@PhilsCafe: Wlelcome back in my humble CJ. Glad you like my industrials, honestly I a m never satisfied with them ... And Ploce, well after quite a long time only low rise I thought some mids would be nice, too ...

@MissTonya: First Welcome in my CJ! Allways nice to see new faces! About you missing a theme: Hmmm, that's difficult. I have some ideas in my mind how to develope this region, I might change them if there some nice BATs / lots on the STEX worth stressing them which is hard because there are so much of them. Actually my intention was developing a nice looking rural area after I made quite a lot ugly highrise regions... Have to think this over!

@All: Just two votes for my poll?????

Hi. Loving your countryside. You'll be dissapointed with the detail in mine when get to some, I think, because my focus is making it all pretty and rustic and not really very functonal. Thanks for posting and bringing me over for a look at your cj.

    Hi, Nardo.

I've just stumbled across your CJ and must say I am quite interested in your development.  What I've seen so far looks very nice and has developed wonderfully.  I certainly will be tracking this CJ to see how you develop this quite interesting region.

I see you are using the map NWCRDN  by flamesrock .  That is a great map.  I've a question to ask you concerning it.  I'm a relative newcomber to SC4 (Christmas, 2004) and am still getting my building legs.  So far, I've been experimenting with the Lot Editor, building towns/villages/cities to see how they come out, rendering maps and modifying them and playing with terraforming.

FINALLY, I'm ready to pick a map and start to develop a region.  I have my map, named my region Aetheria and am close to starting my CJ.  THEN, I found your CJ and now have a concern.  I, too, have chosen to use NWCRDN as my region map.  I will mention that I've edited/terraformed it quite a bit so, even though it is still recognizable as NWCRDN, it is definitely different.

My concern is this:  You've already started a CJ using this map while mine is still very much in the planning stages.  Would you prefer that I not use the NWCRDN map and use a different one?  If you would like, I can post a picture of what my map looks like or send it to you privately or, if it would be okay with you, I will just go ahead and use my modified version of NWCRDN.

Please let me know what you'd like me to do, okay?

Again, Nardo, your CJ looks to be very promisng and I will enjoy tracking it.

    Regards,

    Vandy

P.S.  I'm one of the old ones as well although have never played any of the older SC games.  Instead, when I was in High School ( 1964 - 1968 ), my friend and I use to create worlds on paper and then create countries with mountains, rivers, swamps, etc.  In the countries, we would create towns (dots on the paper) and form alliances with neighboring countries as well as sign treaties, etc.  Inevitably, war would break out and our erasers seem to be ever busy realigning borders, wiping out towns, creating new countries, etc.  For me, coming to SC4 has been like coming home only with steroids!

In the end you will see, You is you and me is me.

    Hello to All!!

I have good and bad news for you:

The good one: I am back home so you can wait for the next update!!! 48.gif29.gif

The bad one: I couldn't increase my RAM due to several reasons. This means I still have to work with my poor 512 megs. Due to this I have to remove some BATS - mainly NDEX stuff - not because they are bad, they are very good but at the moment they don't fit in this CJ. This means the capital city has to wait a bit - sorry Kwakelaar... 15.gif45.gif8.gif

@P_mcgough: Don't make yourself bad!! I like what you made until now, as I posted here . Everyone plays a different style, that's why I like to watch other CJ!2.gif

@GingerBlokey: Thanx for the compliment and nice to see you here! Hope you like what is following!!

@rooker1: Welcome back here and thanx for the compliment!

@newyorkrunaway1: Well, when I started this region I found out this is the style I like most ....

    @Vandy: Wow, long post! 10.gif
First of all thanx for the compliment and for giving credit fo flamesrock. I downloaded a lot of maps until I found this one to start my CJ and it is definately a wonderful one! But as you mentioned I did not make it so I don't feel that I had the monopol to use this map. Feel free to publish your CJ (but please PM me since I am always interested in other peoples' CJs and yes, I am also interested in some early pics!!! 2.gif29.gif)

@all: Have fun! Next update is to come in the next days!

Nardo, I have to admit that until just now I've just been skimming your journal but haven't really read it closely. Now that I've gone back and read everything and looked closely at the pictures, I have to say that it looks really great. Of course you have a great propensity to build rural areas, but I also like the commercial/industrial area in Gr

Well, the capital has to wait until I can reinstall some of the NDEX skyscrapers - I had to remove them since my pc has really slow and I couldn't upgrade my RAM as I mentioned before. That means: The next big developement will be B with some industrial and Simgoobers Kanals.

