trash on some pieces of landfill refused to go into trash-burning power plant.
i check it and im sure the road is connected to the landfill, the expense of trash transport is sufficient.
i also find in "garbage statistics" that the amount of current garbage is 0.

somebody say if disconnect the road to landfill, the trash will disappear after about 20 years.so i did it as they say,but after 50 years, the dirty just stay and give a negtive effect on land value around there.

is there another way to kill the garbage?

i had a similar trouble with clearing one. i realised that even though i had disconnected any direct roads, there where still trash lorries driving around on the roads nearby. i though "this is odd" and decided to destroy any roads that where within 20 blocks of the landfill. for some reason, the next time i looked at the landfill it was completely empty, and it was a huge landfill aswell. a good 10k worth of coverage. i spend most of the game on fast-forward, so i dono if that contributes.

If the landfill is dezoned not in a square or rectangle, that will activate the "never disappearing landfill bug" when the time simulator is running.

I have been able to get rid of these pesky never diminishing landfills.

First, add more tiles to the landfill and let them fill up. Then let it dezone again.

This sometimes gets rid of them.

Somewhere this problem was described as a problem of how the game calculates the rate of garbage decomposition. The game must use an equation that bases the rate of decomposition on how much garbage was in the landfill (or something there abouts) and if this value is just right the rate will be approximated as 0 and the garbage will stay for ever. So by adding a bit of garbage back this can shake the equation from this fixed point and start decomposing again.

    Hope this helps.

Usually, the last four squares takes forever to decompose. Also, destroy your roads at least 3 tiles away from the landfill so garbage can't get in. Last, trash-incinerator doesn't take trash out of the landfill. You need a new garbage site and let the landfill decompose. I would recommend you the Black Hole Waste Management found on STEX.

I haven't used landfills for years.  Use either the Black Hole Waste Management (see prev reply) or the PEG Garbage Disposal Chute, which you plop at the edge of your city and its dumps the trash over the side.  Both are available on STEX.

OK, I tried eliminating any roads within 3 tiles of my landfill...nothing. I tried turning it into a rectangle, then the thing would say it was filling to full and efficiency would drop to zero even though there was still open space. Very frustrated, so help would be appreciated. I try to avoid downloading, because it slows my compy.

Like I said, the last 4 tiles take the longest to decompose. For my city, I took my 7 decades to make it completely gone. Last thing, NEVER build a landfill, it will ruin your whole city!

If you want to cheat a little, download the Radical Ordinace Mod and activate Landfill Gas Recovery.

the 4 tiles thing is horrific... i once had a city with huge abandonment around the landfills.... it kept me from developing into skyscraper status for a century....

Nooooo!!!! I have a peice of landfill shaped like:

    O X X

where the Xs are landfill occupied by garbage. So obviously, I can never rezone to a rectangle - it's on the very edge of the map!

Is there no way to get rid of it?
