Fantastic update! You made some really nice use of PEG's plazas. I've just began to experiment with them, and boy are they great! Again, wonderful update!

Paths and parks really shape cities. That is particularly true for Joburg! Great usage of the sandstone (brick) paths to match the textures of the plaza lots. I always like to see someone try their best to make an area look really nice by making everything blend in as smoothly as possible. St. Erica's Cathedral is a good centerpiece for the area. Lastly, that is an awesome overview shot at the end! The overhanging building is cool. 4.gif

Oh yes, people always try to rip off tourists. And yeah, here most cities were built when grids were quite popular, while in Europe streets weren't really designed for cars, buildings weren't torn down for scrapers, and the original roads were just laid out as needed, so they jut off at weird angles.

Back on topic, nice work on the cathedral area! The cathedral itself is gorgeous and you have an excellent variety of very authentic European buildings. Now THAT is an old city.

bbfan02: Sure, I will send you a pm.. hold on!

Smarty218: I'm gonna show some more pictures of that building, so be ready for more 2.gif

jrhnemo: Yes, those plazas are great!! You can use them in many ways, glad you liked my way!

ky72x: Thank you for your post, I really like your posts actually.. 43.gif they are constructive and gives me nice feedback! The overhanging building is such a cool building, gonna show some more of it soon..

edmonton_stinks: So true.. difference is very clear! But in Europe they also torn down older buildings to make room for newer ones.. sometimes it is really a shame, but it is also needed I guess 4.gif

Fantastic usage of the sidewalk fillers along the diagonal roads in this update. It looks much better than those ugly jagged edges that you always get from them. I also like the small industrial factories used, they don't clash with the other buildings at all. Lastly, I'm still amazed with how good the overhanging building looks over the water. It is just awesome!

So far I've shown the cathedral and parts of the old city called Chernyshevkaya, which also are shown on the map with a number 1. I will now move on to number 2 and the area of Mayakovskaya, which in Joburg is another famous tourist area. Here lies some of the best shopping in town and also the best hotels. But first of all, Mayakovskaya is a great place to walk: hectic busy streets neighbour tranquil lanes and housing with traditional architecture. There are also many very nice cafes, restaurants, clubs, and shops, you might also notice the convention center binding the two areas together which makes it natural for tourists to visit..
