These farms look great. I'm workin' on a farming town right now and it is so difficult to let it look good (as you already said before). Your CJ will be quite an inspiration...

Well done and keep it up.

    Hello to All!!

    2nd week - 2nd update - 2nd page ... wow! 39.gif

@petriknl: Nice to see you here in my CJ. Hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed yours!!! 29.gif

@Iknowu: This time less farms but a bit of industry and small woods - hope you like it too ... 19.gif

@PhilsCafe: If you like this CJ go there: Digby . He's the master, I am only the pupil ... but anyway: I'm glad you like mine 2.gif

    Now let's come to

    Update Nr. 2

This morning, saturday, around 4:30 am my phone was ringing.

    Nardo69: *Yawn* morni ...
What the (*censored*) do you (*censored*) think you are, you (*censored*)!
Nardo69: Mr. Schlaubauer, it is half past four in the ...
I know (*censored*) the time! I just saw your pics on www.simtropolis.com AND I DIDN't SAW MY FIELDS!!!!! WHERE IS MY FOOTBALL FIELD, AND WHERE IS MY BASEBALL FIELD????
Nardo69: Mr Schlaubauer, this must be a mistake. I am sure it is on the p...
I watched EVERY (*censored*) picture and I did NOT see them. WHY do you (*censored*) think I paid them for you?? And who did pay your bills at Lappers??? TOMORROW NIGHT I WILL SEE MY FOOTBALL FIELD OR YOU (*censored*) CAN LOOK FOR ANOTHER MAYOR'S OFFICE!!!
    *clack*

    47.gif
    Outch!

Since I like being mayor here and because I want you continue this CJ (did he really mentioned the Lappers ???? [:0]) I am going to show the east end of Neustadt ....
    hochst3011it.jpg
    Pic 2.1
An overview over the area. It was empty in update Nr. 1. There has been a Costco, a BestBuy and a gasstation seddled down at the intersection of the main road with the road to the small industrial district.

    hochst3026kr.jpg
    Pic 2.2
Here you can see the football and the baseball field of the SV Neustadt. Due to an anonymous donation and an unexpected surplus in the city's finances they could be build 6 weeks before the last mayor's election day. 10.gif
The small building in the woods is The Templke of The Well. I downloaded this a long time ago. It's not only beautiful but also useful: it clears up air pollution ... 44.gif

    hochst3038jg.jpg
    Pic 2.3
The Costco and the Bestbuy. I think I have to learn how to use the LE since I have no nice greens for the left and right side of a street ina poor / rural area30.gif. These are marrast medium wealth greens, they are nice but they don't fit in here (at least better than any other greens I have ...)

    hochst3043md.jpg
    Pic 2.4
The entrance of the industrial district with a bus station and parking lots.

    hochst3056ak.jpg
    Pic 2.5
The railway station with the energy and waste facilities at the industrial district. It shoulbd be bigger, I know, with rails running between the factory but as the industry came quite late it was to late and too difficult to lay tracks. That's way they carrying theit cargo to the freight station.

    That's it for today.

    Have Fun!!

Good work, I like your farms. I usually build farms with large fields but I'm considering building them smaller now, they look great!!!

    Hello To All!!

@andrew george: I really appreciate it your comments. About the size of the farms: this is directly bound to where I am coming from. Maybe you know that Germany was a patchwork of small, smaller and smallest kingdoms, counties and shires - some of them just one or two villages big. Depending on how many people could live from a farm it was a different habit to give to the next generation: if the ground was good it was mostly shared amongst the suns (daughters were married to other farmers or became nuns in catholic areas) which is more to be found in southern Germany whereas if the ground wasn't good enough in a way that you need a lot of graound to maintain a farm the farm was given completely either to the oldest or the youngest sun (daughters see above49.gif).
Where I come from the ground was shared so the fields are rather small. It impossible to build these farms because the houses were usually in villages (better cover against wild animals and robbery but not against marauding armies) and the fields were outside the villages. You won't hardly see one farm with the buildings at the fields like in SC4.
So I am seeking a good compromise between the game and my home county ... 5.gif

@mtbrocketHey, I like your railways! Later in that CJ you'll see more railways, hope you like them 2.gif38.gif

@All: Now that was quite texty ... 23.gif. Next time it'll be a full imaged update, promise!!!! 10.gif

I like the layout of your villages and rural areas, but that industrial zone out in the corner seems a bit crude, other then that it looks great.