@oroen: One of the reasons why I began this region was that my pc began to slow down and I thought it might be a good idea to make a rural and low rise area, heavily inspired by Digby. The longer I made this the more I loved the rural aspect of it. But of course a bigger town (not too big of course) shouldn't be missed. I hope you like the following update!)

    ploce801jpg6bp.jpg
    Pic 8.1
An overall view over Ploce. Some years ago I made holiday in a small village on the peninsula Peljesac in Croatia, not far away from the small harbour town Ploce, to be found quite in the middle between Split and Dubrovnik (If you haven't been in Dubrovnik go there if you have the chance! It is a really wonderful town!!!). The map of this town reminded me of the shape of the peninsula so I gave this town the name Ploce.

    ploce802jpg8qx.jpg
    Pic 8.2
The end of the peninsula. On this Pic you can see the (younger) gothic St Johannes and the (older) romanesk Heiliggeistkirche (Church of the holy Ghost). St Johannes was allways the main church of the town whereas Heiliggeistkirche is a remain of a monaster than was closed during reformation. The other buildings of the monaster disappeared over the centuries whereas the Heiliggeistkirche became a sign of the town.

A closer view on the main station and the car ferry. Ploce lies on the shore of the river Renus not far away from the place where Renus goes to the sea. Because of this Renus is quite deep and bridges are hard to build. So a powerful network of passenger and car ferries had been established in between the few bridges over the river.

    Hello to All!!

Since I let you wait for an update for so long during my holiday and I have some time today I thought I could make a second update this week .... 31.gif48.gif...

    But before:

Traffic_Jam: WOW! Fast update - not yet 90 sec after my update! I hope you like the next one too!!!

Deathtoall: In fact Ploce is (or more exactly will be) a suburb of the capital of Urland. Thing is I just didn't began that (bigger) town since I couldn't upgrade may RAM. Even though I changed CPU, motherboard and upgraded my PC two years ago only for SC4 it lags like (*..*) ... Anyway Ploce has not yet 20K res because of this I put suburbs and downtowns in between ... 2.gif

jacqulina: Allways nice to meet you! B is good choice, I already began the preparation for it yet it has no name. As I said on the very beginning of this Cj, I am a slow player ...

But now it is time for

    Update Nr. 9

    ploce908gy.jpg
    Pic 9.0
A general overview over Ploce. As you can see it is still quite rural. We saw in last update the center of ploce, now let's go to the smaller houses. The seddlement on the other side of the river Renus is still under developement.

    ploce911wg.jpg
    Pic 9.1
The entrance with the football of Ploce F.C. BTW Mr. Schlaubauer hates Ploce since last football season - on the very last day 1.SC Hochstadt played here in Ploce. Before the game, 1.SC Hochstadt was on rank2 going up to Kreisliga A whereas Ploce was on rank 16 going down to Kreisliga C. Ploce won 5:0 and now both Clubs are again in Kreisliga B ...

    ploce929ff.jpg
    Pic 9.2
The Dorf (village). Those who can afford it (or allways lived here) move there. All buildings low rise and ground became quite expensive. You can see the tennis field of T.C. Ploce too. Allthough they are quite close to P.F.C. they have completely different clients...

    ploce938hh.jpg
    Pic 9.3
The Monument for the death of the World Wars and the protestantic Christuskirche. It is the only protestantic church since Ploce is 80% roman katholic. Even so the graveyard is quite noisy due to the main road to Hochdorf it is the most expensive graveyard in Ploce.

    ploce943yt.jpg
    Pic 9.4
The trunk road along the river Renus. Again the people who live here aren't quite poor ...

    ploce954nw.jpg
    Pic 9.5
The industrial spot. It turned to I-HT quite recently... 48.gif. The railway station is a japanese. BTW all industrials here are growable!

And of couse, where it is rural there are some small village to be discoverd in this CJ:

    ploce979ps.jpg
    Pic 9.6
Behind the industrial spot it becomes rural again. Air pollution is quite low in Ploce that's why you can find the acres next to the industrial. And again a small village.

    ploce981ka.jpg
    Pic 9.7
The main road to Hochdorf. I love how this small spot turned out ... 43.gif

    That's all for today ...
    BTW: my 300rd post 39.gif

    Have Fun!!!

Great update! I love all the history you added to it, makes it seem as if it all truly happened...

Great rural overview as well, I like the rolling hills and the river winding through them. Keep it up!

    Hello, Nardo.

I see you've been busy developing your region.  It looks quite nice -- I espcially like your rural settings.

Ploce is very nice looking.  I do believe you've captured the look and feel of a small town along the river/bay very nicely.  It has a very nice old world feel about it and your rural district has developed wonderfully.

I am enjoying your journal immensely and look forward to your continued updates.

    Regards,

    Vandy

PS I haven't forgotten to e-mail you the picture of Aetheria -- just haven't had the time to do it yet.

