That's a very rosy view of the insurgents / AQI. A lot of the actual footmen are still foreign jihadi thrillseekers and people who place an IED just so they'd get paid $20 for their family. The line between "insurgent" and common thug is very thin.

Not rosy, just vague... I agree not all of them are there to fulfill their own dream of an Iraq without foreign interference, alot of them are there just to generally make life for the coalition difficult and carry out Jihad on the infidels.