    Hello to All!!

Time for update Nr. 3. But before that ...

@Kwakelaar: Well, I am not completely with it - or more to say with almost all of my industrial areas ... 15.gif8.gif ... Gotta work it over again I think. Thing is: To keep I-Ag - Demand high there is not one single educational school, library etc. in this whole area untill now. This means also no demand for I-Ht which would look better ....

btw: From now on I will give numbers to the pics ... 49.gif

    Update Nr. 3

Let's stay a bit more in Hochstadt before we move to another town next update. Last Time we started in Neustadt and followed the railway line to Waldau. Let's now finish this journey and look to the section of the railway line after Waldau and before Altstadt.

    Here's an overview:

    hochst405qs.jpg
    Pic 3.1
We're coming from the left upper corner from Neustadt / Waldau, following the railway line making its way through Weissenkirchdorf with its small railway station and then passing next to Altstadt - Waldh

I think you are treating your industrial areas with less finesse than your res/com areas, and that is probably why they don't match the rest of your CJ. But again it is not at all that bad.
Something else that I am noticing is that many of your res.lots seems to have no overlay textures and few or none props, is that meant to be so, or is something wrong with them?
    Your villages look really great!

PS No more problems with Mr. Schlaubauer I hope.

@Kwakelaar: Regarding to the industrial area, yes, I think you are right. I really should spend more time on them 34.gif... About the missing probs: Well, especially after installing the new BSC EP farms I spend a whole saturday downloading dependancies 41.gif... When I began downloading about a year again or so I installed only Lots that appeared without loading ANY dependancies ... so yes I am sure some props are missing ...15.gif

edit: Mr Schlaubauer didn't rang me out of bed in early morning since then so I guess he is pleased by now ... 2.gif

I know the problem. I also started out with only downloading Lot's without dependencies, but lately I have started just downloading all proppacks that comes out, which is working out quite well.
Though my loteditor propmenu is kind of crowded and difficult to navigate.
    Looking forward to next update.

The farms and their layout are looking great Nardo.  Very nice job.  I also like your placement and variation in rail stations.  They seem to fit perfectly with their surroundings.  Great Job.

Good one Nardo, I really like pic 3.2 with the cluster of little houses near the church. And in pic 3.8 I've noticed that blue train station! is it on the STEX or is it a japanese bat?

Anyhow great work, keep it up.

    Hello to All!!

@jacqulina: I'll do my to keep you pleased with the next updates!

@Kwakelaar:I guess I really should follow your advice do the same with the MegaPropPacks since lately I got that brown boxes again ... 45.gif When I see them I feel like a complete $%&^! .. (see beginning of this CJ ... )

@captain_cookie: The regional shots are these big icons at the beginning of the cj. I haven't released new ones since regarding to this CJ nothing important has changed (and what has changed isn't yet to be revealed ... 38.gif2.gif

@dhoppeii: Thanx for the compliment! About the railway station I have to say I planned some of them earlier IRL plus I love railways! That's why you are going to find some of them in Urland

@Darmok: I love this spot too, one of my favorite places in Hochstadt. The blue railway station is quite handy for medium traffic since it handles 5000 sims and has busstop included. It is a japanese lot a dl'ed some time ago. I found it it in the aithon directory in my japan downloads, maybe that helps you ...

    @all: Have Fun!

    Nardo

PS: I numbered the older pics too!

41.gif1.gif. There are some more nice to spots to see in Hochstadt but I need to work on them. It is like IRL, the general layout needs waaaaay less time than working out the detail - but the layout with the detail isn't working ...

