrong hole digging lots?

He's placed the ones for making tunnels, not for sunken, there's another lot that allows you to make sunken stuff, but it's near the top of the list of lots in the menu, and you drag a road through the lot in order for it to work. It's near the ground lifter that's also in the menu.