In the end you will see, You is you and me is me.

It's been a while since I've last posted in here (sorry for that). Ploce turned out very good (it was a good decision to stick on this town, btw).

The mid-rises fit well into that rural environment. Every rural area has an urban center, where the agricultural produces are sold. And Polce is an excellent example for that. I wouldn't mind if you even extended that urban area. Maybe some more low density houses would soften the transition from mid-rise to agricultural a bit more.

However, you're doing a great job with this CJ. Keep it up.

    - Phil

@PhilsCafe: First of all: Welcome back 48.gif!
About extending the urban area: Actually Ploce is an old town at the outskirts of the biggest town in the area which I haven't begun yet due to a lack of RAM and/or too much plugins - I guess about 1 Gig plugins is a bit too much for 512 meg RAM ... 41.gif34.gif. The mix of midrise and rural will continue to its neighbour Herpringen which has developed great in the last days and became a possible candidate after Ploce, Schilfstadt and Grünthalhausen (see Update 7) fpr this CJ - so stay tuned!! 2.gif

@Pinchman: Thanks for the compliment! The only windmills I use (but these quite often ...29.gif) are gshmails rural windmills - they are two within one pacl. Not only they look really fine, they produce also a not too big amount of electricity for a reasonable price, perfect for a small rural community16.gif! You can find them here: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=2293

    @All: Have Fun!

WOW! How could I have missed this for so long? It is so sweet! I like what you have done to the countryside, but especially like Ploce. It is so realistic! Are you planning any airports in the near future? I will certainly planning to keep on eye on your CJ now!

    Hello to All!!

It may sound incredible - who had thought this when I started about two months ago? We are going to have the second digit in the update number and, I stil can't believe this, more than 2200 views by now!!!! 25.gif

I just want to say thank you for your support! As long as RL don't interfere too much I will continue this small little CJ for you! 19.gif

    But before the update:

@Pinchman: For the windmill: You are always welcome! If I can help I'll do! 19.gif: For tracking this CJ: WOW! Thanks a lot! 43.gif

@Deathtoall: No problem, my friend. It is just - I am a slow player. Everything needs its time in my region besides the fact that my pc became quite slow because of all that nice plugins ... 45.gif. I just hope you like how this continues!

@jacqulina: Thanks for the compliment my friend. About the speed: I totally agree!

@PhilsCafe: For this wek a last poke on Ploce but we will see a new town next update! 2.gif

@bienefeldt: Welcome to my humble CJ! And thank you for the compliment! 43.gif. About the airports ... at the moment there is no airport at all in the region but I guess in the next future I will add at least the small ingame airfield to some cities - especially when I am going to begin to build on the big island. A big airport .. well, honestly, I don't like airports to much so I ahven't installed any airport packs at all but I think I should do it for the capital - or is there any fast railway connection to Lentbury ?? 2.gif

    But here it is!

For the first with a two-digit number: 39.gif39.gif

    Update Nr. 10

In the last update I told you that the small village on the other side is still under construction. Well, it is still - like all of my other cities - but I had some nice hours developing it after I found BarbyW's BLS Small Hotels1 BSC made with the wonderful Gascooker BATs. But yes, you have to download the BATS (I just say: dependency list49.gif) and you should install the newest BSC essentials , upgraded 31st July, otherwise the query might not work.

But here is an overview of our today's place to visit:

    ploce10004lu.jpg
    Pic 10.0
A general overview. As I told you no bridge crossing the river Renus.
40 years earlier in the first half of the 60ies the Renus was a brown, ugly, stinking cloaca (right word for german Kloake???) due to all the industry up the river. Then, beginning in the late 70ies / early 80ies environment protecting programs begin to show success and since 1995 it is possible again to take a bath in the river. Since this time Sandhausen begin to develope from a sleepy village to a lively place to stay a weekend or a week.

    ploce10018ie.jpg
    Pic 10.1
An overview over Sandhausen. It is connected to Ploce by a carferry and by the RFT (Renus Fluss Taxi = Renus River Taxi) that connects the villages at the side of the river Renus. If you don't like ferries, well, the next bridge is in Kap Martin, and you need more than 1 hr by bus or car to avoid a nice 15 min ferry trip for just 5,-

Vow, Nardo! Your farmland is looking good, very good! Very realistic. Streams and red leaves give it a nice touch. I am fascinated you named your city Ploce - how come? I am from Croatia 2.gif

I expected even more railways ( you now what I mean 2.gif

After seeing your CJ I decidet to download those walls you've got and the red trees. I also love the road bridging the railways - where did you get it? Is it from the NAM!? I didn't install the NAM because someone said it wouldn't work with 512mb - what do you think?

    Keep the snapshots coming!