    And here is

    Update Nr. 4

So let's leave Hochstadt to the west an visit its small neighbour Hochdorf. Hochdorf is to be found at the crossroad of two mayor roads. (As soon as I get my region growing bigger I am going to number them I think ... 34.gif)

    Here is a general overview:

    hochd519kp.jpg

    Pic 4.1

You can see clearly the two crossing roads. And yes, no railway here ... 30.gif

I am not using cyclepoppy's mod now since my pc is lacking some RAM. As soon as I upgrade my RAM I'll install it and go over the woods. But for small stripes of wood I love to use PEG's seasonal woods ... reminds me of home ... 43.gif

    hochd529ho.jpg

    Pic 4.2

The center of Hochdorf: The St Peter church and the gas Station. We are here in a village: there's lots of free space to park your car that's why people do almost everthing by car. And so each Sunday after the service the church goers queue up at the gas station ...

    hochd535oc.jpg

    Pic 4.3

The main road heading north. I love this view ... 36.gif

    hochd542th.jpg

    Pic 4.4

Another detail of that road. I love how the street almost disappears in the trees.I just didn't left enough space to the upper field ... 45.gif

    hochd556sd.jpg

    Pic 4.5

Hochdorf isn't an industrial center but there is a bit as you can see ...

Next update I am going to show you the smaller villages. Untill then:

    Have Fun!!!

I really like how the farms hug the hilly terrain, it's different! Pic, 4.4 is my favorite, the combo dirt trails/farm fences is really good looking.

    Great work!

I don't think I've ever seen such talent in creating a rural farming region. Looks like you put a lot of effort into creating a very senic region. It has a very peaceful country like feel to it. If it were a real place, wouldnt mind living there.

Best of luck with the journal.

Hey Nardo - That more global shot of the area is really nice.  The farming layout looks pretty good.  While I'm not a big fan of placing farms on slopes, I see you still have some of the Maxis farms growing, which conform pretty well.  The look good over the hilly terrain.  The only think I might mention that didn't seem to fit for me was the proximity of the dirty industry to the farms.  Of course this is just a game and you should play the way you want to.  I really do enjoy seeing another rural community here on ST.  Have a great weekend.

    Hello to All!!

@Darmok: Hugging the hilly terrain, I really like this expression ... it fits perfectly!! And as I mentioned in the update, Pic 4.4 is one of my favorites too. Actually it developed like this to keep the farms a bit away from the main road but mixing necessity with beauty also a kind of art, too?

@whiteshark365: Welcome to my humble small CJ! I loved Crystal Junction and your new CJ Iridium City had a great start, too!

@jacqulina: It is a pleasure for me to see you so regularly in my CJ! I'll doing my best to please you further29.gif!

@dhoppeii: Referring to the Maxis farms and fields I must say they are the least critical on hilly terrain (with the exception of Pedriana which doesn't occur so often any more because I uploaded a lot of other stage 3 farms). Especially SimGoobers Sugar and Weat farms, so beautiful they are on flat or almost flat terrain, so critical they are on hilly terrain. I had to (and still have to) do a heck full of terraforming because the farm and the fields destroyed the character of the terrain33.gif. Guess this is the price for making hilly rural areas ... 34.gif
The industry was a bit inspired by the CJ Beruit (really nice one - too bad it cannot be continued ...15.gif ). I limited the industrial to a small spot on the edge for not to have a big impact on the farms.

    But first:

@Mickebear: Well, there will be some small towns in the middle of these fields but no megalopolis - if you look for a nice place in peace you're always welcome!

    but now ....

    hochst511dh.jpg

    Pic 5.1

The Street to the top of the hills leaving the village covered by PEG" woods.="" seasonal="" wonderful="" s="">

    hochst520ur.jpg

    Pic 5.2

Some weeks ago I finally installed these nice wildflower lots. Still bit too colourful butin some the sides of streets can be a bit like them.

    hochst531ee.jpg

    Pic 5.3

The road going to the left side referring to Pic 4.1. I still don't know why I didn't used these wildflowers earlier. Don't they fit nicely with PEG's woods and the hedges?

    hochst540yl.jpg

    Pic 5.4

The small village in the left corner of Pic 4.1. This time I used the Maxi's temple/church/whatsoever as the center of the small village.

When Jeroni released his rural walls I immediately fell in love with them and I still am. None of my hilly regions without them anymore!

    hochst558yj.jpg

    Pic 5.5

That grape farm is one of my favorites. And here its directions points perfectly to the streets.

Isn't that combination of fences and rural walls great, too???

Thats all for today - next time I'll give you a full update again! 19.gif

    Untill then:

    Have fun!

Nardo, you and Dhoppe have a knack to make beautiful rural communities, they look really authentic! And your use of the flower lots is very good, I used them and my only gripes with them is that they are a bit big (the flowers not the lots) but they do ad a bit of color in our CJ's!

    Great one Nardo

    Take care!
