    Deep Thought's Answer
  1. SC4 requirements

Mine runs fine on Core 2 Duo 1.6GHz, 2 GB RAM and 128MB graphics card. All options are set to High, and I have a lot of plugins. But those stats are about "average" for a new desktop computer these days, so I don't think you should go any lower.
  2. Aussie BAT Team?

You might want to look at Deadwood's Aussie Retail Series and other lots too.
  3. ALERT!! Trojan discovered in STEX!!!

AVG Free Version.... lol. My friend had a pile of viruses, etc. on his laptop with no idea until I stuck a thumb drive in it. Then sticking it in my laptop and public computers, I got plenty of warnings. (And they weren't false positives either). My anti-virus blocked the programs before they ran. Then after cleaning everything off it, his laptop stopped working. So he reinstalled Windows and went back to using AVG Free again.... The other two seem well recommended though. Problem with Norton is that it's been too dumbed-down and simplistic, and goes overboard on minor things.
  4. SC4 on XP with SP3

I have XP SP3 and SC4 runs fine. A little slower to startup, most likely cause of the newly updated huge plugins folder. Been using hardware mode all the time. However, you may have a point with memory leaks. I've found on my laptop (with Vista) that occasionally SC4 doesn't quit. You exit it, but if you go to Task Manager, the process for it is still running. A better thing would be to make sure your drivers are compatiable with XP SP3. Try running Windows Update to search for updated drivers. If it performs well on software, but not hardware mode, there's probably a graphics card driver issue. If it really is an issue, you should be able to uninstall SP3 and go back to SP2 by uninstalling it Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
  5. Nup, no issues on my computer with a Core 2 Duo either.
  6. Mods

There's the Super Demand Mod - raises demand many times higher than usual. In an empty city, this lead to me growing R$ stage 8 buildings straightaway, though the resulting influx of residents completely overwhelmed city services. Railway addons: Pegasus has a mod on his site (simpeg.com) that removes or limits the dirt texture on the railways. There's the electric railway mod (thanks to who helped me find that!), that will allow you to place power lines over rail. For roads (and streets), there's the Street Addon Mod, or you could try Trolca's dirt road mod. Both place custom textures on streets. Sorry there's no links. My Internet is running on dialup cause I went over my download, and is extremely slow.
  7. DEDWD JB HiFi Store

Maybe should have used a different building than the same as Officeworks & Spotlight, but excellent nonetheless!
  8. DEDWD Officeworks Store

Officeworks is an awesome store, and you've done an awesome job! Great work!
  9. Bunnings Warehouse

Not a bad effort, certainly looks like the real thing!
  10. Chilis

Excellent work! You bring "real" real life into our cities! Girl84: You need the EP1 update for Rush Hour from the main SimCity 4 site, then you need to install the EP2 update from the BAT page to see lighting from custom buildings.
  11. Sonic Drive In

Your real-life stores are extremely detailed! Very good job!
  12. Modern Rail Bridge by jeronij

How come there is coloured patches on both ends of the bridge?
  13. Region not showing up when I change config.

Were you using Windows Vista? Vista's Paint's "blue" colour is NOT the same as as XP Paint's "blue" colour, or the one that SC4 needs. So if you (or anyone) ever need to try again, remember to set the custom colours in Vista's Paint. Glad your problem was fixed.
  14. Region not showing up when I change config.

You probably already did this, but anyway. Open the config.bmp in Paint. Zoom in to the highest level. Choose the blue colour (RGB value has to be 0,0,255. Go to Colours > Edit Colours, then click the Define Custom Colours button to be sure) And large city areas have to be blue, 4 pixels long by 4 pixels wide. You can turn on the grid in Paint by gonig to View > Zoom > Show Grid if it helps. Try adding it a few "cities" at a time. Just ahve the one blue area. Then add three more on the edges. Repeat until you have a 24x32. Alternatively, you can PM me with an e-mail address. I created a 24x32 config.bmp file and tested it. It worked perfectly in a new region.
  15. Judging from the news ticker, some neighbour connection by road (and rail, avenue, highway, etc. if you have them) would also relieve some demand caps and hopefully create mroe demand.
