No stories probably, just want some feed back on pictures.

I'll probably add some story-ness and I'll definitely add close-ups here in a second.

thanks for all your comments thus far. I feel like a lot is expected: this city is very utilitarian. I'm from Houston, and it's really all I know. Massive freeways (cept for the ones that NEED to be more massive-er 3.gif ) spiraling out from a center of town, with loops, and teed-off motorists, and no zoning. my city has more zoning than houston, but I think I'll make some of the areas more like houston, where there are, very often, shops inside single-family unit houses, next to an apartment complex, next to a quadruplex, next to a commercial mid-rise, next to a bar.

    AND FORGET RAIL TRANSIT 3.gif

I am most proud that almost all miles of freeway have feeder roads, except for when you get downtown, which is currently very ugly, and has too many of the same buildings. I made this city mainly to toy with a ridiculously huge and kind of unorthodox (for sim city 4) freeway system.

Not bad! That constant sloping on the loop is intense though, might want to convert it all to elevated highway.

Oh, boy. Your loop is quite well done, but one thing: Way too much building repetition! You either need to vary the maxis buildings or get yourself some custom content, in my opinion.

However, it's still a really good start.

I totally agree on the whole varied buildings thing. I love it in some parts of town (like the 3 x Y streets at the bottom left) but ...ugh, my downtown looks stupid because of it.

thanks. I wanted to build something that replicated the way freeways are in my city. there's a lot of up and down around my parts, but it's not as noticeable in real life (for one, I dont know much different) and the slopes are less abrupt.  the freeways usually slope down to meet the feeders at the entrance and exits, except for some of our braided entrances.

this is the area just west of downtown, characterized by a large city park to the northwest, and the interchange between the East-West freeway and the West side of the loop. As you can see, it's heavily residential, and only recently has the industrial companies moved in. I wanted to make this a mainly residential/commercial area, so that may change. But with lax zoning laws, the companies go where demand is..even if that's next to the schools.

Thank you for the comments everyone. To note, I am using a few money makers.

This is one of the southwestern areas of town, just southwest of Downtown. I wanted to make it an industrial area so that the residential-heavy areas to the north and south and west will have a steady fill of jobs.

This is the main layout for it. The freeways in the area are Loop 525 and Southwest Freeway (SH 120)

The next picture shows some of the infrastructure that this area will be providing to the other areas. I'm shifting power plants to this area for the residential areas. Downtown (NW adjacent) has it's own solar arrays.

This one shows the small residential (small. haha) area.

    And finally, the industrial growth

Nice grid! Although, I do not like the three power plants. The cheat to disable power supply is "fightthepower". Also, try to get some custom content on the industrial and I do not like the diagonal area also. Looking out for the improvements!

This is a suburban area south by southwest from downtown. It's called Aston Fields. It's just off the beltway and Farm-to-Market Road 2224

Aston Fields is its own city, but works under an Extraterritorial Jurisdiction agreement with Travis, TX.
