mist6f8eb_thumb.jpg veritaszoning6d835_thumb.jpg

Well, that's how Veritas looked like more than 6 Months ago. I spent almost 3 months of pretty active playing just with this city. Then the central part of it got the prop pox... Nothing helped, i couldn't get rid of the bug, and I finally had to demolish the entire middle parcel to get rid of it 15.gif. I tried to rebuild it, but the difficulties i had to face were just too big. In the end, i flattened almost the entire area, in fact everything except for the airport. I started to reconstruct the city, but got demotivated pretty quickly - it just sucks wenn you in fact repeat what you have already been done. So i started to play Startopia, Black&White and Supreme Commander and forgot about SimCity for a while.. Well, at least i tried to play the last title, but my pc just refused to fulfill its duty. Well, ok, there was nothing he could do, he was about 3 years old *g*. So i decided to grant myself a new computer for christmas:

 .: motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3

 .: processor: Pentium Quadcore Q6600, 4 x 2,33GHz

 .: graphics: Sparkle Geforce 8800GT

 .: memory: 4 GB DDR2 800MHz ("only" 3,5 in use due to WinXP 32bit)

Well, now SupCom was no longer a problem to run. I also  copied the entire region to my computer, but i never really spent time with it. Until... i got my wisdom teeth removed last week. That means: Big cheeks, lots of painkillers, and nothing to do at all...  *g* Therefore i got to play SimCity again 4.gif. I finally invested some more time in Veritas, and made plans about  the way it should look like once it's finished. Surprisingly, i never got any errors because of the quadcore processor. Well, but now since you're aware of this regions history, i stop the long introduction and show the pics 4.gif. Hope you like them.

Amazing ports and airport, really fantastic work! Next time though, maybe you could post images vertically and in 800x600 full pics, as it makes it easier to see!

Great start however!

Damn...everything is so huge! The port is massive, the airport is massive, and the city is massive!

Very nice and organized beginning. For some reason I like the non standard way how the pics are placed.

Nice start, your good at building cities. Although it would be a lot better if you could have photos onsite at 800x600

bbfan02: Thank you 4.gif. I'm trying my best.

Smarty218: I thought about posting the pictures in 800x600 resolution, but that would have meant that i had to resize or canvas the pictures. Also two dozen pictures with 800x600 would have meant a height of 14.400 pixels = loads to scroll! This way its compact, and it's up to the reader to choose which pictures he would like to have a closer look on.

Godzillaman: Thank you. I tried to get the proportions quite real. But still my harbour is quite small compared to real ones. I think the airport is quite the right size.

mightygoose: Thanks. I'm already looking for additional plugins to add and to continue my work.

Shingure: Thanks 2.gif. I hope you don't think it's this organzied because i'm from Germany. If you do, take a look at my desk and think again O:-).

Fallon144: I'll do my best! Thank you.

Almight Nienaber: That from the DVD Box of "EA Most Wanted Edition"?

waway625: Grass on the ramps? I'll immideately send a gardener out there to fix that! 9.gif. I think about giving the "better ones" of the shots a 800x600 resolution with link, but still make a gallery like the one above, so i can offer a lot of pictures, ok?

    jutrock: Thank you.

Catalyst: Thanks. I gues the "breaking the grid" thing was the hardest to manage, but if you tryTOO hard, it just doesnt look right again.

    jacqulina: Thank you 4.gif.

    update196b4.jpg

"Honey, look, isn't that just a part of our stadium passing by on truck on the other side of the road?!?"

Well, something like that. The stadium moved from the west to the east to the airport. I think it fits better over there, and I am able to connect airport and stadium with monorail, rail, subway and highways at the same time. I plan to build industry and some recreation around it, which can also use the massive amout of parking that will be built alongside the stadium.

    31c6ac7.jpg

But before i can start, i had to clear the space and flatten the terrain. The rest went pretty quick. The 6x5 Parking-Lot-Lot was lotted just for the stadium, but I guess I will also be using it in the city later, because its functional.

    32b44c0.jpg339dbe6.jpg

Industry follows close behind, although its quite a pain in the a* to get the right buildings grown. Otherwise it would just look like a puzzle and not like a highly productive industry facility.

    34b2b48.jpg

The "results". Once seen from the front, then from the back. The third picture shows a lot of greenhouses of a company growing tropical plants. The last one shows the new monorail, that connects right with the terminal of the airport.

    357616d_thumb.jpg 366ed63_thumb.jpg37861f5_thumb.jpg 38d018b_thumb.jpg

At the Momen i don't like the look of the Monorail. I think it needs some more eyecandy. I tried to make it more massive with buddybud's lots, but that just turned out too massive. Also, when i took a look at the region map, i noticed that the stadium and its parking lots just look like a huge rectangle - and therefore boring. I have to redo that.

Can you tell me where you got the Hiroshima Library from?

By the way here in Finland there was a bank called Veritas but it has fusioned with another one and goes under a new name.

suomi2005: Thank you 4.gif. The Hiroshima Library is from Nob, but i created my own Lot for it. You can get the original lot here.

    gabry85: Thanks. I'll post more 4.gif.

allez l'om: Thank you very much.

Smarty218: Also thanks to you 4.gif.

Mike the Mayor: Yes, i noticed that that imagehost is having some problems at the moment. Therefore i switched to another one, but I still avoid imageshack *g*

    hijodecordo: Thank you.

    auckland: Thanks 4.gif

    suplado: Thank you 4.gif.

    update196b4.jpg

Well, let's see the new stuff. I continued, even though i had a small "intermezzo" with Fahrenheit (great game!). First, i'd like to show you a custom lot i created for the recreation area i want to build around the stadium, a public swimming pool. If you want, i can upload it to the stex, about i'm afraid it's going to have a lot of dependencies, but nothing really exotic because i try to avoid prop and texture megapacks.

    schwimmbad3190b_thumb.jpg

First the region view. I built residential and industry in the south and i finally get it to close up to the development on the neighbouring map.

    5010852_thumb.jpg

Here you'r able to see one of the residential areas at night. I used custom fillers with the diagonal avenue to hide SC's rectangles on which it's based. If you take a closer look, you will be able to see them also in a lot of other picturs - i use them all the time.

    5176154_thumb.jpg

    52b1d4f_thumb.jpg

Well, this industrial area is everything but new, but i think i never showed it. I built some terraces in the slope and you can get there pretty fast by road or (rural) highway. Remember that the city's medium zoning will reach up to this point in my plans!

    535facd_thumb.jpg

A commercial area with moderate density, a main route of the railway goes right through it. Originally i wanted to electrify it, but then i always got these ugly sand textures beneath the rail. Unfortunately i can't remove them, because they come with the pavement mod. 15.gif

    543fbda_thumb.jpg

    Just a nice night shot.

    5687774_thumb.jpg

This is one of my most used traffic veins. It divides residential and industrial zoning from one another. I didn't use any retaining walls, because the slope is just not strong enough. I only placed some around the tunnel portal to avoid a displaced look of it.

    559526d_thumb.jpg

A bigger park right in a high density residential area. On the right you can see a strong use of the filler lot.
